"No need, we brought quite a bit as well. We even have snacks, do you want so? They’re in the bag at the back, help yourself." Xu Yuxi said.
"No, no, food is very precious now. I’m not hungry yet." Zhang Qiang shook his head like a rattle-drum, "Sister Xu, if you get tired of driving, just let know, I’ll take over for you."
"Alright, you sleep for a while first, I see your dark circles are quite heavy, you haven’t been sleeping well lately, have you?" Xu Yuxi had long noticed Zhang Qiang’s dark circles looking like smoky makeup. She and Zhou Shiqiu were fine, they had each other’s company, and with Xiao Lu around, they were prepared for the apocalypse. But Zhang Qiang was different, alone, the fear and anxiety in his heart were imaginable. He probably hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in a long ti.
"Then I’ll sleep for a bit, thank you, Sister Xu." Zhang Qiang gave a smile, sincerely thanked her, then leaned back into the seat and fell asleep in less than half a minute, soon softly snoring.
"This kid, probably hasn’t had a proper sleep in a long ti." Zhou Shiqiu whispered.
"And his sleep is not stable." Xu Yuxi said softly, "He’s the one I ntioned before whose parents don’t care about him; he’s living on his own, that hobody."
"It’s him, huh? You also said he’s really good at gaming." Zhou Shiqiu was a bit surprised, glanced back at the deeply sleeping Zhang Qiang, "Can’t tell at all, he seems quite optimistic."
"I don’t know either. Maybe he’s pretending? Or maybe it’s true." Xu Yuxi continued driving out of the neighborhood. The electric retracting gate of the neighborhood had long been pushed to the sides, and there were dried, darkened bloodstains outside the security hut. Who knows what happened here.
"The navigation being down is really inconvenient. We’ll have to use the map now." Zhou Shiqiu took out the map and started checking it, "First, we pass through the city, get on the highway from this west road, then get off at this exit, go through here, and loop back onto another highway."
"Okay, you guide the way, I’m familiar with the city, I’ll get us through it first." Xu Yuxi nodded.
The city was already desolate, abandoned vehicles were scattered along the road, so cars even had darkened blood stains on them.
"Yuxi, look at that car." Zhou Shiqiu suddenly pointed to a car by the roadside.
Xu Yuxi looked over, her face slightly changed. The car was slightly shaking, with two zombies in horrific condition bumping around in the driver’s and passenger’s seats. Apparently, the two zombies couldn’t get out of the car, which was locked, so they could only crash around inside. Who knows how long they’d been trapped, and whether the passenger bit the driver, or if the driver bit the passenger.
The streets had all sorts of litter, and occasionally there would be darkened bloodstains. As they drove further, so stiffly wandering zombies began to appear on the streets.
"Charge through. These zombies have great strength, but they’re slow." Zhou Shiqiu said with a solemn expression, "And later the governnt announced that you have to destroy their heads to kill these zombies. The human skull is still quite tough."
"There aren’t many of them. It should be fine, don’t worry, I’ll be careful." Xu Yuxi’s face was also solemn.
"Actually, our country is really doing quite well. Before the apocalypse broke out, the governnt probably had so awareness and made preparations, otherwise they wouldn’t have established safety bases so quickly after the outbreak." Zhou Shiqiu recalled news reports from before the internet was cut off and remarked with emotion, "Other countries, especially those like M Country and O Continent, now are probably overrun with zombies, in utter devastation."
