A few minutes later, a man dressed entirely in black appeared before them. He carried chains on his back, held a noose in his left hand, and there was no expression on his cold and stern face.
He looked at the malicious spirit torn in half lying on the ground, then at the boy’s soul emitting white light, and finally at Cui Wenyan.
"Did you catch the ghost?" the Ghost ssenger asked.
"Yes. But my master finished it off in the end." It was Cui Wenyan’s first ti seeing a Ghost ssenger, and he was both shocked and curious. This Ghost ssenger seed rather cold. Well, that made sense; soone who specialized in capturing ghosts had to be impartial and cold, right? It was only much later that Cui Wenyan realized how naive his initial thoughts were.
The Ghost ssenger looked at Tianmiao, then paused.
Who is this person? The glow of virtue was so bright that it almost obscured his face.
"Hello. I’m here to take two ghosts back to the Underworld. Do you have any other instructions?" the stern Ghost ssenger asked politely. Though he wasn’t sure who this person was, they were clearly not ordinary. Being courteous was definitely the right move. It was because of this Ghost ssenger’s intelligence that King Yan generously rewarded him later—though that is another story.
"That’s all. I believe the Underworld is fair and just. My apprentice might trouble you and your colleagues in the future." Tianmiao said with a slight smile.
"Alright, thank you for your support." The Ghost ssenger expressed sincere gratitude. As Ghost ssengers, they sotis made oversights or encountered particularly powerful ghosts beyond their control, or ghosts that hid and escaped their tracking range, and that’s when Ghost Hunters were a great help.
"Take them back." Tianmiao waved a hand.
The Ghost ssenger nodded and used the chains to bind the two halves of the malicious spirit’s body, dragging it to the boy’s side. "Co with ."
The boy glanced at Cui Wenyan, smiled at her, and waved. He then bowed to Tianmiao before leaving with the Ghost ssenger.
Their figures soon vanished into the night.
The surrounding scenery returned to its original state.
"Ah, apprentice, let’s go back. Dong Xiao is waiting for us at the school gate." Tianmiao turned to look at Cui Wenyan and said.
"Huh? Master, did Brother Dong Xiao bring you here? I thought you could teleport or jump through space?" Cui Wenyan’s eyes widened.
"What are you thinking? Stop reading so many novels. Those are things that only happen in fiction. We must focus on science, be grounded, and not fantasize all day, got it?" Tianmiao said earnestly.
"Yes, Master." Cui Wenyan nodded solemnly upon hearing this. But she blinked with confusion. Huh? Focus on science? Isn’t their line of work the most unscientific? No, she shouldn’t understand it so superficially. They’re supposed to be scientifically capturing ghosts now. Like that APP on the phone...
Just as she thought of this, Cui Wenyan opened the app on her phone to check out the Ghost Radar to see if it showed that the ghosts were gone. Instead, she saw a ssage notification.
Caught a level-one malicious spirit, gained ten experience points, received a cash reward of one hundred thousand yuan, and an item reward that will be mailed out promptly. The world’s best-behaved apprentice, keep it up, you’re sure to beco the most dazzling Ghost Hunter, muah!
Cui Wenyan was stunned. This APP was too humanized! Amazing!
Also, this malicious spirit was a level-one, aning the lowest level? What level would a Ghost King be?
