The judge declared a two week gap after which the case would be resud when the prosecutor lawyer would be ready with his evidence against the false dical reports. Though the case was still in progress, the whole point of it was already settled.
The court denied the surgery. It sank Jia’s heart.
"We can take the opinions of more doctors, right? If everybody agrees with Mingshen, then we can convince the judge to think more about it and perhaps he would reconsider his decision."
Huojin pressed his lips. "Jia, Ehuang’s case is complex. I do understand the need for it, but I don’t think any doctor would give a hundred percent surety."
"But everybody knows that if Mingshen will be doing the procedure then-"
He shook his head. "He is a great doctor, no doubt about it, but things can go wrong in any way once you are on the operating table. It’s not even in Mingshen’s hands."
Jia released a silent breath and clenched her fingers into her palm.
"Then...what are we supposed to tell her, Huojin? She has her hopes on us. She will be devastated..."
His gaze dimd with despair just like hers. "I don’t know, Jia. I don’t know what we are going to do."

Mingshen opened the door to Ehuang’s room where Jin was already beside her talking and laughing with her. Jin’s parents were outside who accompanied him.
Compared to the ti she was brought on that stormy night, Ehuang’s condition had greatly improved. Her injuries were healing and with Bojing, Shilin and Zhiyou’s company, her ntal state was improving too. Jin would diligently co everyday to et her and they talked about a lot of stuff.
He stepped in and they bead with his presence. "Dr. Yang!"
He looked around and asked, "Where is Zhiyou?"
"Sis Zhiyou said that she will bring so hot chocolate for us. But she has gone for a long ti now."
"It would be evening by the ti she would return," he shrugged. "She is not good with directions."
"But she works here," he blinked.
"Doesn’t matter. You are not getting that hot chocolate any ti soon."
"..."
He checked her vitals and said, "Good recovery."
Ehuang softly smiled. "It’s only because of you, Dr. Yang."
Jin clasped his hands together and asked with anticipation, "What happened at the court? Did the judge give his permission for the procedure?"
Ehuang, too, looked at him hopefully.
Mingshen said, "No. The court denied the surgery."
They froze. Ehuang’s heart sank and tears brimd her eyes. "So he...he listened to Mom and Dad?"
Jin wiped his eyes. "H-How is it possible? Sis Jia promised us that the decision will be in our favor because what Ehuang’s parents are doing is wrong. Then how did he agree to it?"
"The reason is more because of the complexity of the procedure rather than her parents’ refusal. It can be risky and the court doesn’t want to take that chance."
Their expressions turned pale. Ehuang trembled and soon burst into tears. Jin bit his lip hard, trying to hold back the despair from overwhelming him.
I have to be strong for Ehuang’s sake.
He held her hand and tried to smile. "Don’t cry, Ehuang. It doesn’t matter what the court says. I will always be at your side. We will figure sothing out. Nothing is impossible for this mighty Xiong Jin hehe."
Ehuang’s chest swelled with his kind words, his strength and his acceptance towards her.
"C-can you find sis Zhiyou for ? I really want that hot chocolate now..."
"Of course! I will be back in a jiffy!" Jin jumped on his feet and dashed away like lightning.
Ehuang looked up at Mingshen and said hoarsely, "If he wants then he can easily find another girl. A normal girl w-who doesn’t have so many problems attached to her."
Mingshen stayed silent.
"But he is honest and very stubborn. He doesn’t like studying but now he stays up all night to do better in tests. He used to get into fights, but he stopped doing that too for . He didn’t go away even when I told him about my strict parents."
She clutched her blanket as her tears plopped down. "He has made very happy, Dr. Yang. Always. He has done a lot for . Even now...he accepted without batting an eyelid. So...can I not do sothing for him this ti?"
Mingshen stared into her misty eyes that shone with resilience and determination.
"It doesn’t make you any less of a woman. You don’t have to lower your head in sha or feel degraded that you lack sothing. You are one fine girl, Ehuang. Stronger than most of the useless and cowardice adults I know of."
Her teary eyes brightened. "Thank you Dr. Yang. I respect you a lot and I know that Jin would also treat just the way you said. But, I really love him. I feel really happy when I am with him. Then is it so wrong for to wish for happiness when he touches too?"
"You might lose your sensation over your thigh too."
"It doesn’t matter to . What will I do with my leg if I cannot feel the joy that Jin brings ?"
"It matters to the court."
"It is my body. Trust , I am not being ignorant about the risks. You are the best doctor and I have faith in you. But even if for so reason, things don’t work out, I won’t bla anybody nor will I regret my decision. You said that it will be too late if we delay any longer. Otherwise I would have waited until I turned eighteen and decided by myself as an adult. But there is no ti. So d-do I have to get punished now for being sixteen?"
Mingshen said nothing.
She tremblingly tugged his coat. "For once, I want to do sothing that I want. It took a long ti to find my courage. Please...please help , Dr. Yang."

Mingshen stepped out of the room and saw Jin sitting down near the door, continuously wiping his reddened eyes.
"She won’t change her mind..." his voice choked. "I know. She appears very timid but she is actually very strong. Even stronger than . Ehuang is the coolest person I know. That’s why I fell in love with her..."
Jin gazed up at him with a grin. "You are the second coolest person I know. The best doctor. That’s why I know that she will be safe with you."
He got up and said, "I will give this hot chocolate to her now."
He bowed and went inside.
Bojing peeked from behind a wall and asked, "B-Boss?"
Shilin stared at his back and waited.
Mingshen removed his coat and turned. "Prepare the OT. We are doing the surgery."
