Now reading: Chapter 68: Killer Targets Su Mo! from The Destiny Villainess Wants Me To Work!, a Fantasy novel by Dakshay.

The evidence, tilines, and proofs of Wang Cai’s cris—she had all of it neatly organised. For the right price, she could have handed it over without blinking.

But that would an dealing with the police.

Too much trouble.

They have too many questions, drag things out, and never pay enough to justify the risk. Worse, once you were on their radar, it was hard to step out of their sight again.

Nope. Not worth it.

She closed that path in her mind without hesitation and continued working alone.

As she combed through Wang Cai’s contact list, she expanded her scope to include his company. That was when sothing finally caught her eye.

An anomaly.

"Huh...?"

Her fingers froze mid-scroll.

Sixty-five percent of the company’s shares. That is, Wang Cai’s controlling stake had actually been transferred to soone else.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Why would Wang Cai sell his shares?"

It makes no sense. The man was greedy to the bone, obsessed with control and power. He treated his company like a personal ATM. Selling off his majority stake was the last thing he would ever do voluntarily.

Suspicion gnawed at her as she dug deeper.

On the surface, everything looked legitimate. The docuntation was complete. The procedures were clean. There was even Wang Cai’s authenticated signature, verified through proper channels.

Too perfect.

Then she noticed the timing.

Her pupils dilated.

"Impossible."

The share transfer process had actually begun after she kidnapped Wang Cai.

She leaned back slowly, heart sinking into a cold, sharp focus.

"I am certain the Wang Cai who died in front of was real," she thought. "So who signed this?"

The police didn’t even know Wang Cai had gone missing yet. His disappearance hadn’t been reported. No alarms had been raised.

So who else knew?

Her mind ran through several possibilities with ruthless efficiency. After a few minutes, only one scenario remained plausible.

"His partners must have found out," she concluded. "And they moved fast."

They might have discovered his kidnapping through private channels—his bodyguards, internal leaks, or probably by sheer coincidence. Taking advantage of the opportunity, they transferred his shares using so trick, like utilising so loopholes or forged authorisation.

But sothing still bothered her.

The new owner’s na.

Su Mo.

She stared at it for a long mont.

"No matter what," she muttered, "even if this Su Mo isn’t one of Wang Cai’s partners, there’s definitely a connection."

Coincidence didn’t exist at this level.

She would verify it herself.

Just as she began outlining her next steps, her phone buzzed.

The caller ID made her sigh.

"Sister Jing."

She pinched the bridge of her nose. "I haven’t even received paynt for one job yet, and I’m already laying the groundwork for the next," she muttered to herself. "Is there really such a hardworking person in this world?"

Then her expression darkened.

"And they still dared to trick my money," she added coldly. "Damn capitalists."

She answered the call.

A coquettish, syrupy voice flowed from the speaker.

["Xiao Mu, I miss you~"]

She rolled her eyes so hard it almost hurt. Still, she cleared her throat, adjusted her tone, and flawlessly slipped into the persona of Xiao Mu—gentle, slightly awkward, and unmistakably male.

"Sister Jing," she said warmly. "Do you want to see ?"

["Of course,"] the woman on the other end purred. ["You don’t think you can run away after sleeping with , right?"]

["If so, your Sister Jing would be really hurt."]

If Sister Jing could see her right now, she would have been deeply offended.

Behind the calm voice, Xiao Mu was internally rolling her eyes in frantic disgust, suppressing a very real urge to gag.

’Sister, she thought flatly, we literally just slept in the sa bed. I don’t even have the equipnt you’re imagining for doing the deed.’

"No, no, of course not," she replied smoothly. "Didn’t I tell you before, Sister Jing? I’m job hunting. I was just checking out companies that are hiring."

["Fufu~"] Sister Jing’s soft laugh, full of amusent, sounded. ["Then you should rember your promise too. Didn’t you say you’d live with ? Why did you run off?"]

Her brows twitched.

’Is this woman permanently in heat?’

"I’m sorry, Sister Jing," Xiao Mu said apologetically. "But if I live with you, I won’t be able to focus on finding a job. I might lose my motivation entirely."

["That’s serious,"] Sister Jing said teasingly. ["Then how about you beco my househusband? I’ll be the breadwinner."]

"Sister Jing, please don’t joke like that," she said firmly. "I ca to this city to work, not to beco useless."

["Being my househusband isn’t useless,"] Sister Jing replied. ["But fine, if that’s how you feel."]

"You’re very understanding, Sister Jing."

["Hold on,"] Sister Jing added. ["Even though I forgive you for breaking your promise, you still need to agree to one small request."]

"What is it?"

["Next week is my uncle’s birthday. I want you to co with to the family celebration."]

She paused deliberately.

"Isn’t that... inappropriate?" Xiao Mu asked hesitantly, though her lips curved into a faint smile.

["You’ve already done plenty of inappropriate things with ,"] Sister Jing laughed. ["What are you worried about?"]

"...That’s true," she replied after a beat. "I’ll be there."

["Good boy,"] Sister Jing said sweetly. ["When we et later, I’ll reward you."]

*Beep.*

The call ended.

She imdiately made a gagging motion, her face twisting in undisguised disgust.

"Truly a bitch in heat," she muttered. "How long has she been single to crave a man’s body like that?"

The thought left a bitter taste in her mouth.

’I never imagined,’ she reflected coldly, ’that choosing this line of work would require dealing with things like this.’

’I’m a straight woman. But I’m being harassed by a perverted woman who thinks I’m a man and makes dirty jokes.’

This feeling was humiliating.

Still, her eyes sharpened as she checked the date.

One week.

The family celebration would be her opening.

Sister Jing was nothing more than a chess piece. Nothing more, nothing less. A useful, disposable, and perfectly positioned tool for the next mission.

There was only a week left, which ant she couldn’t afford distractions.

"First things first," she said quietly. "I’ll deal with that Su Mo guy as soon as possible, then focus on the mission preparations."

"Ti waits for no one. I have to hurry."

"Su Mo, wipe your neck and wait for tonight."
