Beatrice’s house had only one room.
That room contained a bed, a table with three chairs, two closets, a food container that was filled with ice, and a big chest.
In that room, Dante stood at the door, his arms crossed but ready to run at any mont.
The short girl was sitting beside the vampire, who wasn’t trapped anymore, and the knights sat on chairs, facing Dante with wide smiles.
Dante didn’t like the look on their faces.
’They are all looking at like I’m a naive child.’
Although Dante could really be considered a child, he didn’t like to be treated as one.
At this mont, he was focused on the luck of the people in front of him. Everyone had many different colors surrounding fortune and misfortune, but so of these colors were more overwhelming than the others.
The female knight had blue and green luck. In addition to them, Dante saw a strange phenonon.
She had pearl luck, but for so reason, that pearl luck had a pearl chain extending of it and connected to the short girl’s wheel. And that chain was increasing the green luck that the short girl possessed.
In the core of her wheel, the golden fortune was higher than the obsidian-black misfortune, suggesting that her luck wasn’t that bad.
The male knight also had high green luck and a strange pearl luck, but unlike her, he had two chains with one going to the female knight and the other to the short girl.
Additionally, he had a strange intense pink luck that was seemingly trying to reach for female knight with a chain but couldn’t.
’It’s like... her wheel has an invisible barrier stopping the pink chain.’
The vampire had high green, silver, scarlet, and blue luck, but he also had a pearl chain that seed to be coming from the short girl.
The short girl’s fortune was the most outstanding of them all. Her luck was more intense than everyone else’s, too imnse that it could be compared to the darkness monster’s.
Her most outstanding luck was strangely white luck, followed by the green luck that was held by the knights’ pearl chains as if preventing it from falling.
Of course, Dante was pouring his misfortune into them gradually, but that amount wasn’t too much. At this rate, he’d need days or weeks to show a difference.
And obviously, other than the fortune and misfortune, Dante didn’t understand any shit.
’Couldn’t the runes give knowledge about the colors? How am I supposed to understand these things?’
Even if he ignored the colors, there were also so strange phenonona like the pink luck and the pearl luck. His mind couldn’t understand those things currently.
Dante sighed inwardly and asked the knights: "So, what do you want from ? Why are you obsessed with the mark on my head?"
The female knight cleared her throat and said: "First, let introduce us. My na is Selena—a 21-year-old trainee holy knight."
Dante tilted his head in confusion as Selena pointed at the male knight and continued: "This man beside is Maxwell. He has the sa age and position as ."
Dante nodded, even though he still didn’t understand what a holy knight was supposed to be.
’They won’t try to purify with holy water, right?’
Selena pointed at the golden-haired short girl, who smiled brightly.
"This stup— I an this girl is Elizabeth, a 19-year-old saintess candidate. Maxwell and I had chosen to protect her with our lives on her journey of becoming a real saintess."
"As for why we are here, we—"
"Hey, I didn’t introduce myself yet!" The vampire suddenly cut Selena off.
"You bloodsucker, how dare you interrupt her!"
"Just... let him talk." Dante said, causing Maxwell to calm down.
There was no harm in letting him talk, was there?
’Though this guy’s face is really strange. If I didn’t look closely, I’d have thought he was a woman.’
The vampire gave Maxwell a side look, raising and lowering his eyebrows mockingly, then shifted his gaze toward Dante.
He moved his hand through his long hair gracefully and held a rose in his mouth as he said:
"I’m Skylar, a 20-year-old humble wanderer. I was born with a face that could be considered both a curse and a blessing. In my hotown, the beautiful ladies used fo call Skylar the Majestic Gentleman. One year ago, I—"
"You bastard, that’s enough!" Maxwell gritted his teeth, drawing his daggers again. But Dante was more confused by the rose that had appeared out of nowhere.
Selena patted Maxwell’s shoulder and continued:
"As I was saying, the reason we are here is that we were running from a monster and ended up in the middle of this forest. But it must be our fate to et you here!"
’Ah... I doubt that.’
For the next few minutes, Selena explained a basic idea about Dante’s situation.
According to her, the mark on Dante’s head made him a Crowned Existence, which was extrely rare.
A crown would be given to only those who were acknowledged by the world runes as extraordinary among all the living beings.
Since the beginning of the world itself, the number of the known crowned existences was fewer than 40 even though it was confird that there were more than 100 given crowns, which only showed how rare it was to find one.
Only a few people would even have the chance to see the current living crowned existences, and even rarer to find a new one without any affiliation like Dante.
"Still, you didn’t tell what it does or why I should go with you."
Selena shook her head: "I don’t know—every crowned existence has their own unique crown and class as far as I know. That’s what makes them truly extraordinaries. Though there are a few shared things, like having better control, having attunent for two domains, and getting a high stat boost whenever they advance in ranks."
Suddenly, Selena’s smile widened: "And for the second question, it’s because the king of the Holy Kingdom is crowned! I’m sure there is no one better than him to be your instructor."
Dante frowned instantly, confusing Selena and Maxwell.
’Being a crowned existence won’t an anything when he knows that I’m half a demon. The dragons exiled a child of their kind just for this blood, so why wouldn’t humans do worse?’
It was really a sha. Although Dante didn’t trust them completely, knowing that nothing was free, he still would have considered that opportunity if not for his race.
All of a sudden, the vampire spoke: "You have noticed that, haven’t you? As an extraordinary being, you have high potential and a bright future waiting for you. These bastards only want to take advantage of you! Not only them, anyone who sees you will give you a similar offer. Even the queen of the Vampire Kingdom is crowned so their offer ans nothing!"
Selena gritted her teeth: "Don’t listen to his lies—we genuinely want to help you. It’d be a waste for your potential if no one helped to refine it. Plus, although we won’t be the only ones, I can say confidentially that we are the best among the five great kingdoms."
Dante sighed: "Sorry, but... I refuse. I won’t go to your kingdom. I’m used to living alone, and I can’t really trust strangers."
Unlike Dante’s expectations, his response didn’t really make them give up, but it only made them feel empathy toward him.
In their heads, he was just a lonely young genius who lived all his life in a forest while learning everything by himself to survive day by day. He didn’t say that the owner of this house was his friend, so they assud it was a neutral relationship.
They read stories of how so crowned existences got acknowledged by the runes. To beco extraordinaries, they had to make significant feats, shed blood and tears in their path, and have unimaginable abilities.
So, for an untrained and uneducated child in a forest, what did he have to witness to beco extraordinary?
"What do you want to do, then?" Elizabeth asked curiously: "I don’t understand—is the lonely life in this forest better than living among your kind? You can just live there normally if you don’t want to be the king’s disciple."
Dante raised an eyebrow: "Who said anything about living in the forest?"
Under everyone’s puzzled gaze, Dante finally entered the house and headed toward a chest.
He only had to loot the house.
