"Every plane carries passengers... and sotis, it carries trouble no one is ready for."
Like today.
At seven in the morning, a flight landed at Jiangnan City Airport.
Among the crowd of ordinary travellers stepping off the plane, four figures quietly made their way out. Unremarkable at a glance, yet carrying a presence that didn’t belong to ordinary people.
Danger had arrived.
---
The airport was already in full motion.
Announcents echoed overhead in practised repetition, luggage wheels rattled across the smooth floor, and streams of people moved in every direction—so rushing, so lingering around the shops for rchandise or food, so scanning the crowd for familiar faces.
Near the exit, two security guards stood in their usual positions.
One leaned slightly against the railing, the other idly watched the flow of passengers. It was the daily routine—nothing out of place.
Until those four stepped into view.
They didn’t do anything unusual or suspicious behaviour.
But the mont they walked out of the arrival gate, the guards straightened instinctively.
"...You feel that?" one muttered under his breath.
The other didn’t answer imdiately. His eyes stayed fixed on the group.
Two n and two won.
The n had built as they belonged in a military camp—broad shoulders, firm posture, and a natural sense of discipline in the way they walked. One had a scar beneath his left eye, faint but sharp enough to leave an impression. The other looked strikingly similar, though his expression carried an odd, almost childish excitent.
The won drew even more attention.
Both were beautiful, but had a distant kind of beauty that warned people to stay far away.
One woman had her hair tied in a neat ponytail, a simple choker around her neck, her gaze calm and observant. The other had short hair with sharp-cut bangs, dark eye shadow accentuating her already cold expression.
People around them slowed down, just a little.
A man dragging his suitcase glanced over his shoulder twice. A couple instinctively stepped aside to give them space.
"Are those foreigners from the military?" one of the guards whispered.
"...Maybe on vacation," the other replied, though his tone lacked certainty.
Because whatever they were, they didn’t feel like ordinary people.
The four walked past the exit without sparing anyone a glance.
Only once they stepped outside into the open air did the silence between them break.
"Casey," the man with the scar spoke, his tone steady but carrying a hint of dissatisfaction, "why did the King suddenly change the eting place?"
Casey, the woman with the ponytail, pulled out her phone as they walked. Her expression remained composed, fingers tapping lightly on the screen.
"Richard," she replied, her voice calm, "didn’t you read the news I sent yesterday?"
Richard frowned slightly. "The prison? What was his purpose behind that?"
"I don’t know. However, the King indeed caused quite a commotion," she continued. "He’s currently on the move. Changing the eting location under those circumstances isn’t surprising."
Before Richard could respond, the other man suddenly clasped his hands behind his head, grinning widely.
"It’s been so long since I last saw my great King," he said, practically glowing with excitent. "I wonder if he missed . He must have, right? Calling us so urgently like this... he definitely couldn’t wait to see again."
The woman with short hair didn’t even bother hiding her disdain.
"Jerry," she said flatly, casting him a sidelong glance, "stop embarrassing yourself."
Jerry froze.
"The King is not into n," she continued, her tone sharp and rciless. "Accept reality."
For a brief mont, silence fell.
Then—
"Shut up, you bitch!"
Jerry’s face twisted, the earlier excitent replaced with indignation as he glared at her.
"It’s because of you!" he snapped, pointing accusingly. "You’re always hovering around him, seducing him—how is he supposed to notice soone like when you’re constantly in the way?"
Rose didn’t even blink.
She folded her arms, her expression unimpressed. "You really live in your own world, don’t you?"
"I’ve never seduced him," she continued, her voice cool. "And I’m not interested in him that way. I admire his strength. That’s all."
Jerry scoffed, though the jealousy in his eyes was impossible to hide.
"Yeah, right," he muttered. "Then why does he always pay attention to you?"
His gaze flickered over her, narrowing slightly.
"How are you any better than ?"
Rose raised an eyebrow.
"You’re mumbling loud enough for everyone to hear," she said dryly. "Idiot."
Jerry stiffened.
"I—I said that on purpose!" he shot back, though the slight hitch in his voice betrayed him.
Then, as if struck by inspiration, his expression shifted into sothing smug.
He glanced down at her chest, then puffed out his own dramatically—muscles tightening as he straightened his posture like a bodybuilder on display.
"You," he said, gesturing toward her, "what exactly do you have that attracts the King?"
He tapped his own chest proudly.
"The fat on your chest?" he added with a snort. "That’s smaller than mine."
For a mont, no one spoke.
Richard looked away.
Casey closed her eyes briefly, as if reconsidering her life choices.
Rose, however, stared at him.
Her eyes narrowed slowly.
"I usually ignore your stupidity," she said, her voice dropping just enough to make the air feel colder.
She took a small step forward.
"But if you keep talking..."
Her gaze locked onto his.
"I’ll kill you," she finished calmly, "and feed you to my pet alligators."
Jerry’s expression twitched.
"You—!"
"Okay. That’s enough."
Richard stepped in imdiately, grabbing Jerry by the shoulder before he could say anything worse. His grip was firm, leaving no room for argunt. "Jerry. Stop."
At the sa ti, Casey turned her head slightly toward Rose, her gaze calm but carrying a quiet warning.
Rose held her stare for a mont... then clicked her tongue and looked away.
A cab had already pulled up nearby.
"It’s here," Casey said.
Rose walked ahead without hesitation and got in, not even sparing Jerry a glance.
Jerry stood there for a mont, his expression dark and unwilling to let it go.
