Chapter 10: Is It Really Okay to Lose Your Mind at a Maid?
Eve sat upright on the sofa, her back perfectly straight, hands folded over her knees.
She did not complain eagerly like an ordinary patient. Instead, she gazed calmly with crimson eyes and spoke three words:
“Madwoman.”
“Why are you insulting ? Did you co here just to pick a fight?”
“I have no mood to play along with you.”
“Ah… fine, fine. You are truly no fun,” she said helplessly, spreading her hands.
With the motion, the badge half tucked into her white coat slipped out, dangling from a thin tal chain and swaying gently.
Clearly written on it:
[Annabella | JM Clinic]
If she were truly just an ordinary clinic doctor, Eve would not have traveled so far. Only here could she obtain what she needed.
“The item?”
“Yes, yes,” Annabella dragged her words, tapping the table idly. “But I cannot give it for free, right? There must be so…”
Eve slowly ford a question mark on her face. “You intend to defect from the organization?”
Annabella’s playful smile froze instantly, sweat forming on her forehead. “I did not say that. You may insult , but do not throw such accusations around.”
She quickly stood, walked to the door, lowered the curtain over the glass panel, and flipped the sign from [Open] to [Closed].
Mysterious indeed—but what she was about to do was not exactly legitimate. She removed her white coat and tossed it.
It landed on Eve’s head.
Do not misunderstand—this was entirely Annabella’s action. When Eve removed the coat and tossed it aside, her vision cleared, yet the doctor was nowhere in sight.
A vanishing trick.
It made Eve frown.
Monts later, Annabella erged from the stairwell smiling, holding a sealed refrigerated bag filled with crimson liquid.
She tossed it in a perfect arc.
Thump.
“Accurate or not? Say sothing.”
Eve ignored her and picked it up. The palm-sized pack was filled with chilled blood, preserved for freshness and taste.
Today happened to be the maintenance threshold day. Though she could suppress the craving, she still needed periodic replenishnt.
Legally sourced, of course.
Her dim eyes fixed on the blood bag, throat tightening slightly.
She twisted open the cap and drank from it like a child’s jelly drink. No longer restraining herself, she held it gently with both hands and drank quietly.
Her posture remained refined, well-mannered despite the urgency. A trained Bloodkin indeed.
Soon the bag emptied, leaving only a faint residue.
She released it, a drop of blood hanging from her lips before her tongue drew it in.
A soft, satisfied sigh escaped her, the coldness on her face lting into a faintly dazed softness.
Across from her, Annabella watched with her chin resting in her hands, unable to suppress her smile.
It was not the first ti, yet she still could not look away.
Especially that agile tongue—Annabella’s thoughts wandered dangerously.
She coughed.
As the provider, seeing the recipient satisfied brought her emotional satisfaction as well. She even wished to feed her more—but the supply was empty.
“Not as good as last ti,” Eve comnted calmly.
“Right, I also think licking—” Annabella caught herself and coughed. “I an, cannot help it. I chose the freshest available. Make do.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Literal aning. Paid donation.”
She snapped her fingers and explained proudly. “Nothing cannot be solved with money. If it cannot, then the money is insufficient.”
“Girls who enjoy dressing up need funds. After my examinations, both sides benefit.”
Eve frowned. “How did you examine them?”
“Hair.”
“?”
Eve narrowed her eyes, understanding dawning.
Without a word, she hurled the empty blood bag.
Smack.
“Ow!”
Annabella had attempted to catch it but failed. The bag struck her forehead before sliding down.
She suppressed her irritation—she could not win physically.
“Young people should be calm, not violent,” she raised her hands. “At least admit it was fresh. I verified it personally!”
Eve’s gaze grew colder, like she was looking at sothing filthy.
Yet she also knew Annabella ant well—and she was uniquely irreplaceable.
Eve stood. Her purpose was fulfilled.
“Leaving already? You rarely co. Stay and chat? I am bored~”
Eve glanced back, speaking flatly only after freeing her skirt from being held. “I have work.”
“You are not actually addicted to being a maid, are you?”
“Just a mission.”
“I doubt it. Honestly you look stunning dressed like that,” Annabella grinned mischievously. “Serve instead. I will pay you… just let see what color you are wearing—”
She was speaking to empty air. Eve had already left.

Back outside, the streets carried damp morning air.
Eve opened her parasol against the sunlight and walked briskly over wet stone pavent.
At a street corner, a newsboy shouted headlines. Without stopping, she flicked a coin into his pocket and took the top newspaper.
Folding it under her arm, she quickened her pace.
She still had to et the head maid—she had slipped out during her brief morning break.
