Bojing and Shilin stepped out with a na and address in their hands. "W-we will give this to Boss."

"Yes. If you don’t mind, can you tell more about this tattoo?" Shilin asked.
"O-oh yes!"
As they walked, Bojing gave a brief account of the murder case at Dahua movie theater - Dai Yaling, who died by the hands of Ma Zhilan, who in turn had colluded with the forr’s daughter-in-law. One of the witnesses in that case, Wang Lei, turned out to be a person with this tattoo on his neck.

Shilin slightly widened his eyes. "Seems like a complicated problem."
Bojing shuddered. "W-what would they want to willingly die by Boss’s hands? I-It’s never a good outco."
They reached a separate room at the far end of the corridor and Bojing knocked on the door. "Se-senior Qin. Can I co inside? W-we got a new mber I want to introduce y-you to!"
He looked at Shilin and said, "The senior working h-here is Qin Ruwen. He-he is a specialist in toxicology and poisons. Y-You will rarely see him just like Senior Ren b-but that’s because h-he isn’t really an outgoing person. neither but Senior Ren had forced us to go i-in a club a few months back," he tearfully recalled the horror.
"Senior Qin and I were hit the worst! He doesn’t l-like to go anywhere bright. Th-That’s why we call him the Dark Guardian."

Who gives these nicknas? Shilin thought.
There was no response from inside. Eventually, Bojing opened the door ever so slightly. A streak of light escaped inside and a horror-laced gasp ca out.
"Close the door! Close the door! Aahh the light! Do you want to kill ?"
Bojing jolted with the shriek and shut the door imdiately. A sigh of relief from inside followed soon after.
He sniffled. "W-won’t you et my junior, Senior Qin?"
No response.
Bojing covered his face. "I-I am sorry for disturbing you!"
His shoulders dropped, dejected.
Shilin quickly said, "You don’t have to look so down, Senior Lu. I will et him so other ti."
"B-But he always stays inside in his dark office. You will never get to see him."
They heard a movent from behind the closed door and a small voice ca out. "I have a question for you, newbie."
"Yes," Shilin replied.
"Is the night sky more appealing to you or the blue sky?" His voice almost ca out as a whisper. His face was hidden by the blanket of darkness inside.
"The night sky," Shilin said without hesitation.
"I like you. Welco to Boss’s lab. I will eventually let you in the beautiful and never ending black abyss when I will like you so more. Adieus."
They heard his steps retreating and silence followed again. Bojing shone.
"H-He likes you! Great! Let’s go," Bojing chirped.
"That was it?" He asked, speechless.
"That was more than enough. Let’s go et the l-last person and then I-I will introduce you to other staff here."
Shilin sincerely hoped this last person would turn out to be a little more normal than his peers.

He didn’t.
At first, Shilin couldn’t even properly see the office. A dulling but soothing lavender scented fog hung in the air that partially blocked their view. Both couldn’t help but escape a yawn. He then noticed a life-sized plushie of a sloth tucked near the wall while the other side held plush armchairs and recliners. They were equipped with soft pillows and warm blankets. A calming, low-volu symphony of ocean waves played in the background, lulling them into relaxation.
"Let guess this one..." Shilin said, "He is a sleep specialist."
"Yes!"
"...And what’s he called?"
"The Sleeping Monster," he rrily said.
Aahh, as I had expected, Shilin smiled.
Bojing waved his hand to clear the fog and walked towards the couch. Shilin peered closer and saw a man sleeping on it with his back facing him. The ends of his slightly wavy black hair almost covered his eyes.
"S-Senior Bai. Wake up please. I w-want to introduce you to my j-junior!" He eagerly said.
The only response they heard was of his light snores.
Bojing cried. "P-Please wake up, will you? It won’t take much ti..."
Shilin whispered. "I think we should let him sleep."
He tearfully looked back at him. "B-But he is always sleeping. You w-will never get to et him any other ti..."
His brow twitched.
Why is it so difficult with every doctor here?
Bojing shook his shoulder harder. Eventually, the man moved and groggily turned his head. He was hugging a teddy bear to his chest. His sleepy and half-closed eyes blurrily stared at him.
Bojing bead but spoke in a whisper. "Senior Bai. M-et my junior, Shilin. He will start w-working with us from now on. Shilin, et Senior Bai Yingtai."
He bowed. "Nice to et you, Senior Bai-"
"Ssshhh..." he placed a finger on his lips and mumbled sothing.
Shilin didn’t understand his murmur. "Sorry, what?"
Bojing whispered back. "He is asking you to talk softer."
"I am sorry. Was I too loud?"
Bai Yingtai moved his lips again.
"He said to go a little extra softer."
Shilin looked awkward. "I still didn’t hear what he said..."
Bojing nodded. "That’s normal. N-Nobody understands when he talks. He mumbles most of the ti."
"..."
Is that normal? How does he communicate then?
Bai Yingtai asked a question which Shilin didn’t get to hear once again.
Bojing chid in. "He is asking if y-you want to join him to sleep?"
"Um..." Shilin scratched his chin. "I don’t think so. I am not feeling sleepy."
At that mont, Shilin saw a look of hurt and betrayal flash across whatever was visible of Bai Yingtai’s eyes. He muttered sothing and Bojing translated yet again.
"Never betray your first love."
"First love?"
Bai Yingtai whispered. Bojing said, "The bed."
Bai Yingtai was lethargic, but he still said a string of sentences in a low-pitched voice which Bojing said,
"A newborn baby’s first relationship he or she builds with is the soft bed underneath him or her."
"..."
"Only sleeping and eating becos his identity before any family last na. So never disrespect your first relationship and never deny the ti to sleep. Snooze your way to success. Embrace your innermost desire to nap just like a child."
It seed as though Bai Yingtai had spoken more than enough for the day. Shilin thought he could see the imaginary energy points rapidly draining. Bai Yingtai turned his body towards the couch again and shut his eyes to sleep.
Bojing was satisfied. Shilin was still confused as hell.
"That’s it?"
"He w-will be very displeased if we wake him u-up again. Anyway, I wanted to introduce you and we have a-accomplished that mission here!" He cheerily said.
Are you sure that’s accomplished, Senior Lu? Because I don’t think he will rember the next ti we et.

After the introductions were all in place, Bojing now bead like a bright ray of sunshine as he walked him down the lab’s infrastructure.
"Everything went so s-smoothly."
Shilin flashed a smile though he inwardly shared other sentints.
I am struggling to understand which part went smooth exactly...
They faced a room before them and a left turn. Bojing took the turn. Shilin asked, "Senior Lu. What is that room?"
Bojing looked back and stiffened. He thought about the woman patient inside who needed a heart transplant. "O-Oh. Well...This is a restricted area. O-only Boss and I are allowed here. So re-rember not to go in, okay?"
Shilin paused. "I see."
"I will keep that in mind, Senior Lu," he said with a smile while throwing a last glance at the closed ward.
