Chen Ruoyu studied Gu Jiaojiao and saw the clarity in her eyes and the serious expression on her face. She really didn’t look like she did back when she was frantically chasing after Yun Hao.
Back then, Gu Jiaojiao’s pursuit of Yun Hao had been absolutely insane.
She’d shown no regard for her reputation as a young woman, rushing to be wherever Yun Hao was.
Gu Jiaojiao herself probably didn’t even realize it, but back then, whenever she stared at Educated Youth Yun, she looked like a beggar eyeing a at bun, just short of drooling.
But now, though her eyes were the sa, they were clear and bright, without a trace of infatuation.
Compared to her forr self, the Gu Jiaojiao of today was like a pearl that had been wiped clean of dust, shining brilliantly.
Chen Ruoyu was so used to Gu Jiaojiao being unable to take a hint that this suddenly clever and perceptive version of her was a little jarring.
She pursed her lips. "Good, as long as you know. I’m heading back."
With that, she returned to the educated youth settlent.
After Chen Ruoyu left, Yun Hao ca out and handed a fountain pen to Gu Jiaojiao.
Gu Jiaojiao took it. "Now we’re even."
The young woman’s eyes were clear, her smile as bright as a flower. It was just like when she had first arrived at the settlent—no, she was smiling even more brightly now.
But to Yun Hao, that smile was jarring.
As Gu Jiaojiao took the pen, the weight vanished from his hand. And with it, his heart seed to empty out as well.
Gu Jiaojiao paid no mind to Yun Hao’s expression and quickly left the educated youth settlent.
Yun Hao stared after her retreating figure for a long mont.
When he finally pulled his gaze away and turned to leave, he was startled to see Leng Yuan on the hillside, looking down at him...
He was taken aback for a second, then his brows furrowed.
’When did that man get here? How much did he see?’
For a mont, he actually found himself worried about Gu Jiaojiao.
Leng Yuan’s gaze was as icy as ever, full of aggression.
Yun Hao’s was gentle; though confident and composed, it held no hostility.

Nearby, Chen JianShe was making aggressive gestures.
He wished he could charge down there right now and beat the pretty boy who was trying to seduce his sister-in-law senseless—so badly he wouldn’t be able to get out of bed for three days.
In the end, it was Leng Yuan who broke eye contact first. He looked over at Chen JianShe. "Let’s go. We’re heading back."
Hearing this, Chen JianShe shot a cold snort in Yun Hao’s direction before following his Brother Leng away.
Back at the educated youth settlent, Yun Hao’s expression was grim. It was the first ti he had truly taken a good look at Leng Yuan, and he had to admit, the man had a way of making one feel utterly inadequate.
