Gu Jiaojiao mulled over the issue of the wrapping paper.
She didn’t have any connections in that industry.
After a mont’s thought, she turned to look at her husband.
"Honey, do you know where they make wrapping paper?"
As it turned out, Leng Yuan knew just the person, and they were on very good terms.
"Just tell what you need. I’ll help you get it."
Gu Jiaojiao had just been testing the waters; after all, Leng Yuan really was well-connected.
Take Leng Qiushou and Leng ManCang, for instance. He had arranged for their jobs and brought them back ho with just a word.
She hadn’t expected Leng Yuan to even have connections at a packaging factory.
’Where did I find such a godsent husband? He’s practically Doraemon.’
Unable to resist, Gu Jiaojiao leaned forward, pressing her soft, delicate lips to her husband’s.
"Honey, you’re amazing."
’My husband is all-powerful.’
’With a husband like him, I have everything.’
Leng Yuan wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight.
Gu Jiaojiao was speechless.
’Can I really say I never learn my lesson?’
’I know I can’t ss with this man, but I can’t help myself. I always have to co and stir him up.’
She instantly gave him a pitiful look. "It still hurts!"
Leng Yuan sighed in resignation.
He loosened his grip and let her go.
Gu Jiaojiao’s expression changed in a flash. The mont he let go, she darted away, her eyes wary.
She was a completely different person from the pitiful creature she’d been just a mont ago.
’Such a classic tease and run.’
He didn’t hold it against his wife, though. He picked up the blueprints, studied them for a mont, then called for Chen JianShe and headed up the mountain to chop wood.
Gu Jiaojiao tidied up the courtyard and began preparing the herbal dicine.
She wrapped the prepared herbal dicine in paper packets. This way, each pot of soap base would be paired with one packet of herbs, enough to make a little over a hundred bars of soap.
In addition to the herbs needed for her regular soap, Gu Jiaojiao also planned to make a shampoo bar, which would use the Polygonum multiflorum she had gathered earlier.
Leng Yuan and Chen JianShe returned surprisingly fast. They had felled a massive pine tree—Gu Jiaojiao could tell at a glance it was at least a century old—and Leng Yuan was carrying it back on his shoulder all by himself.
Without a word, Gu Jiaojiao hurried to open the gate.
She was once again profoundly reminded of her husband’s strength.
Chen JianShe followed behind Leng Yuan, his eyes filled with adoration as he looked at him.
That look!
’If Chen JianShe were a woman,’ Gu Jiaojiao thought, ’I’d probably have a new love rival.’
Just as a sliver of suspicion toward Chen JianShe ford in her mind, she saw him struggling under the weight of a wild boar that had to be over a hundred pounds, his face flushed red from the effort.
Chen JianShe looked ready to collapse from exhaustion.
He stumbled into the courtyard and unceremoniously dropped the wild boar onto the ground, panting heavily.
Seeing him in that state, Gu Jiaojiao dismissed the thought. ’Never mind. No need to worry about him as a love rival.’
’My husband wouldn’t fall for soone like that.’
Gu Jiaojiao walked out and glanced left and right a few tis.
She looked like a clandestine operative.
Outside the gate, it was a world of ice and snow, with only the cold wind howling.
Seeing no one, Gu Jiaojiao quickly shut the main gate.
Turning back, she saw Leng Yuan lowering the pine tree from his shoulder.
"You were gone for less than two hours, and you still had ti to hunt a wild boar?"
Chen JianShe shook his head.
"This boar fell into one of our traps. We just picked it up on our way back."
Seeing that it was getting late and that both Leng Yuan and Chen JianShe had been doing heavy lifting, Gu Jiaojiao decided she’d cook so of the wild boar for lunch.
She ca out with a knife and circled the wild boar, for a mont not knowing where to start.
At his side, Chen JianShe watched, amused.
"Sister-in-law, let do it!"
Wild boar was different from dostic pig; its hide was coarse and its at was tough, and it didn’t have as much fat. To be honest, it wasn’t very tasty, but in these tis, getting a bite of at was like celebrating the New Year, so no one was picky.
Besides, when Gu Jiaojiao cooked, even wild boar beca tender, succulent, and fragrant. It was simply incredible.
He used to look forward to Brother Leng taking him up into the mountains more than anything. Now, he had sothing else to look forward to: mooching a al at Brother Leng’s house.
