"Ruoyu, I need to talk to Leng Yuan about sothing. Could you get him for ?"
When Gu Jiaojiao had entered the house, Mrs. Chen had instructed her to just stay in the room and look pretty. She was only to co out when Leng Yuan ca in to invite her.
This was to make her appear more demure.
Chen Ruoyu evidently knew this rule as well, so she left imdiately.
She walked over to Leng Yuan, and her heart couldn’t help but give a little tremble.
Chen Ruoyu swallowed hard before managing to whisper a single sentence.
"Mr. Leng, Jiaojiao is asking for you."
She watched him, secretly trying to steady her trembling legs.
Leng Yuan remained silent.
He rely glanced at Chen Ruoyu before heading into the room. As for the frightened looks people gave him, Leng Yuan had been seeing them his entire life.

Chen Ruoyu quietly breathed a sigh of relief after Leng Yuan left.
At that mont, she was filled with an incredible admiration for Gu Jiaojiao.
For soone so pampered, she wasn’t afraid of Leng Yuan in the slightest.
She knew she shouldn’t be afraid either.

Leng Yuan went into the room to speak with Gu Jiaojiao.
Chen Ruoyu didn’t dare to follow them.
She turned and saw Chen Jianshe moving a table, so she went over to help set out the stools.
In the countryside, families were large, and so were the tables.
For this type of table, the top was separate from the support fra underneath. Chen Jianshe positioned the fra, then lifted the heavy tabletop to place it on top.
Chen Ruoyu followed behind him, carrying a stool in one hand. Once Chen Jianshe had the tabletop in place, she set the stool down beside it.
After setting the tabletop down, Chen Jianshe didn’t see Chen Ruoyu behind him at all and bumped right into her as he stepped back.
The impact was quite strong.
Chen Ruoyu was a nimble worker, but she was a girl with a petite fra. Knocked off balance by Chen Jianshe, she started to fall backward.
Having bumped into soone, Chen Jianshe spun around instinctively just in ti to see Chen Ruoyu about to fall. His body moved faster than his brain, and he imdiately shot out a hand to catch her.
Chen Jianshe had trained with Leng Yuan since they were young. He wasn’t fat, but he was packed with hard muscle.
He caught Chen Ruoyu with one arm, stopping her fall with ease.
They were pressed very close together, and the sweet fragrance of a young woman filled Chen Jianshe’s senses.
He’d never been this close to a girl in his entire life. Chen Jianshe’s mind went completely blank.
In the end, it was Chen Ruoyu who snapped out of it first. She shot him a glare.
"Hurry up and help stand!"
’This blockhead. What does he think he’s doing, just holding here?’
Shouted at, Chen Jianshe hurriedly helped her stand straight, then snatched his hand back as if he’d been shocked.
