The food arrived at the table and ng Rin oddly remained silent. Her glassy gaze looked deep in contemplation.
Mingshen was starving so he was already happily digging into his food.
"Em~ Delicious. Yes, this is what class food is," he nodded in appreciation.
Jia shook her head at his enthusiasm and looked at ng Rin. "Is it okay if I ask so questions? I am a little curious."
"Yeah sure. In fact, I am of the sa opinion as Haoyu," she pursed her lips. "I don’t think yy would have killed Director Wan. So if my answers could help you in decoding sothing then please ask by all ans..."
Jia smiled. "Thank you. You told about Chow y. What can you tell about her equation with Wan Guanting?"
ng Rin said, "It’s not so friendly if I may say and now you can understand why. Director Wan didn’t want her at first for the role. These were the rumors floating around then. It was hard to say if it was true or not. But when the shooting started, yy always kept her distance from him. She would only interact with him on a perfunctory and need to basis. I had even seen her blatantly ignoring him one day. Director Wan looked quite furious that she didn’t give him any face."
Mingshen chid in as he elegantly sipped on his wine. "He doesn’t have a very handso face to give face to begin with."
"..."
"Ignore him," Jia said. "Is that the only source of friction between them that you are aware of?"
ng Rin gave it a thought. "Yeah. I don’t think there was anything else. This was mainly the gossip I was hearing."
She jolted with her phone buzzing again.
Jia said, "It’s fine. You can attend it."
"No, no. It’s fine. Just so spam ssages..." She quickly replied.
"I see," Jia took a bite of her food and continued. "Can you guess why Chow y would be having a key card to Director Wan’s room?"
Her countenance imdiately changed and a tense wave of anxiety glinted in her eyes. "I don’t think it was like that between them..."
"I am not insinuating that. But it’s quite strange for soone to hand you their key card. I am simply trying to understand the reason here."
"Honestly I don’t know either. I found it shocking myself. yy never hung around him, so it’s hard to fathom why Director Wan would give her his key card or why she would accept it."
"And what does Dong Haoyu think about it?"
ng Rin scratched her chin. "Yeah it’s obvious that he has feelings for her though they aren’t officially together. But he would think the sa as . He won’t doubt yy even for a second. He is very devoted to her. Honestly, I feel jealous."
Jia stared at her plate in a thoughtful daze for a long ti.
"It hurts when you ignore , Spicy~" Mingshen comnted.
Her eyes squinted at him. "I am surprised sothing actually hurts your stone heart."
ng Rin choked. She then asked with a hint of eagerness, "Are you two dating?"
"..."
"Oh my God, no please God no!"
How many tis will this sa misunderstanding occur!?
Mingshen’s face blossod like a sunflower opening up its petals in the sun. "I like you! You have good eyes~"
He was sitting to her right so Jia couldn’t even kick him lest her injury worsen. She did jab the stick on his leg hard though. She then practically begged ng Rin. "We are just colleagues."
"But you look so good together," her once withering gaze was now beginning to shine. "Are you seriously not considering him?"
"..."
Mingshen held a solemn gaze. "Yes please answer her, Spicy. When will you consider ?"
"Not even when the world ends and you will be the last man in this universe," she jeered in disdain.
"Hahahaha..." ng Rin burst into laughter. "You two are cute. Your banters are hilarious."
Jia looked horrified. "Please don’t say such things that will give a heart attack."
"Worry not Spicy~ Your doctor is right here to save you," he teased.
ng Rin sheepishly grinned. "Don’t worry, Dr. Yang. I will be happy to date you~ So, so! Will you consider ?" She asked expectantly.
"My heart is only set for Spicy~"
She pouted. "I promise I will be a good girlfriend."
Jia dryly said, "Don’t go down that path, ng Rin. It’s my sincere request to you."
"Aish, are you already feeling jealous, Spicy?" His eyes twinkled.
"Hahaha..." ng Rin continued to laugh, which soon made her eyes shine with mistiness.
Jia’s eyes slightly widened. "Are you okay?"
"Ah? Oh this..." she quickly wiped off the corner of her eye, "It’s nothing. It’s nice to have soone you can bicker with..."
It’s not cute bickering, it’s firing jabs back and forth, Jia grimaced.
She cleared her throat. "If I may go back to the topic, when you reached your room, did you imdiately go to sleep?"
Jia noticed her going stiff. It was very faint to catch but a hint of a discomfort darkened her bright eyes.
"Not imdiately...I was really drunk. Caishen and I have rooms on the sa fourteenth floor in A wing. Director Wan’s room was on the twelfth floor of the B wing. He literally had to carry across the whole swimming pool in between the wings and back to my room. But I didn’t really feel sleepy," she slightly averted her eyes. "I got bored after an hour or so, so I just staggered out on the balcony for so fresh air. That’s all."
"This must be around?"
She shrugged. "I guess three-thirty or so. I was so drunk. Everything was spinning in front of . I was even hallucinating that sobody was walking on top of the pool’s water," she laughed. "That was funny. Anyway, that’s that and then I went back."
Jia was slightly inclined to think that for so odd reason, ng Rin was trying to end this line of conversation as quickly as possible as if she didn’t want to dwell on it. Her fingers fidgeted on her wine glass with her gaze looking furtive. Her phone rang again with a call this ti but she ignored it.
As Jia was lost in her thoughts, unexpectedly, Mingshen dropped a question, "Who was sitting close to that director when you all were partying in his room?"
That snapped Jia out of her stupor and she leaned in to listen.
ng Rin frowned. "I don’t rember...I an our places were not really fixed. We were all walking around the room. Sotis Caishen or Haoyu would talk to him, other tis Manchu, then I would approach him. As always, yy kept her distance."
Mingshen then asked, "Who was handling the drinks?"
She scratched the top of her head, vaguely recalling the events.
"Yeah I think it was Manchu serving the drinks to everyone."
