Xu Wenwan was Village Chief Xu’s daughter, but she had been raised by a wealthy family in the County Town since childhood. With her fair, delicate skin, exceptional beauty, and refined air, she instantly outshone Sun Yeshu.

He shook his heavy-feeling head, unable to pinpoint what was wrong. When he heard Xu Wenwan speak, he agreed without thinking.
A flicker of guilt crossed Xu Wenwan’s face; she knew this was likely a side effect of siphoning his luck. She imdiately reached out to steady him.
"Yun Hao, you don’t look well. Here, let help you."
Yun Hao nodded.
’Xu Wenwan is so thoughtful,’ he thought. ’I’m lucky to have her.’
Supporting Yun Hao, Xu Wenwan brushed right past Sun Yeshu.
In that brief mont, the contrast between the two won was stark.

The girl beside her hadn’t expected Sun Yeshu’s sudden outburst and jumped in fright.
But Chen Ru’s eyes welled up with tears at the harsh words.
She had never been good with words, and no one had ever really wanted to be her friend.
’Did I say the wrong thing again?’
Soone else in the group glanced at Chen Ru, thinking Sun Yeshu had gone too far. "Ye Shu, Chen Ru didn’t an it like that. She was just trying to comfort you."
Sun Yeshu sneered. "Comfort ? More like gross out!"
She had always held herself in high regard. In the entire village, only Gu Jiaojiao and Xu Wenwan were worthy of being compared to her. No one else was even qualified.
"How can you talk like that? You’ve gone way too far!"
They all hung out together normally. What did Sun Yeshu an by that? Did she find them disgusting?
"Too far? Don’t think for a second I don’t know why you all try to butter up. It’s because when you’re hanging around , guys might actually give you a second glance."
Sun Yeshu had been provoked by Xu Wenwan and was desperate for a punching bag.
’Whatever,’ she thought. ’Even after I say all this, they’ll co crawling back to make up with later.’
With a brazen look, Sun Yeshu finished scolding them and swaggered off. Having vented her frustrations, she felt a wave of relief wash over her.
The others frowned.
"What’s wrong with her? Does she really think she’s so princess? Well, I’m done waiting on her."
"Exactly. She went way too far."
It was true that when they hung out with Sun Yeshu, the village boys paid a little more attention to them. But for her to say it out loud like that was just humiliating.
Everyone has their pride, after all. And they had tempers, too.
