Yang Qingxi glanced at Leng Shuang, a faint hint of approval appearing in her eyes.
’Not bad.’
It seed this assassin wasn’t as useless as she had initially thought. At the very least, she was quite suitable for handling Su Mo’s... less presentable tasks.
Her thoughts drifted for a brief mont.
’As long as she gets paired with Chu Jing... and takes the gender-change pill. She wouldn’t be any trouble at all.’
The corner of Yang Qingxi’s lips curved ever so slightly before she suppressed the thought and returned her focus to the present.
Su Mo nodded after a mont of consideration.
"Alright," he said. "We’ll do as you suggested. Shuang, keep an eye on him for ."
"Of course, Master." Leng Shuang responded imdiately, patting her chest with confidence.
The next mont, Su Mo raised his hand.
A gentle green light began to spread from his palm, flowing like a soft current of energy. It enveloped Du Wuchen’s body completely.
The faint trace of Yang energy lingering within him reacted almost instantly.
It was as if it had found sothing to anchor itself to.
The weak, dying strand of vitality began to stabilize, slowly strengthening under the nourishnt of Su Mo’s healing technique and the abundant Yang energy he infused into it.
Then, the change beca visible. The wounds on Du Wuchen’s body began to close. Torn flesh knit together. Internal damage that had already pushed him to the brink of death started reversing.
The entire process happened within seconds.
A man who had already been declared dead by the hospital... was forcibly dragged back from the edge of death.
---
Although Du Wuchen’s life was stabilized, he remained unconscious.
Su Mo observed him briefly before withdrawing his hand.
"He won’t wake up anyti soon," he said. "We could force him awake with spiritual energy, but not here."
Yang Qingxi nodded slightly. Taking him away first was the better option.
"Shuang," Su Mo said, "you’ll carry him."
Leng Shuang’s expression stiffened slightly.
"...Fine."
She hesitated for a mont before adding, "Master, can you use your transformation technique on him? It would be easier for to carry."
She wasn’t new to handling bodies. Her line of work had exposed her to worse things. But that didn’t an she liked it.
Now that there was a more convenient option, she had no reason not to ask.
Su Mo paused briefly, then nodded.
"...Fair enough."
He looked at Du Wuchen.
"What should I turn him into?"
"Anything small will do."
A faint ripple of energy passed through Su Mo’s hand.
The next mont, Du Wuchen’s body shrank rapidly, transforming into a small reptile.
Leng Shuang blinked.
"...A lizard?"
Su Mo glanced at her. "Convenient."
"...Well, alright."
She picked it up and placed it into her bag without further complaint.
---
With Du Wuchen secured, Su Mo shifted his attention.
If Du Wuchen couldn’t provide information imdiately...there was soone else who could.
Chief Jailer Zhou Kang.
From the mories he had already seen, Zhou Kang had clearly assisted Du Wuchen and his group in the operation against Ye Chen.
Which ant he knew everything.
Su Mo began searching again. One body after another.
But even after going through all of them, he didn’t find Zhou Kang.
A slight frown appeared on his face.
[What’s going on?]
[The news clearly said the Chief Jailer was dead...]
[So where’s the body?]
At that mont, Yang Qingxi’s voice broke his thoughts.
"Su Mo," she said, looking toward a nearby table. "What do you think is inside that box?"
She pointed toward a small ice container, sothing typically used to store drinks.
"I can feel strong Yin energy from it."
Su Mo’s attention shifted imdiately. He hadn’t paid much attention to it before.
Now, he narrowed his eyes slightly and activated his Devil’s Eyes again, looking directly through the container without opening it.
The next second, his expression darkened.
"What is it?" Yang Qingxi asked.
Su Mo exhaled lightly.
"...It’s Zhou Kang."
A brief pause.
"Or rather—his head."
Yang Qingxi and Leng Shuang both froze.
"A... head?"
"Cleaved cleanly," Su Mo added with a faint trace of discomfort.
Neither of them spoke for a mont.
Su Mo didn’t open the box. There was no need.
He raised his hand and activated his ability directly. The mory fragnts surged into his mind.
A few seconds later, he withdrew his hand.
His expression was thoughtful.
"Ye Chen is building his force in Jiangnan City," he said. "Those criminals... are all his subordinates now."
Yang Qingxi nodded slightly.
That wasn’t surprising.
Her focus shifted to sothing else.
"...Do you think he’ll bring his rcenary organisation here as well?"
Su Mo fell into deeper thought.
"I’m not certain," he said slowly. "But given the setbacks he’s faced..."
"If I were him, I would."
He paused, then added,
"And honestly... I hope he does."
Yang Qingxi glanced at him. "...You just don’t want to search for them yourself."
Su Mo smiled faintly. "Exactly."
At that mont, Leng Shuang’s surprised voice sounded. "Eh? Master, are you interested in King’s Palace Organisation?"
Su Mo didn’t deny it.
"I was planning to take them under my control," he said casually. "But tracking them down is troubleso."
Leng Shuang’s eyes lit up slightly. "In that case... I might be able to help."
Su Mo looked at her with interest. "Oh?"
"How?"
Yang Qingxi also turned toward her, her gaze sharper than before. She still underestimated this assassin’s usefulness.
Leng Shuang hesitated briefly, then said, "I have a friend. She is a hacker."
Su Mo’s expression changed slightly. "A good one?" A powerful hacker is a talent he needs very much.
Leng Shuang nodded confidently. "She’s the best I know."
She continued. "Moreover, she has connections with various underground organisations. Including a close relationship with the King’s Palace."
"Close? Like friends?" Su Mo asked.
Leng Shuang shook her head.
"Not exactly friends. More like... business."
"Money in exchange for information."
Su Mo’s interest deepened. "What’s her na?"
"Qian Lian." She paused slightly before adding, "Her code na is... Spider."
