Did Dante miss the dark entity?
Of course he did!
Dante gave him a small nod. He indeed missed that mysterious being. After all, that being was the only hope Dante had.
He had been able to seal Greed once, and he could likely ensure that sothing similar wouldn’t happen again.
And seeing all the people he called "pets", they were likely slaves! Maybe he could—
"He can’t, hehe." Greed suddenly laughed in Dante’s mind.
"Oops, don’t look at with hope." The dark entity shook his head helplessly, shattering all Dante’s hopes in less than a second: "I told you, didn’t I? That pitiful creature had enslaved my entire kind, the Unlight. Your girl is now permanently, well, yours."
Dante kept staring at the dark entity for a mont before shifting his gaze to Ruby.
She was now... his?
Why?
"Why did you do this?" Dante whispered with an unnatural calmness: "Aren’t you trying to possess my body? Why did you turn her into my slave? This doesn’t help you in any way. And if I accepted it, wouldn’t this benefit ? Why are you trying to help in this twisted way instead of weakening ?"
"Why?" Greed suddenly appeared in front of Dante.
He crawled slowly to the dark entity’s throne, resting casually around the dark entity’s neck.
"Disgusting bastard." The dark entity stared at Greed with disgust, seemingly able to see him.
It was likely what he had ant by saying that he could "see" the "unseen", but he didn’t seem to have the ability to throw Greed away.
"Dante, even though your soul isn’t from this world, you’re still my descendant, since the World Runes fused your soul with your body." Greed explained with a mocking voice: "Isn’t it my responsibility to lead you to the right path of greed? Maybe our relationship isn’t that good, but I’d rather stay as a relic than watch you wasting your potential like that."
"Yeah, ignore this bitch." The dark entity sighed: "As I told you, never trust him. He might tell you the truth as a joke, and he might give you a logical reason only to be a lie. In fact, he might have done all that only for fun."
"Fun...?" Dante’s calmness vanished instantly as he gritted his teeth until they almost shattered.
Was all that just a ga for him?
Did he do all that only because he was bored?!
"Hey! Don’t slander like that!" Greed complained, looking at Dante and the dark entity innocently: "Can’t an old man help his descendant get stronger nowadays? I enslaves just one useless person and I’m now considered a beast doing it for fun? No, I’m not doing it for fun. Even if you don’t believe now, it’s only a matter of ti before you do."
Dante opened his mouth, but before he could mutter a word, the dark entity spoke: "Let guess, you want him to beco a monarch so neither I nor any seal would affect him or you, right? Because you’re connected to his soul, your ntal invasion will never be weak against him regardless of his Mind stat."
Greed stared at the dark entity for a mont before whispering: "Who knows?"
Staring blankly at their interaction, Dante didn’t know how to react.
So, there was a chance that Greed was trying to both break Dante’s mind and make him stronger?
Greed wanted to make Dante strong enough to break any possible seal that affected Greed, and he did that in a twisted way that would ensure keeping Dante’s mind at his lowest.
And now, Ruby was the victim of his plans.
"Anyway..." the dark entity stood up and walked toward Dante: "I fixed your seal, but it’s now three years instead of four. The reason is that Greed is now stronger after regaining another piece of himself, and your new strength is also playing a part of this. Regardless, you’ll be okay for three years so long as nothing like this happens again."
Dante nodded depressingly before suddenly asking: "What... What brought you to ? And where are we?"
"Oh, glad you asked." The dark entity explained: "It’s simple. I saw so people with mories about a regression who seed to know about . I was curious, so I searched for you after finishing a few things and scanned your mories to understand everything."
Dante’s pupils shrank slowly: "Were you... watching all the ti?"
"Yes, I was." The dark entity admitted: "It was fun, hehehe. I wanted to make sure that you wouldn’t die from anything before doing your job, so I kept watching you."
"Unfortunately, when the ti to find a piece of Greed finally ca, a strange barrier stopped from entering with you." His head seed to be fixed on Greed’s figure: "By the ti I broke the barrier, you disappeared from existence for less than a second and returned. I had to see your mories again to understand."
"Oh... I see." Dante nodded, rembering when the gate closed all lf a sudden, his face slowly turning expressionless, giving no reaction for the fact that he had been observed for so long.
"As for this place..." The dark entity continued: "You’ll understand when you beco stronger. You don’t have to think about it, as I’ll take you out now."
The next mont, the dark entity pulled an object out of nowhere and handed it to Dante.
When Dante scanned the object, he was surprised to see that it was a gun!
It looked like a gun from Earth, yet it was strange. Half the gun was white, while the other half was black. It also had a core that glowed and flickered between black and white.
It reminded him of...
"Chaos!" The dark entity said excitedly: "They call it chaos blaster. Infuse it with chaos energy and shoot whenever you find another part of Greed. I didn’t give it to you back then because I thought you’d get your own way to break a part of Greed by yourself, but I didn’t expect you to find the first one before even reaching Rank 2."
"Chaos blaster...?" Dante’s eyes glead with dangerous light, then he pointed it at his right arm.
Just then, the dark entity grabbed Dante’s arm, stopping him from shooting: "Calm down, kid. It won’t work on him. And don’t waste the bullets, I was able to get only two from the Abyss and I won’t risk my life for more. You have to save them for the next ti you find another part of Greed."
Dante sighed and stored the blaster before processing what the dark entity said.
"You got that from the abyss? It’s dangerous even for you?" Dante frowned.
Why would the only source of the bullets of this blaster be the Abyss?
"Haha, yes, it is. The bear invaders and eagle invaders specifically are the last people I’d like to fight."
Dante narrowed his eyes at the entity’s words.
Bear invaders? Eagle invaders?
For so reason, Dante felt that he knew them.
"Wait, what about the knights?" Dante asked, rembering the knights who obeyed him.
The dark entity chuckled: "They are from my kind... I know how to remove their slavery marks. Anyway, see you later, I’ll watch you whenever I’m free."
The dark entity snapped his fingers, causing Dante to disappear and leaving the dark entity with Greed.
"I rember it like yesterday when you begged to beco my student, hehehe." Leaving these words, Greed finally disappeared.
The dark entity appeared on his throne and rested his head on his hand.
"...I regret it."
