’I slightly regret it...’
Elizabeth took a bite of her bread as she listened to the conversations of the other passengers.
"Then I shoved the rusty pole into its ass!"
"Yeah, yeah, I totally believe this."
"Bitch, I’m not lying!"
"So you fought an Elite Rank 1 frost wolf alone and defeated it with three punches and a rusty pole?"
"Exactly!"
Elizabeth shook her head: ’He is lying again.’
In the sa carriage, there were three other passengers. One woman, and two n.
She tried to talk with them several tis, but their mindset simply didn’t match hers, and they even mocked her for being blind a few tis. They simply couldn’t beco friends.
All she could do was listen to them in silence. That’s what she had been doing for the past week.
She was finally returning to her kingdom, but she didn’t feel any happiness.
’I lost my knights, I didn’t achieve any feats that deserve acknowledgent, I barely improved, and I’m returning after a war started.’
There was nothing to be happy about. All she felt was depression and... loneliness.
’Why did he have to be a demon?’
She had already missed Dante. Even though she knew him for only a few weeks, she wanted to stay longer with him.
She wanted to try to convince him to go with her, but his race would prevent him from coming with her. A blind saintess candidate like her wouldn’t be able to convince the Holy Kingdom that Dante wasn’t dangerous.
If her kingdom was famous for sothing other than the bloodlines, it would be butchering the abyssal races, especially the demons.
If Elizabeth didn’t know him closely, she herself would have tried to find a way to kill him after knowing his real race.
Maybe if he wasn’t a demon, she’d have tried to offer him to be her holy knight. If she beca a saintess later, she’d have definitely tried to give him an angel bloodline core.
’I should learn from this experience. The race has nothing to do with soone’s nature.’
As Elizabeth was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt the man beside her moving slightly toward her.
Elizabeth frowned instantly: ’This man again...’
She couldn’t see him, but she sensed all his suspicious moves toward her.
Several tis, he has tried to flirt with her, and even offered to spend a night with him in a tent. Of course, she rejected his offer.
For the saintesses, any kind of sexual relationships with n were forbidden. They were allowed to have sex only with their husbands, not with strangers for fun.
They considered sex as a holy act between partners that portrayed trust and acceptance, not re acts of pleasure.
So as a saintess candidate, she had to choose her partner carefully. The only man that she had truly considered as a potential partner was Skylar. Unfortunately, he had to leave for an unknown reason.
After she rejected the man’s offer, he started annoying her in different ways. He had bumped into her several tis intentionally, and he justified himself by saying that he couldn’t "see" her.
He had also tried to follow her multiple tis whenever she wanted to relieve herself. He was even caught once trying to watch her and the other girls when they were bathing at a river, getting punished by the leaders of the convoy.
And she couldn’t even sleep because of him. She had to wait for him to sleep first and do her best to wake up before him.
All of a sudden, she sensed the man taking two objects out of his pocket and giving them to the other passengers.
The woman suddenly clicked her tongue: "Tsk, I don’t see anything."
The man behind her sighed: "Sorry, little girl... I don’t see anything."
"Hmm? What do you an?" Elizabeth asked, her expression showing confusion.
Just then, the man behind Elizabeth moved closer and whispered: "Listen to , I tried to ask you politely. But you left with no other choice."
Elizabeth’s eyes widened as she understood his intent. She imdiately pushed herself to the end of her seat.
"I told you I can’t. I’m a saintess candidate."
The man laughed: "You think I don’t know about your system? Your chances of becoming a saintess are slim, even if all the saintesses died in the war. Why are you resisting at this point instead of having fun? I have already inford everyone around us and paid them, so just give up and accept it."
’Everyone...?’
He didn’t lie...
Elizabeth didn’t know how to react to this. Was a small paynt enough to make everyone in the convoy ignore rape?
’I’m not a good fighter, but I can make sure he doesn’t touch .’
Elizabeth steeled her mind and waited for him to make a move, relying on her ability to cast without chanting to take him by surprise.
The man smiled and whispered: "Don’t worry, you’ll enjoy it as much as I—!"
Before he could complete his sentence, an inky-black hand appeared out of nowhere, covering his sight and moving toward his face rapidly.
Before he could understand what was happening, he was smashed brutally into the ground, shaking the carriage slightly.
Shock spread over everyone’s faces, seeing an inky-black shadow looking at them with intense anger.
Gripping the man’s head, the shadow lifted him up and looked at the other passengers, bringing his index finger to his mouth, as if ordering them to stay silent.
The woman and the man didn’t dare to move, their bodies sweating intensely and their thoughts chaotic.
"Hel... help —!"
BAM!
Before the pervert man could complete his pathetic attempt to ask for help, the shadow smashed him into the ground again.
"You bastard! Don’t be too brutal!" The driver of the carriage said, thinking that the movents in the carriage were from a sinful act.
The shadow lifted the man up again and started to write sothing with inky-black mana in the air. It was the technique that was used to cast using runes.
[There is nothing I hate more than rapists. Think of touching her again, and I will make sure your soul won’t find peace.]
Except for Elizabeth, everyone in the carriage read this ssage, a shiver running down their spines.
Clenching the pervert man’s head tighter, the shadow wrote sothing else.
[Stay silent and don’t say a word about . You and your pathetic convoy are in my territory. Therefore, you have to follow my rules, unless you want to face the fate of those who ignored my warning.]
The next mont, a strange attack blinded all of them for a minute. When they regained their sight, they found only the words left by the creature hanging in the carriage.
The man and the woman didn’t say a word, staring at the words disappearing slowly, anwhile the pervert man stayed on the floor, unable to move due to the pain.
The only one who was left with joy was Elizabeth, who couldn’t hide her smile.
Of course, she recognised the presence of Dante’s shadow.
Elizabeth went back to hugging her knees in silence, her smile widening, and whispered:
"Thank you."
