For the first ti in a long, long ti, Qingyi felt at real risk of death, his mind running through millions of possibilities as he raised his sword.
What on earth could he do against an ancestral emperor? He couldn't even cross enough cultivation realms to fight a true immortal!
For a brief mont, he opened the system store, looking to buy an escape talisman, but it was too late.
Jinrui's father had already drawn his sword, all his Qi falling on Qingyi as he attacked.
At that mont, sothing changed.
Qingyi felt a powerful, heavy figure land next to him, a higher Qi than Jinrui's father surrounding him.
It was Tai'Ren, his body enveloped in intense green Qi, his muscles expanding as his entire being blazed with power.
The whole thing lasted less than the fraction of a second, but in Qingyi's mind, it seed to have lasted many minutes.
Jinrui's father's blade stopped a single centiter from Qingyi's face, all remaining energy being completely eliminated by Tai'Ren's Qi.
Even without hitting Qingyi directly, that residual energy was powerful enough to seriously injure even immortal emperors.
"Looks like losing just one hand wasn't enough, huh?" Tai'Ren growled, retracting his fist before punching.
Jinrui's father's eyes widened as he tried to defend himself, but it was too late.
Tai'Ren's fist hit his face with all the force of one of the most powerful ancestral emperors in the entire immortal heaven and, in the next mont, there was silence.
Jinrui's father's body disappeared completely.
The reason for this silence was not the shock of the audience, but the total lack of any ans for sound to propagate; every molecule of air had been pushed away, leaving nothing but an intense vacuum.
In the next mont, this vacuum collapsed and the bang was finally heard, a shockwave sweeping across the arena, with the ancestral emperors acting quickly to protect the audience.
Qingyi, still in shock, turned his face towards the horizon, observing a huge mountain, one of the largest in the land of beastn, which towered majestically over the capital of the dragon people.
It was against it that Jinrui's father's body had been thrown, hitting its side at absurd speed, sinking into the resistant rock and creating a crater kiloters deep.
The whole mountain shook, the tremors spreading all the way to the capital, making the ground beneath everyone's feet tremble.
"Fuck! Blergh..." Jinrui's father vomited a gulp of blood. His clothes were torn, his face burning and his body sunk in miles of earth.
It only took him a brief mont to regain his composure and realize what had just happened.
His eyes filled with even more fury and he roared.
"TAI'REN, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Jinrui's father's icy aura engulfed everything around him, his Qi exploding the sea of rocks, sending the thousands of tons of rock above him into the air.
The mountain that had once stood tens of kiloters high, bigger than anything Qingyi had ever seen on earth, was now reduced to just half its original size.
"Ah... looks like soone hasn't learned yet, hahahaha!" Tai'Ren laughed, ready to throw himself at his old enemy and settle their differences.
Unfortunately, he had to stop at the next mont.
Tianjin, the patriarch of the dragon people, one of only two astral body realm cultivators among the beastn, finally made a move.
He raised a single hand, his beautiful golden eyes sweeping over everyone there.
"Enough." A single word and Tai'Ren's Qi collapsed, as did Jinrui's father's, even dozens of kiloters away.
They both fell to their knees, coughing up gulps of blood.
"You can kill yourselves another ti. For now, the most important thing is that the divine beast tournant goes ahead as normal." Tianjin spoke, two guards appearing at his side.
They bowed, receiving orders to put Jinrui's father under house arrest.
Having tried to kill Qingyi was a serious act of disrespect, and Tianjin would deal with it later.
"Ugh... that sucks." Tai'Ren stood up, turning his face to Qingyi. "What's up, son-in-law? You're not going to break just with that wimp's aura, are you? Hahaha."
"Not at all, father-in-law, hahaha," Qingyi replied, getting up and wiping the blood from his lips.
His beautiful purple eyes imdiately t Qianyao's, and he smiled.
"Young Miss Qianyao, are you ready? I'm still excited for us to finish that duel," Qingyi said.
The golden-eyed beauty seed to reflect for a brief mont, her delicate fingers removing a lock of silver hair from in front of her beautiful face.
"You're hurt..." she whispered, jumping into the arena and walking towards Qingyi.
Her fingers searched for sothing in her space ring, and a single golden pill appeared between them.
Without hesitation, she pushed that pill into Qingyi's mouth, whose eyes widened in surprise.
"I surrender..." She blushed, looking at Qingyi's handso face one last ti before turning to her father, who was completely calm, unlike the shock carried by all the others watching the scene.
With one smooth movent, Qianyao's feet left the ground and landed next to her father.
"Ah... my son-in-law really is incomparable, hahaha... both in talent and in... well... attractiveness, HAHAHAH" Tai'Ren patted Qingyi on the shoulder.
"I'm sure this pill is rare. Go on, start healing your body, you don't want to waste any of it."
Hearing those words, Qingyi just gave a bitter little laugh and sat down cross-legged, starting to circulate his Qi.
He wasn't happy with the outco. He wanted a serious fight with Qianyao, to test his power even more.
Jinrui had been strong and pushed him to the limit, but that wasn't the limit Qingyi wanted to face.
"Ah... I'll still have a chance..." The handso young man sighed, watching the guards fly off into the sky with Jinrui's angry father in their arms.
Soon after, a group of doctors arrived to pick up Jinrui himself, who was unconscious, his dantian completely destroyed.
It served them both right.
May they be less horrible people in their next lives.
