On the charity function’s side, ng Rin finally found a chance to sneak away from Huo Tengqi’s side. She lethargically walked along the corridor as if sothing had sapped all energy out of her.
Her phone buzzed with a ssage and she saw that it was from her fellow actress, Chow y, who was accused of killing the director Wan Guanting.
’How is the function going? Enjoying yourself?’
Her lips stretched into a thin line. She wanted to smile but she couldn’t.
’Yeah, it’s cool. How are you doing?’ she typed back.
’...Are you sure? If you are bored, you can sneak out and we can hang out together.’
She smiled, understanding her concern.
’Thanks, but I am really enjoying myself here. The masquerade party is really interesting, haha.’
They chatted a bit more and Chow y let it go. A minute later, she received Bai Caishen’s text too, whose ssages showed similar concerns as Chow y.
ng Rin couldn’t help but softly chuckle.
Both are so sweet...
Her eyelashes trembled and she felt an urge to cry. She desperately wished to fly to their side and escape from this event. But she knew she couldn’t.
As Huo Tengqi’s fiance, she just couldn’t.
ng Rin thought to be alone for so ti in her quiet, dark room and recharge herself before returning to the event. She closed the door behind her and rested her back on it with a tired sigh. She stared at the void expressionlessly.
She exhaled softly and rummaged inside her purse. She found a bottle of pills that was prescribed to her by a doctor Bojing suggested when the crew had returned to Beijing. It was thanks to his dication that ng Rin was able to sleep properly these days.
She pressed her lips and put the bottle back in the purse. This wasn’t the ti to go to sleep even if she wanted to just close her eyes and lull herself to sleep.
Dragging her feet to the bed, ng Rin finally sat, getting the much needed relief to her legs. She freely fell back, wanting to rest. But she felt that her back landed on sothing that didn’t seem to be the bed’s fluffy mattress. She blinked twice.
Hm?
She looked beside her and to her horror, she instantly jerked upright. It took a few seconds for the situation to register in her mind.
In the darkness, a man was lying on her bed. She squinted her eyes to get a good look and realized that he was sleeping.
ng Rin was utterly confused.
Oh damn! Did I enter sobody else’s room by mistake? Shit!
She rushed out and checked the room number but to her shock, it was the sa room that Huo Tengqi had booked for her tonight’s function. It only left her more perplexed.
She rushed back in and switched on the bedside lamp, but it didn’t work. She tried a couple of tis and then the other lights too, but none of them lit up either.
Huh? The lights were working when I was getting ready before the event. What happened now?
ng Rin paced back and forth for a minute and decided that she had no choice but to wake him up. She leaned on the bed with her hand and as she cleared her throat, she gently shook his arm.
"Um...Excuse ?"
The man didn’t move.
"Excuse ?" She said a little loudly this ti.
There was still no response.
"Um, can you please wake up? You accidentally ca into the wrong room..." she said, shaking his arm again.
But the man didn’t budge even once.
Is he even alive? She was dumbfounded.
ng Rin bent and heard the light sounds of his breathing.
Phew.
She shook him harder while also feeling guilty of disturbing his sleep, but she had to make him know about his mistake.
"Um...! Pl-please wake up."
It didn’t seem like he held any intentions to wake up until the next morning. ng Rin lacked tears to shed.
Then ca a knock.
"Rinrin?"
She froze hard. Huo Tengqi’s voice instantly brought goosebumps on her skin.
"Rinrin, are you here?"
Her heart pounded fast. She stared at the sleeping man on the bed with a pale expression.
If Huo Tengqi cos in and sees a strange man on my bed, then...
Another shudder escaped from her back. He was all smiles on the outside but only she knew of his real possessiveness.
No, no, no! W-what should I do now!? Huo Tengqi is here!
He-he will never understand the situation! He will never believe that this isn’t my fault! He will think I am cheating on him!
"Rinrin?"
She jolted. Her mind was a jumble, yet in that frenzied state, she was trying to find a solution.
Only if I could wake him up sohow and make him hide in the bathroom...!
But the man refused to even move, much less wake up from his baby sleep.
"Rinrin-"
"I...! J-Just give so ti...I am getting changed..."
"Change? What’s wrong?"
She wiped her forehead, almost gasping for breaths. "No-Nothing. I am just-"
His voice turned somber. "You don’t seem fine to . Your voice is shaking. Are you feeling sick?"
"I-I am fine!"
"No, you are not. I know how you sound when you are healthy. I am coming in."
Her heart sank.
Before she could stop, Huo Tengqi had already turned the door knob. It was too late and he was already in.
ng Rin wanted to faint at that point.
"Why is it so dark in here?" He turned on the switch buttons but to no avail.
"I will talk to the managent about this," he muttered to himself and rushed towards her, looking at her from head to toe, concerned and worried.
"Rinrin?" He checked her forehead. "I was right. You are sweating. Why didn’t you tell ?" He shook his head.
"Th-that..."
Huo Tengqi’s gaze shifted at the bed and he faintly made out a figure of sobody lying on the bed. A mont later as his eyes focused more, the outline definitely seed to be that of a man’s.
A glint of an indecipherable emotion passed by his eyes.
"...And who is this gentleman?"
