Elize humd softly as she removed the lid from a steaming pot.
She took a spoon and tasted the reddish broth that was boiling.
"Perfect!" She curled her lips as she went to put the lid back on, but stopped at the last mont, feeling the ground beneath her feet shake.
She ran to the other side of the kitchen, grabbed her sword and shot into the temple courtyard.
Her eyes fixed on the sky above the walls.
The temple’s defensive formations were active, a barrier of thunderous energy forming a do around them.

The temple’s formations would only activate if there was a powerful enemy trying to invade the sect, and in its current state, it was too weakened.

Although she was not yet at the Foundation Realm, she was the strongest of the priestesses who had stayed at the temple.
It was her responsibility to look after all the others.

They weren’t ready to fight without Yueli, Elize knew that well. It would be a bloodbath if she allowed them to take part.
With all her determination, she closed the large double doors of the throne room, locking them inside.
Unlike the formations surrounding the temple, the formations in the throne room were much more powerful and could hold Foundation Realm cultivators for many minutes.

She would hold them back until her knees failed and her shoulders slumped. As long as her sisters were in danger, she would endure.
