"Mr. Leng, if you keep this up, you’re going to lose your little sweetheart."
Gu Jiaojiao was startled, and her temper flared up.
’She suddenly felt the urge to act up a little.’
A dangerous glint flashed in Leng Yuan’s dark eyes as he held her even tighter.
"Jiaojiao, trust , you don’t want to do that here."
The scorching heat from his powerful hand made Gu Jiaojiao feel as if her waist was being scalded. Flustered, she let go of him and stood up straight.
"Heh... Calm down."
"Your little sweetheart is here to stay."
’This damn man. She couldn’t even speak her mind anymore.’
He wouldn’t let her say words like "lose" or "gone."
One ntion, one punishnt.
She had just forgotten and wanted to act up again, not expecting this man to be such a jerk.

’If you’re so tough, then don’t touch !!!’
"Good."
Looking at the indignant yet suppressed expression on Gu Jiaojiao’s face, Leng Yuan was amused, and a single word escaped his lips.
Before, Leng Yuan never would have believed he would say such a thing.
But looking at his adorable little wife, the word just slipped out.
Only then did Leng Yuan understand that so words, when you reach a certain point, are spoken uncontrollably.
Words like "like," for example, or "love."
Feelings like that can’t be hidden.
And he didn’t want to hide them. He just wanted to be good to her—exceptionally good!
Gu Jiaojiao was a classic case of soone who responded to gentle persuasion, not brute force.
If you tried to be tough with her, she’d be tougher than anyone. But if soone coaxed her, she’d soften imdiately.
And just like that, the damn man had only to coax her a little, and Gu Jiaojiao wasn’t angry anymore.
Leng Yuan let out a soft chuckle.
’His little wife was just that easy to fool.’
’Sigh. He’d just have to keep a closer eye on her from now on.’
’To keep every Tom, Dick, and Harry from getting any ideas.’
After crossing the deep gully, the terrain flattened out considerably. The two walked for another half hour before arriving at the edge of a cliff.
Perhaps because they were near the summit, the moon was exceptionally bright, allowing Gu Jiaojiao to see the surrounding terrain clearly.
She could faintly make out so scenery below the cliff, but further down, there was only pitch-black darkness.
Gu Jiaojiao pointed to the spot where she had found the Polygonum multiflorum and described it to Leng Yuan.
Leng Yuan was silent for a mont, then shone his flashlight over. "Is it here?"
Gu Jiaojiao nodded. "Yes, that’s the spot."
The spot was quite far down, and it was hard to see clearly even with the flashlight. Gu Jiaojiao could only give Leng Yuan a general location.
It had looked manageable during the day, but now, staring into the pitch-black darkness below the cliff, Gu Jiaojiao suddenly felt a wave of fear.
"Leng Yuan, maybe we should forget it. It’s too high."
The Polygonum multiflorum was on a diagonal slope below the cliff’s edge, a place where the rock face was sheer, steep, and dangerous.
Leng Yuan, however, was very calm. He reassuringly patted Gu Jiaojiao’s soft hair, his voice light.
"Didn’t I just say I’d show you what I can do? Now’s your chance to see."
Seeing his confidence and relaxed deanor, Gu Jiaojiao also began to relax quite a bit.
She didn’t know anything about climbing, so she just stood by and watched the man work.
Leng Yuan first tied one end of the rope to a large, thick tree. He then looped it around a massive, jutting boulder on the cliff face before securing the other end to his body. Walking to the edge of the cliff, he grabbed onto the uneven handholds and slowly began to make his way down.
Gu Jiaojiao could do nothing but watch.
The further Leng Yuan descended, the more her heart rose into her throat.
It should have been an incredibly tense mont.
But Leng Yuan suddenly stopped, took sothing from nearby, and tossed it straight up to her.
Gu Jiaojiao caught it instinctively. When she opened her hand, she saw it was a wildflower.
It was a small purple flower, very beautiful and one she had never seen before. It was tied to a small stone and now lay in her palm.
’To have the spare ti to pick a wildflower...’ Gu Jiaojiao was truly impressed.
But she had to admit, she wasn’t nervous at all anymore.
Leng Yuan’s speed was incredible, his movents exceptionally practiced.
When he was a child, his grandfather often took him to the mountains to practice his skills. For him, rock climbing was no challenge at all.
Leng Yuan quickly reached the sa level as the Polygonum multiflorum.
He tightened the rope at that height and let go with his hands.
The next mont, he pushed off with the tips of his toes, his body swinging out from the montum. When he landed again, he was not far from the Polygonum multiflorum.
Relying on the beam from Leng Yuan’s flashlight, Gu Jiaojiao could barely make out his movents.
When Leng Yuan reached the Polygonum multiflorum, he didn’t imdiately start digging.
Near any rare treasure of nature, there would always be an animal guarding it.
This was a lesson learned from his many years of hunting.
Leng Yuan expertly surveyed the terrain and noticed a tiny cave in the cliff face.
He quickly took a sickle from his back basket and tapped the leaves of the Polygonum multiflorum.
Almost at the exact instant the sound was made, a colorfully patterned venomous snake shot out from the cave, striking at Leng Yuan’s neck.
In that instant, it felt as if Gu Jiaojiao’s heart had stopped.
