Chapter 119 : Childlike Face, Giant…

Eve did not respond. She was lost in thought herself.

Could it be… that after eating fine food for so long, she had developed a unique preference?

If that were the case, things would beco troubleso. It would make her far harder to sustain.

The two bags of blood in the suitcase were definitely fine—she could tell that much.

The problem seed to lie with herself.

Even now, she still felt a little nauseous.

After a long mont, Annabella waved a hand in front of Eve’s face, finally pulling her back from her daze.

“Hey? Back to reality!”

She leaned closer, staring into Eve’s unfocused crimson eyes.

“That look of yours is emptier than soone who’s had their soul ripped out. Though to be fair, you didn’t have much of one to begin with.”

Eve blinked.

She looked at Annabella, and for once there was a hint of confusion in her gaze—almost like a silent plea for help.

“What should I do…?”

“What should you do? I’ve been thinking about that too,” Annabella muttered, rubbing her temples. “Feels like sothing’s growing inside my brain.”

“Don’t misunderstand. I an wisdom, not a tumor.”

As the person responsible for supervising the blood supply, she knew the situation was far more serious than it seed.

This was not simply a matter of being unable to drink blood.

Rejecting one’s only energy source—for a vampire—was practically the sa as slow suicide.

If she looked at it optimistically, the result would rely be physical weakness.

If she looked at it pessimistically…

Eve might end up bedridden for the rest of her life, no better than a vegetable.

Actually—

It might not even be that simple.

Even now, Annabella still tried to rationalize it.

“Maybe you’re just in a bad mood today and don’t have an appetite. You know, like when humans catch a cold and can’t eat?”

She asked again carefully,

“You really can’t drink any of it?”

“Mm… and also…”

“And also what?!”

Eve did not answer.

Instead, she closed her eyes.

At that mont, the source of the desire she felt—the only thing she truly craved—seed to beco a thin, invisible red thread floating in the air.

Only she could sense it.

It connected to her… stretching far into the distance.

At the other end was sothing she could not touch.

But the direction it pointed toward was unmistakable.

Morninglight Manor.

More precisely—

A certain room.

And a certain person.

A bloodhound searching for its prey, one might say.

“This isn’t right,” Annabella suddenly said, clapping her hands. “Rejecting blood? That’s way too rare—even for your species. Co with .”

She grabbed her white coat, threw it on, and pulled Eve out of the lounge.

They hurried upstairs to the second floor.

Along the way they passed several waiting patients.

But there was one figure among them who looked strangely out of place.

It was a girl in a white dical uniform, barely one and a half ters tall.

At first glance, you might assu she was a little girl.

But that would only an your perspective was too shallow.

Because once you saw her from the front—

Her face was sweet and youthful, yet her figure was unbelievably well-developed.

If Vivian saw her, Eve was certain she would imdiately lose her temper.

“This is the intern you ntioned?”

“Yep.”

“Isn’t this just child—”

“Hey! Don’t say it! Not important! Right now we’re dealing with your problem, okay?”

Annabella dragged Eve away before she could finish.

Soon they entered a laboratory on the second floor.

The room was filled with reflective glass containers and advanced dical machines that humd constantly. The air carried the strong scent of alcohol disinfectant.

Eve shook her arm free from Annabella’s grip with visible annoyance.

Then she followed behind her while Annabella rummaged through the equipnt.

“You always have very unconventional ideas,” Eve said calmly, returning to the interrupted topic. “But I didn’t expect you’d go so far as to hire child labor. Did your moral bottom line disappear along with your savings at the gambling table?”

“Don’t go slapping labels on ,” Annabella replied without turning around, handing her a brand-new syringe. “Hold this. You’ll need it in a mont.”

“Aren’t you going to explain?”

“Oh co on.” Annabella finally turned around, holding a full blood-drawing kit. “She’s an adult. She applied voluntarily to work here as a dical assistant.”

“In tis like these, finding a legally adult girl who’s hardworking, cute, and… well-developed is harder than you think.”

“Besides, do you really think I’d have improper thoughts about a kid? Do I look like that kind of person?”

Eve replied flatly,

“…Aren’t you?”

Annabella froze.

She opened her mouth as if to argue, but ultimately just shrugged and spread her hands.

“Think whatever you want. You’re not much better anyway.”

“?”

“Enough about that ‘legal lo—’ I an intern.” Annabella patted the dical recliner beside her and straightened the thin blanket on it. “Lie down. I need to draw a little blood for basic testing first, otherwise I can’t figure anything out.”

Looking at the needle that was about to pierce her skin, Eve suddenly felt an unexpected resistance.

It was not fear of pain.

Vampires tolerated pain far better than humans.

Rather—

She instinctively disliked the idea of having her own blood taken away.

Don’t take away the precious fine blood I finally managed to absorb…

(Tragic.)

Still, Eve lay down.

Her pale arm rested on the support as she waited for the needle.

Annabella’s hands were steady and professional.

As the needle approached, she reflexively spoke in a reassuring tone.

“Don’t worry, sis. My needle’s pretty big—you might need to bear with it for a bit.”

Eve sighed softly.

“Just hurry…”

Two minutes later, the oversized syringe was finally filled with blood.

Under the light, the liquid looked strikingly vivid. It even seed to swirl slightly within the glass, as if alive.

Ding.

Annabella flicked the needle lightly with her finger, squinting as she examined the blood inside.

At a glance it looked almost indistinguishable from human blood.

Beautiful.

Eve sat up at the sa ti and asked calmly,

“And now?”

“I don’t know.”

Eve: ?

Her crimson eyes reflected Annabella’s green-haired figure.

Although Eve’s expression did not visibly change, there was suddenly a feeling like a feline preparing to strike—fur bristling before an attack.

A charged punch ready to be unleashed…

“Wait, wait, don’t get angry,” Annabella said quickly while sealing the needle tip. “I know you’re anxious, but I’m even more anxious. If sothing happens to you, I’ll be in serious trouble.”

She placed the syringe into a new suitcase she had taken from the cabinet.

“Just because I don’t know much about vampire physiology doesn’t an I don’t have connections.”

“Connections?”

“Heh.” She snapped her fingers and lowered her voice, unable to hide the pride in her tone. “In this world, there’s only one doctor who can suppress soone as terrifyingly talented as .”

“In front of her, I’m basically the little one.”

“With her knowledge, she should be able to solve your problem. After all…”

Annabella paused, looking at Eve with sudden seriousness.

“Only vampires truly understand vampires.”
