"Is this your cat?"

Having the cat in her arms snatched away by Catherine, Sifrin patted the cat hair on her chest and then reached out to stroke the head of the cat, which was behaving obediently in Catherine’s arms.

"You haven’t co to see in Celestial Destiny City for ages, and you didn’t even know I have a cat now. You really don’t care about your cousin."

Catherine held Little Flower tightly, soothing its emotions while trying to swat away Sifrin’s hands. If you’re going to pet the cat, just pet it, why does your hand wander off like that?

"You always drop by the Church Court every now and then. Why should I run to Celestial Destiny City when you know how kind-hearted I am? I can’t bear to see the suffering of the Celestial Destiny Empire’s common folk."

No matter what they talked about, Sifrin always had her reasons, deflecting questions with a few cute words.

"I really don’t know how Uncle had a daughter like you. You’re nothing like him, who has a heart of justice and dedicates everything to the Human Race. All you know are flowery words, without even a hint of feigned sincerity."

This wasn’t the first ti Catherine had complained about Sifrin. She truly felt that aside from inheriting their uncle’s looks and Divine Technique talent, everything else about her silly cousin didn’t resemble her uncle at all. They didn’t seem like father and daughter at all.

"Maybe it’s a skipped generation. I heard my grandfather was quite the playboy in his youth."

Sifrin, while teasing the cat, said this nonchalantly.

Right then, Lynn pulled Xiya out from the kitchen, and hearing Sifrin’s casual words, he suddenly rembered a saying.

It might not be a skipped generation, but rather the neighbor’s...

Of course, Lynn wouldn’t say such reckless things out loud, but he couldn’t help but take a couple more glances at Sifrin.

After all, he had dealt with Sifrin quite a bit and even more with her father, the Saint Emperor of Light. If you compare the two, they’re worlds apart, much more than Xiya and Vivian, who are sisters of different fathers and mothers.

"We got back a bit late; dinner’s already been served. If you don’t mind, Catherine, feel free to join us for a simple al."

Lynn carried a plate of honey-orange flavored cupcakes that Vivian tried making, and Xiya carried a big bowl of dry mixed... uh, a large bowl of undressed green leaf salad. Soup was still on the stove, so it was a perfect ti to invite Catherine to dinner.

As for Sifrin, it’s not that she’s not welco, but she’s more discerning about food than a gourt critic. If it’s not from a Michelin star restaurant, she won’t eat it.

"You’re serving my silly... I an, cousin, this? It’s like you’re feeding a rabbit."

Sifrin glanced at the plates in Lynn and Xiya’s hands, and true to form, nothing good ca out of her mouth. She didn’t care what Catherine thought; Sifrin was always irritating like that.

"But it’s not too bad. At least my cousin’s rabbit grew quite big. Get a new set of cutlery; I want to try it too."

Before anyone could respond, Sifrin unabashedly glanced at Catherine’s chest, seed to swallow her saliva, and then treated herself like family, reaching out to Lynn to ask for food.

Who invited you!

Lynn really wanted to retort, but Xiya seed to read his mind and subtly nudged him with her elbow, as if calming him down from anger.

Well, for Catherine’s sake, and considering his good relations with the Saint Emperor of Light, they might as well let this sister-in-law and niece crash a al; it’s not like they’ll be eating him out of house and ho.

"Huh, why is my brother-in-law looking at like that? Look, all I said were a few more words, and you have that expression."

Sensing Lynn’s unwelco deanor, Sifrin furrowed her brows slightly and spoke in a cutesy, pitiful way.

"Little Yuna, get her a new set of cutlery."

With nothing to say to Sifrin, Lynn instructed Little Yuna to prepare the tableware for this uninvited guest.

"Okay, daddy!"

Little Yuna popped her head halfway over the door to the living room, replied sweetly, then leaped down and dashed into the kitchen.

"Brother-in-law, if you’re going to have this attitude, you might as well just ignore ; it’ll make seem like I’m making a scene."

Since Lynn ignored her comnts, Sifrin muttered again in her cutesy deanor, making Lynn feel his blood pressure rising.

Where did she learn this passive-aggressive talk? It feels even more grating than before. Did she co along just to annoy him? Doesn’t she know how formidable he is? Does she want to taste his great big sword?

If pretty girls often make n want to say "I love you" three tis, then with soone like Catherine, he’d hug her and tell her "I love you" ten tis a day.

But with soone like Sifrin, who was also beautiful, Lynn would only want to say three words when he saw her: "Go away now," and saying it once would be enough.

"Let’s go inside and eat."

Lynn cald himself, then headed into the living room. Xiya glanced thoughtfully at Sifrin before following him inside.

The pretentious Sifrin glanced back at Xiya’s gaze, suddenly feeling an eerie sensation as if she were being seen through. Goosebumps instantly rose all over her, but she quickly composed herself.

Strange, she thought. She knew that elf, a younger sister to the Elf Queen, not extraordinary in power and far less exceptional than her sister. But why was it so unsettling to be looked at by her?

Oh well, forget it. It’s tough enough trying to get familiar with Lynn yet ensuring he doesn’t fall for her. She didn’t have any more energy for other issues.

...

...

In the lively dining room, Little Youli and Little Yuna were sitting in the laps of Xiya and Vivian, who were in turn holding Gigi and Little Flower respectively.

Lynn sat next to Catherine, across from the peeking Sifrin. Even though it was his wife’s lovingly made dinner, he tasted it with little appetite.

Simultaneously, he cast worried glances at Xiya. It was fine for her to hold Little Youli, but Little Youli was also hugging Gigi. While a little girl couldn’t squash his elf wife, having a large orange cat as well was another story. Xiya’s slender arms and legs might not withstand this. She should be sitting in his lap, him bearing the burden instead.

"Brother-in-law, you’re being naughty, watching other won while eating with my cousin. I fear my cousin will weep in agony when less noticed..."

With Sifrin already being a nuisance, eating with Catherine had been unenjoyable enough. Now, she didn’t understand the etiquette of not speaking while eating, still sowing discord between the couple. Lynn nearly couldn’t resist shoving a fork into her mouth.

A Saintess like this, even goblins wouldn’t want her!
