"He... he killed him. In less than a second, he killed him!"
A shiver ran down the backs of the observers. Even the duchess couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed.
Not because he looked stronger than her, she could kill him with just a thought, but because that strength was coming from a Rank 2!
She was already impressed by Fafnir’s performance in the first and second stages. What Adrian just showed broke her expectations!
Michael was still frozen in his place, unable to process what just happened.
"No..."
That didn’t make any sense.
"You should have just switched. Did you really die from such a weak attack? I thought you were stronger than this. Was everything just aningless talk?!" Adrian hissed in pure hatred, making many people flinch at the tone of his voice.
Sighing in frustration, he quickly turned around, looking at the duchess who seed both impressed by his power and a bit mad at Fafnir’s death.
"I give—!"
Before he could complete his sentence, his body suddenly shivered.
A dozen hands erged from Fafnir’s body and shot toward Adrian. They imdiately held him in place with a crushing grip while extinguishing his flaming state.
How? By freezing him!
The shadowy fingers spread ice across Adrian’s body and head, holding his face, arms, torso, and legs.
From the molten stone, Fafnir stood up, then a new head rose from his neck slowly like splitting cells, looking at Adrian with two hollow eyes. He was in a shadow form now, his long black hair moving like living snakes.
His mouth opened, letting out a cold breath of inky-black smoke that froze the molten ground he stood on.
All the observers fell into more shock at that sight. A headless body literally awoke from death and healed itself.
The narrator was supposed to explain and talk about the fight, but even he couldn’t understand anything!
"HAHAHA! You should thank for this! I’m the one who created this bloodline. I’m a genius!" Greed jumped happily.
The first greed trait that Dante got, Unyielding Possession, allowed Dante to heal his body.
But what about Fafnir? He was a shadow that could already heal itself.
Basically, his natural regeneration increased significantly!
That trait also allowed Dante to live for a few seconds without a head, giving him the opportunity to reattach his body.
And for Fafnir, he could already live without a head. Previously, he would have died if he lost more than 50% of his body, which ant that the minimum number of cuts to kill him was three cuts, turning him into three parts.
But now, he had a few valuable seconds to heal himself before complete death. If he just restored himself to 50% of his body within these seconds, that would be enough to save him.
That didn’t consu any mana. That didn’t consu any demonic energy or spiritual energy. That didn’t exhaust him, as he didn’t have the concept of stamina to begin with.
Everything was completely innate and natural.
In other words, Fafnir was semi-immortal.
’Show what you got!’
Fafnir held Adrian in his place, then he grabbed his silver sword and charged it with mana and spiritual energy, the air around him growing colder with every mont.
BOOM!
But just then, Adrian kicked the ground and launched himself away, ripping all the shadow hands and burning them, almost dragging Fafnir with them, as his blazing armour lted the ice.
Slash, slash, slash!
At this mont, Fafnir slashed six tis flawlessly in a row while tracking the movent of Adrian’s shadows, unleashing six shadow slabs that froze the ground in their path, the sa ground that was already molten with flas.
Adrian’s eyes sharpened under the mask. Letting out a roar of fury and flas, he charged toward the slashes face-to-face and punished them with a barrage of heavy blows that rang through the whole arena like a storm of explosions. The impact forced smoke to spread everywhere, caused by the interaction between flas and shadow ice.
Fafnir now confird that sothing was wrong.
Three shadows with different shapes, insane power that wasn’t shown in the first fight, overwhelming physical strength that made no sense.
Everything was clearly different.
Thankfully, Fafnir had already learned how to mimic ice.
Shadow Spell — Freezing Veil!
Fafnir cast a dark cloud that pushed the smoke and surrounded him. The area was completely dark and as cold as ice.
If Adrian wanted to fight face-to-face, he’d be at a disadvantage. That cloud was how Fafnir learned to fight the environntal disadvantages by creating his own environnt in the form of a black veil.
"PATHETIC!" Adrian roared, pushing the smoke that covered him. His body was completely fine despite blocking the slashes, and his gauntlets didn’t even show a scratch!
But most importantly, his flaming armor was even hotter, thicker, and more intense than ever, to the point that it was already affecting the veil despite the distance.
"Good, good, good! It’d have been boring if you just died that easily. Now I have a better chance to force you to switch!"
Adrian laughed crazily and shot himself like a bullet again.
However, Fafnir was ready this ti.
Several shadow walls materialized in Adrian’s path. Once Adrian entered the veil, his speed decreased noticeably, but he didn’t care.
He covered his face with both hands and passed through all the shadow walls, slowing down after each crash, until he finally stood before Fafnir.
Slash!
At that mont, Fafnir landed on his neck a slash that he had been preparing, then 7 shadowy blades followed that attack, significantly more powerful than Dante’s maximum number of blades when he created this technique for the first ti.
All blades landed on Adrian’s neck. However, Fafnir felt like striking an unbreakable wall as the sword reached only half Adrian’s neck, most of the force was blocked by the flaming armor and the rest by Adrian’s durable neck itself.
As Fafnir was about to escape, Adrian punched Fafnir’s stomach with an explosion on impact, sending him crashing into the wall outside the shadow veil.
"Hmm?"
Adrian frowned. That impact was weaker than he wanted, and his hand that he used to punch had traces of black ice covering them.
Once the debris cleared, he understood the reason.
Fafnir was now wearing a shadow cloak, a cloak that moved on its own and protected Fafnir’s body, focusing on his stomach.
Fafnir smirked subtly. That cloak was sothing he stole from one of Dante’s old opponents.
Shadow Technique — Zoran’s Cloak!
It was a cheap copy of Zoran’s ability, the lightning cloak that caused a few problems for Dante. Fafnir was always interested in it, and after persevering for months, he completed this technique.
"...!"
Suddenly, Fafnir’s smirk froze.
A dozen stone spikes rose from the wall and the ground like spears. The cloak blocked so, but the rest successfully pierced different parts of Fafnir’s body and hung him in the air.
’S-stone?’
Adrian finally showed another aspect, and it was the Stone Aspect!
