As Tang Haitao had expected, the court case against Ehuang’s parents was going downhill.
Dr. Xie Jietang was dead.
His helper was dead.
Yu Heng was dead.
There was nothing left now that could really prove Yu Long’s prior and deliberate connection to Xie Jietang. Though Jia’s recording was available and despite nurous attempts by the prosecutor to consider the evidence, the judge refused to bend.
The second matter of Jia’s confession had also caused a roar in the courtroom. The judge was clearly furious at Jia’s blatant disrespect of the court’s judgnt and ordered a separate investigation and court hearing for her case.
Until then no bail would be granted to Jia.
"Honorable Judge, I please request you to order for an investigation into Mr. Yu Heng’s death. It cannot be a coincidence that just two days before the court’s hearing when he was supposed to testify against his brother, he suddenly died in an accident! There is sobody who doesn’t want him to expose this whole shady and illegal practice of surgeries!"
The judge said, "That investigation is a separate matter and will be handled separately. For now, there is no basis or any other evidence to convict Mr. Yu Long and his wife of any cri. I cannot unnecessarily keep them in custody."
"But Mr. Yu Heng’s death-"
He raised his palm. "We can hear the prosecution if you are able to establish a link between his death and Miss. Ehuang’s surgeries. Until then, the court will relieve Mr. and Mrs. Yu of the accusations."
"Thank you so much, Honorable Judge. We cannot express how happy we are," Yu Long said with reddened eyes.
"But you are also not allowed to leave the city until the investigation of Mr. Yu Heng’s death is concluded."
"A-and Ehuang?" Mrs. Yu burst out in tears. "We can et Ehuang right? I-It has been days since we saw her. We don’t even know how she is doing!"
"You can et your daughter but under strict super-"
"No."
Mingshen’s cold voice echoed from the back of the court. "I do not permit."
Judge Zhi narrowed his eyes. "Dr. Yang. You are not allowed to-"
"I am Ehuang’s doctor-in-charge. I decide who she can et and who she cannot. So for the sake of her ntal health which will go for a toss the mont she sees her loving parents," he sneered, "she can collapse into devil knows what state. Will you take responsibility for it?"
"Dr. Yang. You put Ehuang in danger by going ahead with the surgery, yet you have the nerve to point your fingers at ? Even though Superintendent Song Jia is in custody, you are equally the culprit before the law for agreeing to her demands. The dical Association will still demand an answer from you."
Mingshen looked bored. He simply grabbed the file from Bojing’s hands and handed it to the court’s attendant.
"I am the doctor and there is my seal and signature right there on the papers. Her parents, under no circumstances, will appear anywhere near my lab to try to et Ehuang. The consequences will be deadly if I even see a hair of theirs popping out."
"T-this is ridiculous! How can he restrict us from eting Ehuang! She is our daughter!" Yu Long cried. "Honorable Judge, this is unfair."
The judge said, "Dr. Yang. Please be a little reasonable. Ehuang needs her parents. She will be under your care only until her injuries are healed."
"She will be in the Yang family’s care for as long as it’s needed. She is not going back to that house," he yawned.
Mrs. Yu gasped. "T-this is preposterous! He cannot snatch our daughter from us like that!"
Judge Zhi’s gaze looked cold. "Dr. Yang. I am the one who gives the orders here. Do not challenge ."
"I am Ehuang’s doctor. Do not challenge either."
The threat in Mingshen’s eyes superseded Judge Zhi’s by several notches.
Rather than allowing the parents to et their daughter, the question now was simple.
Did the court really want to challenge Mingshen’s authority and in turn, challenge the underworld too?
There was the cooperation contract but the complexity of Ehuang’s case made the clauses and terms blur of the underworld’s interference with the law.
Eventually, Judge Zhi acceded to Mingshen’s declaration, much to the parents’ horror.
Mingshen left the court with a tearful Bojing following him. He got a call from one of his n and he walked aside to pick it up.
While he talked, Bojing could only pray.
W-what will we do now? Ehuang’s parents got released and there will be a court case against sis Jia!
"Bojinggg!!!"
He looked up and a familiar figure furiously waved her arm at him from a distance. He gasped with a pleasant surprise.
"Zexi!"
Zexi rushed towards him and imdiately crashed into his hug. "Bojing! I missed you!"
"I-I missed you too!" A waterwork of tears escaped.
"Aish! You are still the sa! You should be happy that your girlfriend has completed her graduation and even scored her first job!"
Zexi was studying in another city for her graduation in the subject of gas developnt.
"T-these are happy tears only..."
She sighed and wiped his cheeks.
"W-what are you doing here Zexi?"
"How can I not be here? I heard about sis Jia and I had to run here! How is she?"
Bojing cried. "S-sis Jia is still in custody and she will be presented in court next week..."
"No way," Zexi gasped in horror. "Sis Jia..."
Now tears rimd in her eyes too. "Don’t worry Bojing. I am sure Brother Mingshen will sohow figure out a way-"
"Who are you calling your brother?"
Mingshen arrived after finishing up his call. He arched his brow at her. "So you are back. Why?"
She was dumbfounded. "First of all, I have completed my graduation. Second of all, my boyfriend lives in Beijing. How could I not co back?"
"Did you not find anybody else in college?"
"A-are you seriously urging to cheat on Bojing?" She was speechless.
"Yes. It will be easier for him to break up with you if you have an ugly side."
"..."
"B-Boss..." he trembled.
"You are like an evil mother-in-law!" she cried.
"Thank you for the complint," he sneered. "Now if your little reunion is over, can we get back to the topic?"
"You won’t even congratulate for getting a job?"
"That’s the least of my expectations from you to be allowed to have Bojing as your boyfriend."
"You are so an!"
Bojing quickly asked before her grievances increased any further. "Which c-company will you work at?"
"Quantum Gas!" She chirped.
Mingshen squinted his eyes. "Quantum Gas?"
"Yes, hoho!"
Bojing asked, "I-Is there a problem, Boss?"
"Quantum Gas is one of the clients for nano materials from one of the manufacturer factories," he tilted his head.
He then faintly rembered sothing and hit Huojin’s number.
"Yes?"
"Where did you say Zhang Luqi worked at?"
"Quantum Gas. Why do you ask?"
