Kael yanked the intent back.
The crushing pressure in the room lifted like a physical weight being removed.
His silver eyes focused slowly.
Rue stood frozen near the door, her nine tails rigid with shock, violet eyes wide as dinner plates. Aria had one hand braced against the wall, her shadow manipulation flickering around her like a distressed animal. Sage stood between them, expression carved from ice, though her tails betrayed her with nervous twitches.
And on the floor beside his bed—a nurse, unconscious due to the pressure of the intent.
"Kael!" Rue launched herself across the room and crashed into him with enough force to rattle the bed fra. Her arms wrapped around his torso, her face buried in his chest. "You stupid—stupid—How could you faint like that?"
He let her cling. His body felt like it had been disassembled and reassembled by soone working from incomplete instructions, but Rue’s warmth was... grounding.
"How long was I out?" His voice ca out as sandpaper dragged across stone.
Sage’s sneered. "You’ve been out for three weeks now."
"What? Three weeks?" Kael’s head snapped toward her. "That’s not—three weeks?" To him, it felt like years. Decades. An entire lifeti of watching a boy beco a monster.
[Welco back, host. I hope you missed .]
Kael closed his eyes. "Get out, you gay."
[The System does not possess any given gender.]
"Fuck off. I’m still pissed since I almost died."
Kael and the girls talked for hours.
Rue filled him in on what he’d missed—which wasn’t much, apparently. The academy had continued its grinding schedule while he slept. Leaderboard challenges had happened. Classes had proceeded. The world had kept spinning without him.
Aria reported on Guardian matters. Lyra had returned to whatever shadow she operated from. George had sent updates through the communication token, mostly complaining about Kael’s absence. Grey’s funeral had been held—quiet, private, attended only by Guardians who’d known him.
When they finally separated—Rue with obvious reluctance, Aria with a aningful look, Sage with a promise to return tomorrow—Kael was alone with his thoughts and the bastard living in his skull.
"Hey, genderless bastard," he muttered, staring at the ceiling. "Give my rewards."
[Quest Completed: SURVIVE PLANET HEVARIA]
[Objective: Survive | Duration: Until departure]
[Rewards Distributed:]
• Dark Summoning (Technique — Origin Grade)
• 15,000 Shadow Points
• 100 Mid-Grade Spirit Stones
Kael absorbed the information. Dark Summoning. Origin Grade. The na alone told him nothing—System-nad techniques were always vague until he actually examined them.
"Hey." He paused, choosing his next words carefully. "That dream I had. The mories. Do you know what that was?"
Silence.
Then: [The System has no record of any dream or mory-based experience during host’s unconsciousness.]
Kael frowned. The System didn’t know. Which ant it hadn’t been part of its hibernation process, hadn’t been generated or implanted or monitored.
It had co from him. From sowhere deep in his soul that even the System couldn’t access.
So I’m the only one who saw it.
He scratched his head, frustration building behind his eyes. Damian Astraeon. The na rattled around his skull like a marble in an empty jar. The resemblance was impossible to ignore. An ancestor? A past life? So cosmic accident of soul fragnts?
"Doesn’t matter," he muttered, pushing the thought aside. He had more imdiate concerns.
Like the fact that his soul had taken damage.
[Soul nding Pill (Heaven Grade) — 2,000 Shadow Points]
Kael stared at the price tag. "Two thousand? I see what you did there system. Are you trying to reap off?"
[Soul damage is among the most difficult injuries to treat in cultivation. Pills capable of repairing spiritual structure require materials that are—]
"Spare the sales pitch." Kael grumbled, but he purchased four of them anyway. His shadow points plumted from 16,100 to 8,100.
[Do you know how rare and expensive pills for healing soul damage are in the real world? I’m already giving you at a discount price, host. You’re welco.]
"Fuck you too."
The pills worked faster than expected. Whether it was his Transcendent Core’s enhanced regeneration, the damage healed within a week. The cracks in his soul knitted themselves back together, and the constant low-grade headache he’d been ignoring since waking up finally faded.
His cultivation, anwhile, had been progressing on its own.
The academy’s mana density on Planet Orion was triple Athelas. Three weeks of unconsciousness in that environnt, with his core passively absorbing ambient energy, had pushed him right to the edge of Foundation Establishnt Rank 9. He broke through on the fifth day of his recovery.
Kael pulled up his status window, curious to see the full picture.

Astraeon. 10% Awakened. Dormant.
He closed the window and lay back against his pillow, staring at the ceiling.
"Dark Summoning," he murmured, deciding to focus on sothing he could actually control. "Let’s see what you’re worth."
The technique knowledge unfolded in his mind—complex and ancient.
Kael smiled.
This was going to be fun.
