Chapter 71: Don’t Speak, Just Keep Eating ()
Wooooosh—
The past few days had truly been windy and rainy. At tis the sky was perfectly clear, yet the speed of change rivaled a certain red-haired little girl.
Creak—snap…
The window swayed under the wind until it gently shut, sealing the room completely. How long the silence lasted, Eve had no idea.
She only knew she needed to stand quietly and wait for her Young Miss, who lay facedown on the bed with her face buried in the pillow, to speak first.
After a long while, as she wished, Vivian revealed half her face and peeked over as if spying, checking whether the maid beside the bed was still there and what she was doing.
Obviously—resting with her eyes closed.
She was very angry, though the reason was not only one.
One reason was that Eve had acted on her own, without even asking, kissing and nibbling at her neck as if humiliating it—and worse, she had even sucked on it!
It did not hurt anymore, yet when she looked in the mirror she still saw two glaring marks. She had assud they were rubbed out by force… perhaps even bleeding before?
Now they were clean enough that she could not be sure.
Thinking of it again, Vivian could not help cursing the culprit inwardly. And now that culprit looked perfectly fine and even had the nerve to stand there dozing?!
She grabbed another pillow beside her and, without hesitation, threw it in a single swift motion.
Eve did not open her eyes imdiately. Hearing sothing flying toward her, she calmly raised a hand and caught it, then slowly opened her eyes.
Their gazes t. Facing those still bared-teeth angry eyes, Eve did not know what to say. She could only apologize repeatedly and, for the first ti ever, slightly bowed toward the other girl.
“I am deeply sorry. I accidentally hurt Young Miss.”
“Heh. When I told you to stop, why didn’t you stop? Only realizing after making a mistake? Too late!”
“I don’t know why you were so rough,” Vivian muttered as she lightly touched the [ravaged] spot on her neck again, baring her teeth as her sharp words continued. “You were like a disobedient vicious dog—just kept resisting ! Idiot!”
Eve did not argue. She let herself be scolded and simply put the pillow back silently. After all, if one knows they are wrong, they must admit it and stand properly while being punished.
Seeing her like this felt like punching cotton, and Vivian lost the will to keep scolding. In the end she glared fiercely once more.
Then, sohow, the faint blush still lingering on her face deepened again.
She had said earlier there was more than one reason she was angry. This was the second.
“Go. Bring a new pair from my wardrobe. Less talking, more doing!”
The maid obediently complied, casually picking a white cotton lace-trimd tie-side style. Honestly… it was a bit bold.
When she handed it over, she received another eye-roll. She swore she had picked it at random—under the circumstances there was no ti to choose carefully.
Vivian snatched it away. She did not care whether the other saw anything; she only knew she felt uncomfortable, and very naturally reached beneath herself.
Eve imdiately turned her head aside. One should not look at indecency. Only after the sound of fabric brushing skin ceased did she turn back.
And then—what a coincidence—a flash of white flew straight at her.
The object was light, so she did not hear it at first. By the ti she realized, it was already too late.
Her vision turned white. Eve could feel it was very soft, and besides a faint fragrance, there was also sothing she could not quite describe…
Strange. Unable to analyze it, she raised her hand and took it down. After seeing clearly what it was, she froze.
“What are you staring at? It’s all your fault!” Vivian said with a flushed face, just finishing putting on the new one.
“……”
That might be true, but what did throwing it onto soone’s face an?
Too excessive—worn, freshly removed, still carrying a scent, and… hm?
“Young Miss, if you feel hot, I shall open the window.”
Vivian did not understand for a mont. Setting aside the conflict, she raised an eyebrow and replied, “What are you talking about? It’s weather for wearing a coat—why would I feel hot?”
“Is that so…” Eve lowered her head in thought, looking at the underwear in her hand and muttering softly, “Strange. Could it be it didn’t dry properly?”
……
Outside the window, a crow seed to pass by, cawing twice. Together with Vivian’s twitching mouth and that look of utter disbelief, it felt as though it mocked her incompetence.
Silence filled the air again. She wondered whether soone could just kill her already—she was truly fed up with this damned world.
Even asking nuns from the church to pray in shifts would not help this ti. If this fool had boldly said it directly, she would not have minded.
But instead she said it had not dried?!
Worse still, she looked completely serious, not joking at all. Vivian went numb, afraid to open her eyes in case reality itself was an illusion.
Veins bulged on her forehead. Her fists clenched, teeth grinding audibly, her cheeks reddening abnormally.
Woo—
Who had put a kettle on to boil?
Eve’s heart skipped. She suddenly sensed sothing wrong—killing intent. She instinctively looked around. Was there a third person in the room?!
There was not… yet the killing intent seed to grow stronger… hm?
“You are certain you are not hot?” Eve tilted her head.
“Hehe… hehe… hahahahahaha…”
“Young Miss, why are you laughing?”
Vivian trembled as she shook her head. Laughter overflowed from between her lips until it beca full hysterical laughter—almost frightening.
Then she lowered her head, covering her face with both hands and muttering, “Why… why… why…”
Suddenly she raised her head, eyes wide to the limit, a sickly smile hanging on her face—so unsettling that even Eve almost took a step back.
Honestly, even going half a month without drinking blood would not make her this deranged…
“Do you know where you were wrong?”
“I do.”
“No, you don’t.” Vivian smiled and gestured downward. After Eve obediently crouched, she continued, “Now I’ll give you a chance to atone. Will you take it?”
Eve did not speak, only nodded. Her perception of killing intent warned her she could resist at any ti—but compromise now was best.
“You like using your mouth, don’t you?” Vivian took the soft garnt back, spread it on her palm, and extended it toward her. “Use your mouth.”
“……”
“Ah… you had better not make repeat myself a second ti.”
Eve remained silent until the other girl gently touched her cheek, her expression full of coaxing persuasion.
“Where?”
“Wherever it didn’t dry—use it there!”
