"Buying sugarcane seeds?"
Yang Chuxia was reminded of the commotion Ms. Luo caused over sugarcane seeds at her ho the year before last.
She hadn’t expected that Ms. Luo would still rember that.
"Indeed, she said she wouldn’t buy much, just enough to plant an acre of land."
After thinking it over, Yang Chuxia nodded in agreent, "Alright, if she gets enough for an acre, then next year if she wants to plant more, she can save her own seeds."
"However, I thought about it, and we probably have to sell to your fourth aunt, and we likely owe it to your uncle’s wife as well, not to ntion your granduncle."
Otherwise, if one family has them and another doesn’t, we would be offending people.
"Just let Mom and Dad handle it. Whoever cos to us, we sell to them; whoever doesn’t, you act as if you don’t know. If we run out of seeds, just say they were too late," she said.
It wasn’t a big deal.
"Alright then, I’ll talk to your father about it."
While they were talking, Li’s mother ca with Lele and Yangyang. However, one was carried, while Ming Liu guided the other, letting him cautiously try to walk.
"Can Yangyang walk now?" Ms. Wang saw her little grandson taking tiny steps, still unsteady even with soone holding onto him, and couldn’t help but express her surprise.
"He isn’t quite there yet when it cos to walking, but this little fella is active and doesn’t like being held. He’d rather stand supporting himself on sothing. Since he stands quite steadily, I’ve been taking him to walk a few steps every day," Li’s mother explained.
Seeing Yang Chuxia and Ms. Wang, the two little ones stretched out their small hands.
"Mom... Mom..." Lele called out to Yang Chuxia.
Yangyang, on one hand, held onto Ming Liu, and with the other, he reached for Ms. Wang. His steps were wide, and despite his own unsteadiness, he took such big strides.
"Granny... Granny..."
"Wow, Little Yangyang can walk, that’s wonderful." Ms. Wang stepped forward to take Yangyang, "Yangyang, call Granny."
"Granny, Granny." Yangyang loved calling out to people, but he still hadn’t mastered saying two words together, only managing one at a ti.
"When will you be able to say ’Granny’ properly? You keep calling ’Granny’ instead," Ms. Wang teased.
Yangyang thought she was praising him, so he lunged into her embrace and started giggling.
Seeing his little brother having fun with Granny, Lele pursed his lips, "Brother dumb, Yangyang dumb!"
He ant to say his brother couldn’t even call out ’Granny’ yet.
So Little Yangyang was not pleased, climbing out of Ms. Wang’s arms and giving his brother, who was held by his mother, a look. Then, with an exaggerated gaze at Lele, he slowly extended his arm and hand, pointing in Lele’s direction and clearly uttered two words, "You dumb!"
"Huh?" Ms. Wang excitedly patted his head, "Have you finally managed to say two words? But it ca out while quarreling with your brother!"
Yangyang nodded vigorously, "Quarrel, quarrel."
"Pfft..." Ms. Wang laughed, "These kids are truly smart."
Lele, who was called dumb by Yangyang, wasn’t upset; the usually somber boy smiled at his little brother.
Yangyang caught the smile and gestured to him, "Down, down!"
He wanted him to co down and play.
Lele shook his head; he didn’t want to go down. Standing was too tiring. And so, he hugged Yang Chuxia’s neck even tighter instead.
"You’re just lazy, not wanting to stand up, right?" Yang Chuxia tapped his little nose, knowing her son’s temperant all too well from spending every day with them.
Touching his nose, Lele still refused to go down and instead clutched her hand, "Book, book!"
