Xu Chongfeng clutched his quilt, having been kicked out. He stared at the closed door, a look of grievance on his face.
’I didn’t even do anything!’
’I’m innocent.’
"Honey, let explain!"
Chen Xiaoli’s voice ca from inside the room. "Explain my ass! I’m not listening. Just go away."
Xu Chongfeng felt helpless.
Ever since this sister of his had co ho, his wife had taken her anger out on him several tis.
All because Xu Wenwan got angry and locked her door, their daughter now had to sleep with his wife. That left him with no choice but to go find their son.
Xu Chongshan, coming out to empty his wife’s basin of foot-washing water, saw Xu Chongfeng carrying a quilt.
Their eyes t. Xu Chongfeng looked embarrassed and chuckled sheepishly. "The moon is so nice tonight. I just ca out to admire it."
Xu Chongshan chuckled. He glanced at the sky, which was thick with dark clouds, and called his older brother’s bluff.
"Don’t even try, Big Bro. It’s overcast tonight. What moon?"
"You must have gotten kicked out by Sister-in-law. I heard everything just now."
Still, he did feel sorry for his older brother. This was all Xu Wenwan’s fault.
Ever since Xu Wenwan returned, their family hadn’t known a mont’s peace.
He had to admit, their previous sister had been genuinely wonderful.
She had been hardworking since she was a child, and they had all loved to spoil her. She even got along well with both of her sisters-in-law. It was just a sha she wasn’t their sister by blood.
This Xu Wenwan was their blood relative, but it was like her very presence was a jinx on the family. Nothing ever went right when she was involved.
Xu Chongshan had decided long ago to stay far, far away from this sister.
And it wasn’t just Xu Chongshan; Xu Chongfeng now felt the exact sa way.
Xu Wenwan, of course, had no idea how her two brothers felt. She had locked her door specifically to have her system investigate who, exactly, had altered the plot.
"Little Seven, did you find anything?"
It was a long mont before the system replied.
"Apologies, Host. Little Seven’s level is too low to conduct the search."
Xu Wenwan was furious enough to die.
The system, perhaps fearing Xu Wenwan might actually die of rage, imdiately offered her so perks.
"Host, in light of your recent diligence in completing missions, the system has specially requested thirty points for you as a reward."
In addition to that, it also rewarded Xu Wenwan with two at buns.
Getting thirty points for free, plus two fragrant, steaming at buns, Xu Wenwan wasn’t quite so angry anymore.
She was always starving after dinner.
She devoured the two at buns first, then drank a glass of water. Only then did her stomach finally feel settled.
She had to admit, those two at buns were truly delicious.
In her past life, she wouldn’t have given them a second glance.
But since transmigrating into the book, she hadn’t eaten any at. Now, having tasted the at buns, she felt they were the most delicious things in the entire world.
Once she was full, Xu Wenwan’s thoughts turned back to the incident during the day when Gu Jiaojiao had nearly knocked her off the ox-cart. She imdiately used her thirty points to rewrite Gu Jiaojiao’s fate.
The familiar screen of light appeared before her.
She skillfully picked up the pen beside her and wrote a new line into the story: Gu Jiaojiao would suffer a bout of bad luck.
After she finished writing, Xu Wenwan went to sleep, feeling wonderfully smug.
She would have to get up early tomorrow to watch Gu Jiaojiao’s misfortune unfold.
Gu Jiaojiao started making dinner the mont she got ho. Just as she finished, Leng Yuan and Chen JianShe returned.
Not only had they returned, but they were also pushing a flatbed cart.
Gu Jiaojiao stared.
"Where did you borrow the cart?"
Before Leng Yuan could answer, Chen JianShe piped up.
"Sister-in-law, this cart wasn’t borrowed! Brother Leng made it himself."
"He made it himself?"
Gu Jiaojiao was stunned.
’Is he a jack-of-all-trades or sothing?’
’How can he be good at everything?’
You had to understand, only a few families in the entire village owned a cart. It was like buying a major appliance; whenever a family got one, it beca the talk of the village.
She had considered getting one before, but had thought it wouldn’t be very useful.
She never expected Leng Yuan to just go and build one himself.
"This is just incredible."
"These days, you can get a wife for a single sack of grain. This cart is probably worth two wives."
"No wonder you’re such a hot commodity in the village."
