"Captain Song, the woman has regained consciousness," Lu Han reported.

Captain Song imdiately headed over. Other than the victim and the suspected murderer, this unconscious woman had been present at the cri scene—aning she might hold crucial information.

As both a victim and a potential suspect alongside Ye Chen, questioning her was necessary.

Captain Song observed the trembling woman before her. If she wasn’t putting on an act, her condition was highly consistent with that of a traumatised victim. Regardless of personal impressions, protocol had to be followed.

"Please remain calm, Miss. I just need to ask you a few routine questions," the female officer said gently. After the woman nodded, the officer began.

"Na?"

"Li Su."

"Age?"

"Twenty-six."

"Occupation?"

"... I... accompany clients for drinks." Li Si hesitated, then answered truthfully.

The female officer noticed her reaction, but didn’t feel strange. It’s normal to feel awkward speaking about this kind of job.

"Understood. Miss Li, please describe the incident as you rember it. Any detail may be important."

Li Su’s voice trembled, but with the officer’s reassurance, she steadied herself enough to speak.

"Mr He and I were drinking together. Suddenly, the door was forced open from the outside. A man ca in... he had this twisted smile on his face. Mr He scolded him, but he rushed forward and slit his throat with a knife."

Her body shook as she recalled the mory.

"I was about to scream, but he covered my mouth. I tried to struggle, but then I felt a sharp pain in my back... and after that, I don’t rember anything."

When she finished, her shoulders sagged.

Captain Song approached and showed her a photograph.

"Do you recognise this man?"

"Yes—yes, that’s him! That’s the man!" Li Si’s agitated reaction didn’t seem fake. Her eyes showed genuine horror when she saw his photo.

"Thank you, Miss Li. We appreciate your cooperation."

Captain Song stepped aside with another officer. Once they were far enough, she asked quietly,

"Do you think she is telling the truth?"

The officer, trained in psychology and behavioural analysis, replied,

"From her micro-expressions and overall presentation, Captain, she does not appear to be lying."

"Hmm." Captain Song nodded, then called over the female officer who conducted the interview.

"She is concealing sothing. Find out what it is. Also, this bar does not employ hostesses of that nature. I want to know who contacted her and under what circumstances."

"Yes, Captain."

Later, while the officers were busy with the investigation. Su Mo and the girls were standing in the crowd, watching everything with the attitude of lon eaters.

[Is that Song Jinyu? The police officer heroine in Ye Chen’s harem.]

[Tsk~ Tsk~ As expected of her proud figure. She looks well-endowed in her cop uniform.]

While Su Mo was busy eating lons and criticising Song Jinyu’s figure in his heart. He didn’t notice that Yang Qingxi, beside him, had a stiff expression on her face and that she was looking at him with a cold smile.

[Now the plot direction is completely changed. I wonder what’s going to happen to Ye Chen next?]

[Will he be caught? If so, how long will he be in jail?]

[As the destiny protagonist, I don’t believe he will get the sa treatnt as the minor villain Dong Xumao, that is, 14 years of imprisonnt.]

[In any case, he won’t stay in for so long. Otherwise, by the ti he gets out, all the heroines might already be married and even have had their children.]

[What’s the point of coming out when the day lily is cold?]

[Chuckle]

Yang Qingxi didn’t believe that Ye Chen could be imprisoned for long. Otherwise, the title of the Destiny protagonist is too washed up.

Besides, Ye Chen needs to be caught first.

---

"Captain Song, we’ve located the target’s last confird position," Lu Han said, handing her a tablet. The screen displayed footage of Ye Chen entering a narrow alley.

"His counter-surveillance attempt was ineffective. He appeared on multiple cara feeds. This is the final point where he was recorded."

Song Jinyu frowned slightly. "Is there another route within the alley?"

"Yes, Captain. The alley connects to an internal passage on the far side."

This didn’t surprise her. Based on the evidence so far, the killing had been preditated. Soone who planned such a murder would certainly prepare an escape route.

"Continue reviewing all nearby surveillance. Dispatch two officers to search the vicinity imdiately and check for any discarded items or additional clues."

"Understood, Captain!"

"Notify the forensic departnt to prioritise the autopsy and scene analysis. I want the reports on my desk as soon as they’re available."

"Will do, Captain." Lu Han saluted lightly and hurried away.

Song Jinyu then addressed Officer Tang Hu.

"Officer Tang, once all statents and personal information have been recorded, you may release the witnesses. Ensure they understand they must remain available for questioning and cooperate whenever they are called."

"Yes, Captain!"

After Tang Hu left, Song Jinyu sat down, reviewing everything gathered so far.

Ye Chen was the murderer. The victim was He Xiong.

The motive remained unclear, but based on witness testimony and surveillance footage—where the suspect was even seen holding the murder weapon—the case appeared straightforward.

Yet sothing didn’t sit right with her. A strange feeling that sothing was off.

Why had the perpetrator behaved so boldly? Why no hesitation, no panic?

Is it because there are several lives in his hands?

If that’s the case, she won’t let such a perverted murderer roam free.

She will apprehend the murderer with her own hands and bring justice to the victim.

That was her duty—and her conviction.

***

At this ti, inside that dark alley. A loud groan sounded from the trash bin.

"Huh? What’s this disgusting sll?"

With a thud, the trash bin broke open, and a man covered in organic waste stood up.

"Damn! Whoever did this to ! Once I find out, I’ll kill them!"

Yes, the Destiny Protagonist Ye Chen woke up.
