Yun Hao walked out of the Educated Youth Point and hurried down the mountain.
It got dark early now, and a round trip to the County Town would take over three hours, so his schedule was a bit tight.
To save ti, Yun Hao planned to take the small path at the foot of the mountain.
That route would take him past Leng Yuan’s house.
"Passing by" was a bit of an understatent; there was still a fair bit of distance between the path and the house.
Gu Jiaojiao had given Xiao Yang so math problems again today and had also taught Sweet Girl a few characters. The two children were now using sticks to practice drawing them on the ground.
Gu Jiaojiao checked the ti. It was already past twelve, which ant Leng Yuan should be back soon. She decided to open the door and wait for him outside.
Co to think of it, they had only been apart for half a day, but she already missed her man.
Even though they were together every day, it never felt like enough ti.
She finally understood that saying now. ’The mont you leave is when the ache of longing begins.’
It sounded a bit cheesy, but it perfectly described how Gu Jiaojiao was feeling right now.
As Yun Hao turned onto the small path, he spotted Gu Jiaojiao standing by her door in the distance.
He hesitated for a mont, intending to continue on his way. But then, rembering the words he’d been holding back, he changed direction and started walking toward Gu Jiaojiao.
Gu Jiaojiao glanced over casually and saw Yun Hao approaching her.
Gu Jiaojiao was at a loss for words.
’In the novel, the original owner of this body was head-over-heels for Yun Hao, but I’m not. Since I got here, I’ve had very little contact with him. At least we didn’t have a huge, dramatic falling-out like you see in other novels.’
’Still, to avoid any awkwardness, it’s best to keep my distance.’
Gu Jiaojiao gave Yun Hao a glance and turned to go back inside.
"Gu Jiaojiao, wait a second."
Yun Hao called out, jogging over to her.
Seeing how anxious he seed, Gu Jiaojiao stopped. ’What if he has sothing else to talk about?’
When Yun Hao reached her, Gu Jiaojiao casually glanced at his face, and the sight gave her a shock.
The Yun Hao of the past had been confident and composed, with handso features. He projected a gentle, refined, and extraordinary aura; you could tell with a single glance that he was soone special.
But the Yun Hao before her now was tanner and thinner. His gentle, refined air was completely gone, leaving him looking no different from any other man. If she looked closely, she could even see a dark shadow between his eyebrows—the unmistakable sign of a truly unlucky person.
’If not for that face, I would have thought they were two different people.’
’How could soone change so drastically in such a short amount of ti?’
Gu Jiaojiao’s thoughts flew to Xu Wenwan’s system. ’Don’t tell she drained all of Yun Hao’s luck!’
’Xu Wenwan is too ruthless.’
’To change a person’s luck is to change their destiny.’
’Yun Hao was originally destined for a long and fortunate life. Now that Xu Wenwan has siphoned away his luck, there’s no telling what will beco of him.’
’Whatever it is, it can’t be good.’
’In truth, whether a person is destined for a long, fortunate life or is just plain unlucky, it all shows in their aura.’
’A good aura gives off a sense of warmth and calm, while a bad one just makes you feel uneasy.’
The impression Yun Hao gave off now was one of gloom and lancholy. Standing so close, Gu Jiaojiao could feel the negative energy radiating from him.
She instinctively took two steps back, putting more distance between them.
Yun Hao remained oblivious. All he knew was that he had been feeling unwell for the past couple of days and was pale, but he didn’t think it was anything serious.
When he saw Gu Jiaojiao retreat, he assud she was just trying to avoid gossip.
Yun Hao’s gaze fell on Gu Jiaojiao’s face.
The young woman’s expression was clear and lovely, with a touch of charming coyness. She showed no signs of the typical worries of married life; she looked delicate and enchanting, and it was obvious her husband was taking very good care of her.
But this comfortable life, he thought, was nothing compared to her safety.
