Chen JianShe glanced where Xu Chongshan was pointing and refused outright.
"I’m not going."
Never mind that they were pointing at a desolate, empty lot with nothing worth seeing.
Even if there were a spectacular view, it couldn’t possibly distract him from watching his Brother Leng butcher the pig.
’A magnificent sight like this isn’t sothing you get to see every day.’
Chen JianShe pushed a few people aside and went back to intently watching the butchering.
’His Brother Leng really was in a league of his own. Even the way he butchered a pig looked better than anyone else’s.’
The guys exchanged a look and simply took action, dragging him away without another word.
A few villagers saw what was happening but paid it no mind. The group usually got along well, so they figured nothing serious would co of it.
Chen JianShe was utterly dumbfounded.
Seeing that they were about to carry him off, he began to struggle violently.
"Let go! I still want to watch Brother Leng carve up the wild boar!"
The n didn’t let go. In fact, their pace quickened.
This left Chen JianShe even more bewildered.
’What’s going on?’
Before he could figure it out, he was thrown to the ground, his butt aching from the impact.
Chen JianShe: "..."
He rubbed his backside and climbed to his feet.
The four n stared at him with ill intent.
Even soone as dense as Chen JianShe could tell sothing was wrong...
"You want a fight."
The n cracked their knuckles.
"You guessed it."
They couldn’t take on Leng Yuan, but they figured teaching Chen JianShe a lesson would be a piece of cake.
Chen JianShe wasn’t particularly tall, standing at about five-foot-ten, nor was his build muscular. He usually only earned eight work points a day, so they didn’t take him seriously at all.
"We’re all brothers here. We’ll try to go easy on you in a bit."
Chen JianShe: "..."
He still couldn’t understand how things had escalated to this point.
He mulled it over for a mont, and then it dawned on him.
"So that’s it. You’re all jealous of my Brother Leng, and that’s why you want to fight ."
"I’ll be honest with you. If you just want to beat up, I might let you land a punch or two. But if you’re planning to use to threaten Brother Leng, then you can forget it. You’re no match for ."
This stoked the four n’s competitive spirit. "Careful your big talk doesn’t co back to bite you, Chen JianShe."
The four of them against one Chen JianShe? How could they possibly lose?
Chen JianShe wasn’t the least bit flustered.
Four n faced off against Chen JianShe. The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife. Then, they all rushed him at once.
Luckily, no one was nearby, or they would have heard the sounds of a full-on brawl.
In the end, the four n erged with various minor injuries, limping as they walked. Their faces, however, were completely unscathed.
It was a fight between brothers, and the rule is you don’t hit the face.
They were n of principle and wouldn’t break the code.
Afterward, the tension eased. The four young n were thoroughly impressed.
"Damn, kid, how are you so good at fighting? You always seed like a total weakling. I never expected you to be this tough."
All of them were older than Chen JianShe. The closest in age was Chen Jie. Although they both shared the surna Chen, their families weren’t related, lived quite far from each other, and had little contact.
Chen Jie was three years older than Chen JianShe, making him twenty-three.
He, for one, was genuinely impressed by Chen JianShe.
"How are you so good at fighting?"
He clutched his chest, which still ached from a kick Chen JianShe had landed.
Chen JianShe puffed out his chest with pride.
"This is nothing. Brother Leng is the one who’s really amazing. I wouldn’t last three moves against him."
After he said that, he felt his words hadn’t stung enough.
"You guys shouldn’t be so jealous all the ti. My Brother Leng is not soone you can compare yourselves to. A man’s got to know his limitations."
The four n: "..."
’What are we supposed to do when our fists are itching for a fight again?’
But Chen JianShe didn’t shut his mouth.
"My Brother Leng is the kind of guy who can solo a wild boar. You lot? You aren’t even as tough as a boar. If you went up against him, you’d just get soloed yourselves."
The four n: ’...Why does that actually sound kind of reasonable?’
Pah!
’No, wait. It’s not like we wanted to go up against Leng Yuan. We were just teaching his little follower a lesson!’
’We just never expected Chen JianShe to be this tough, too!’
