Jia dragged Mingshen out of the room and stared at his black eyes, trying to find deceit in them. "You..."
Mingshen bead. "I cannot believe that you would pull out of the room like this. Did you suddenly crave for so romance, my dear?"
He grinned and took a steamy step closer, flailing his arms wide. "Co and jump for a hug right in~ My arms always welco you."
Jia placed her firm palm on his chest, putting a stop to his unneeded enthusiasm. She didn’t break eye contact or her expression. "So you are serious when you say that you will deal with Dong Haoyu."
"Did you perhaps think I was joking my dear?"
Her eyes narrowed. "Don’t take for a fool, Mingshen! Right when Dong Haoyu is supposed to be arrested, sothing like this happens. Sounds awfully convenient. Did you...did you plan this?"
He cocked his brow up. "How co everything is shady for you? I got no involvent here. My new assistant was shot. What did I do here?"
"Maybe you roped in Shilin in your plan. And how difficult will it be for you to get a gun inside anyway? The more I think about this, the more this doesn’t feel right."
She kept her gaze fixed at Mingshen, unable to discern his intentions.

The mont she heard of Mingshen’s declaration of taking Dong Haoyu’s custody with him, alarm bells rang in her mind. She instinctively wondered if everything was actually going according to his plan. She felt it in her gut but didn’t have any evidence to prove it.
Her brows crinkled with a thought.

This reminded her of the Dahua movie theater case where Mingshen had similarly tried to bury Ma Zhilan and Dai ihui’s guilt. The only difference here was the approach.
Mingshen tilted his head. "You might get a fever if you think that hard. I wouldn’t want you to turn like little chili~"
She angrily laughed, taking a warning step towards him. His intimidating and roguish presence didn’t faze her one bit.
"That’s one hell of a way to twist the contract like that."
He shook his head. "When will you learn to trust ?"
"Trust a devil who is never upto any good?"
"How about I show you all my good parts in our lovely bedroom~?"
The answer was right before Jia. She could read it in his mischievous, gleaming eyes.
Mingshen stepped forward and towered his tall presence over her. He looked down at, a smile curling at the corner of his lips.
"You look too uptight, Spicy. You have bags under your eyes. You didn’t have a good sleep last night, didn’t you?"
The more she thought about Chow y’s future, the more she felt the sleep drifting farther away from her. She was furious at Mingshen, yet at the sa ti, she felt incredibly lighter as if an invisible burden was shaken away. She lowered her gaze, feeling guilty of her conflicting feelings.
A finger tapped under her chin as it was lifted up.
"Guilt doesn’t suit your beautiful face, my dear. You look better when you spit fire."
"Spitting fire doesn’t seem to burn you down."
A rry chuckle rang. "I am more than willing to burn in your hellfire~"
Jia held his hand and lightly shook it away, squinting her eyes. Mingshen didn’t mind. He saw her turning away, walking away from him.
He leaned his fra against the railing and said in neither a low nor high pitch, "I can perhaps give it a thought if you request ."
Jia paused and turned from a distance. "Did you say sothing?"
Mingshen looked into her eyes and grinned. "Nothing~"
Jia frowned at him and walked away.
"Heh..." he laughed. "She definitely heard ."
"Heard what?"
Mingshen looked back and raised his brow at Chow y standing behind him. "Sothing she could have used to release the guilt eating away her heart but she chose not to~ That’s why I love Spicy so much. She is a walking contradiction."
He then asked, "Why are you here anyway?"
Chow y clenched her fists. "I didn’t understand much about the conversation between you and Miss. Song. But...wh-what are you going to do with Haoyu?"
He smiled. "What do you want to do with your Haoyu? Oh my, is it along the lines of forgiving and setting him free?"
She pressed her lips and said with a hint of desperation. "Please punish for what he has done but let him go."
"Oh my, do I see a change of heart towards your lover?" His eyes twinkled. "Perhaps the garden walk changed you a lot~"
She didn’t respond.
Mingshen turned his back on her without addressing her question. His white coat fluttered in the wind as he left, leaving Chow y in a dilemma. She clasped her hands together, tense about the future consequences.

She felt a hand on her shoulder, making her gasp. As her gaze fell on Dong Haoyu, her countenance flared into fury. She grabbed his collar and gritted her teeth.
"What do you think you were doing!"
He stared at her and softly held her trembling hands. "I am sorry for scaring you. But everything will be alright."
"How...will everything be alright! That doctor is from the underworld and y-you hard one of his n! He won’t let you go!"
From behind him, Bojing arrived, his beautiful face filled with animosity for Dong Haoyu. "Get going already! You won’t be spared for hurting Shilin!"
Shilin was also brought out in a wheelchair with Mingshen’s dressing wound on his waist where he was shot. He looked slightly weak and pale.
"Shilin!" Bojing rushed to his side. "Y-you are sweating!"
He smiled. "I am fine Senior Lu..."
"Let’s go. Y-you need a lot of rest!" He glared at Dong Haoyu behind him. "You too!"
Dong Haoyu glanced at Chow y once and then walked away. She soon collapsed on the floor, her knees falling weak and as tears blurred her eyes.

*Knock knock*
Mingshen, who was just done being dressed up after his hot, relaxing bath, commanded. "Co in."
The door slowly hinged open and the sound of rolling wheels echoed in the majestic Queens’ chamber.
Mingshen raised a devilish smile. "My assistant’s assistant. How is the wound now?"
Shilin smiled back. His pale complexion was nowhere to be seen as he effortlessly got up from his wheelchair.
"Dr. Yang personally treated . Of course, I will be alright."
Mingshen tilted his head, his enigmatic gaze staring right into his soul. A sly chuckle escaped his lips.
"I am glad I decided to bring you here too. Your senior wouldn’t have been able to aid like you did. He is too pure for his own good. On the other hand..." his black eyes glistened with zeal, "you are very adept in donning different masks."
He smiled and bowed. "You flatter Boss. It’s you who can change your mask at the drop of your hat."
