"It’s tasty, tasty, the peach is tasty." Yangyang didn’t care if his clothes were dirty or not at that mont, and he was holding a peach bitten beyond recognition, wanting to share it with his mom, "Mom, eat, mom, eat."
Yang Chuxia felt a tug at her heart as she saw him holding out the peach to her mouth.
He had turned the peach a bit unsightly, it was all covered in his saliva.
"Take a bite." Yangyang, unaware of his mother’s disgust, was still holding it up sincerely, his big eyes twinkling, "Take a bite, it’s good."
Faced with such an earnest Yangyang, Yang Chuxia felt it would be a cri not to eat, so she took a bite, "Delicious, Yangyang is so good."
"Dad, you take a bite too." Seeing that Yang Chuxia had bitten it, Yangyang hurriedly offered it to Ye Zi’an’s mouth. Ye Zi’an frowned at the peach in his hand; it looked quite unappealing after being gnawed on.
Seeing his reaction, Yang Chuxia covered her mouth and laughed. Brother An was a bit of a clean freak, and with the peach looking like that, he probably found it hard to swallow.
"Dad, eat, dad, eat." Seeing Ye Zi’an still hesitating, Yangyang urged him.
Then they saw Ye Zi’an bite the peach with a frown on his face.
"I thought you wouldn’t eat it."
"I didn’t want to eat it, but it’s a son’s filial piety," he said, and then added, "The peach is nice; it’s from another county. I saw a village that was all planted with peaches, so I bought so on the way back."
Yang Chuxia had noticed the washed peaches on the table earlier. She had thought they were bought by Sister-in-law Li from the market.
She hadn’t expected that he had brought them back and saw that there was even a basketful by the table.
"Why isn’t Lele eating?" Seeing her younger son eating the peach with gusto while the elder son sat cleanly dressed on a chair, not holding a book today but with his little hands propping up his chin, listening to her and Brother An talk.
"Hard, don’t like," Lele answered his mother while shaking his head.
"Do you prefer them soft?" The peaches would indeed be hard if just picked and would soften after a couple of days.
Upon hearing this, Lele nodded.
"Then you can eat them in a few days, they’ll soften up then."
"Okay."
Seeing Eldest being obedient and sitting on one side with his clothes still clean and neat, and then looking at her younger son still hugging and munching on the peach, she felt like the peach must really be delicious.
Feeling soone’s gaze, he quickly looked up and saw it was his mom, so he flashed a big smile, his drool coming down with it.
Yang Chuxia couldn’t help but cover her face, "Son, you look like I’ve been mistreating you for ages. Look at your clothes. Mingcui, quick, carry him down for a wash; he looks like a spotted cat."
"Spotted cat, spotted cat, ow..." Being called a spotted cat, the boy even mimicked a cat’s ow.
"Pfft, I call you a cat, and you ow? Son, can you get any sillier?" Ye Zi’an couldn’t bear to watch his son’s foolishness any longer. Eldest was so clever, so why was his little brother sotis so obtuse? All right, Ye Zi’an had forgotten his younger son was only a little over a year old.
Yangyang was not happy now.
Although he didn’t know as much as Lele, he understood that unpleasant words were ant. So, like a little cannonball, he charged at Ye Zi’an, saring the peach juice from his hands and his face onto Ye Zi’an’s white robe.
Seeing the clear little handprint at the hem of his robe, Yangyang clapped his hands and laughed with delight.
"I’m smart, I’m smart!" He laughed while telling Ye Zi’an with wide-open eyes that he was not stupid.
Ye Zi’an gave him a look and said, "Son, smart people usually don’t say they’re smart."
