Jia leaned forward with a grim expression. "Whatever you told right now, will you say the sa in court?"
Yu Heng was flabbergasted. "Testify against Bro Long? Are you crazy? No way! He will kill !"
"He won’t kill you because he will be in jail. Your brother and sister-in-law are painting themselves to be pitiful parents, but if the court ca to know that Yu Long actively searched for a shady doctor which coincided with the ti of the surgeries, it will be proved that there was never an accident."
"Don’t get into this ss, please!"
"This is not any ss. This is you trying to help your niece! You already shed away your responsibilities multiple tis in the past and now it’s ti to compensate at least a little. Besides..."
She leaned back, folding her arms. "If you don’t assist us, then that’s also fine. But keeping information from the police will get you in trouble anyway. A little child was made to go through such a horror, so as a doctor, you understand that this is a very heinous cri, right?"

"The law is even stricter with cris against children. Withholding the information will also make you a suspect and partner-in-cri."

Yu Heng was deeply troubled. Neither he wanted to help Yu Long nor the law. He was stuck at a rock and hard place.
"Think about it carefully and let know about your decision. I will leave my number with you. For now, tell another thing. Is there anybody else you know related to Xie Jietang?"
He looked deflated but still answered. "I don’t know about his contacts, but you can visit the hospital he worked at. There might be so bent helper who worked with him under the table. There must be one."
The hospital was Jia’s next destination anyway.

Jia exited Yu Heng’s office and checked the hospital’s address on the map on her way out. Just then Huojin’s call flashed on her mobile.

"Co back to the bureau right now, Jia."
Huojin’s grave voice rang alarm bells in her mind. "What happened?"
"Just co. It’s damn serious."

Jia breathlessly rushed into the bureau and asked, "What’s wrong?"
Jin’s parents were seated opposite Tang Haitao, who held a severe expression.
Weren’t they at Mingshen’s lab? She wondered.
She eyed Huojin, who looked as if the world was going to collapse.
"Sir Tang...?"
Tang Haitao glanced at her and said, "Ehuang’s case is going to beco extrely difficult to handle now. Next to impossible."
"I don’t understand..."
"You were right in the beginning, Jia. I shouldn’t have brought Yang Mingshen to our unit. I shouldn’t have let him beco the lead forensic expert."
Mingshen?
"Do you know what he has done?"
Jia pressed her lips in silence and waited. Her heart touched the roof of anxiety.
"Jin’s parents were at the lab when they saw what he did. Despite the court’s clear order against Ehuang’s surgery, he went ahead and did it anyway. Yes, it was successful but the result won’t be held in his favor. The judge won’t absolutely tolerate this."
She stood rooted blankly.
"Mingshen perford the surgery on his own violation. Do you know what this ans? Not only does it severely weaken our case against her parents, but it also threatens Mingshen’s dical license."
She said nothing.
"To perform such a difficult surgery on an underage girl without the parents’ consent and even going against the court’s orders, the dical association will not spare Mingshen for this."
The world worked in mysterious ways. Sotis the mind would be so chaotic and barraged with thoughts left and right that nothing made sense. Sotis it would go absolutely silent and work as slow as a turtle’s pace.
Jia was experiencing sothing very similar. There were millions of questions rampaging in her mind yet even amidst that seemingly unsolvable havoc, she could gather the important threads that tied together.

"There are extrely high chances of Mingshen’s dical license to be revoked."

Jia had never felt so crystal clear in her thoughts before. Not only in terms of swiftly understanding what might have possibly happened but also as to what she was supposed to do next.

Tang Haitao blinked. "I am sorry?"
"I told Mingshen to go ahead with the surgery."
The air fell absolutely silent. Neither Tang Haitao nor Huojin uttered a word.
Mr. and Mrs. Xiong threw a flabbergasted look.
Tang Haitao’s expression was slowly beginning to darken. "Do you have any idea what you are saying?"
"Yes. I am completely in my senses. When I heard the judge’s decision, I contemplated for a long ti. Even though the judge was afraid to take the risk, I didn’t see it that way. I admit I have my clashes with Mingshen but there was never a doubt that if sobody could pull this surgery off then it would only be Yang Mingshen. I have personal problems with him but I don’t doubt his dical skills even for a second."
She looked at him straight. "Ehuang deserved this chance to live a normal life. It was my decision and I urged Mingshen to go ahead with the promise that he won’t be in any problem. So if there is anybody to be punished, then it is ."
"You are doing this to protect him," Tang Haitao stated.
"I was going to surrender myself regardless of whether the surgery was successful or not because he acted upon my discretion."
Huojin closed his eyes.
Tang Haitao’s countenance worsened. "You have no idea what you are doing."
"I am doing the right thing, Sir Tang. Isn’t that what you have always taught us?"
"I never taught you to bear sobody else’s burden."
"This is my burden to bear. It’s simple. I told Mingshen to go ahead because I felt strongly for Ehuang. No girl deserves to live like this."
There was a period of long silence after which Tang Haitao said, "Huojin, take Jia into custody and Song Jia."
He stared at her, his expression tightening.
"Surrender your gun and badge. You are suspended from duty until further notice."
