Mulan smiled. "Being indebted can be one of the ways. And not a bad one I think."

She handed out a file to Jia, which she slowly took from her. She read through it and couldn’t help but be amazed. "You sorted out Bai Yingtai’s bail?"

She shrugged up her shoulders.

"But how? With the attack against Hou Tengqi and harassnt charges ng Rin-"

"There was never any harassnt. She herself said so last night that it was a misunderstanding but Fei Nanyou was too agitated to believe her. Plus, I had seen the sleepy guy enter ng Rin’s room last night. I was on my way back from a call when I saw a giant man stepping in so room. I thought it was his own room. I barely saw that he collapsed on the bed as soon as he entered."

"That’s my employee all right," Mingshen shrugged.

"So he clearly didn’t go there with so hidden agenda. I think he confused her room with his."

Mingshen disagreed with that ntally. Bai Yingtai himself confessed that he went to the event specifically to et ng Rin. If that intention was exposed, then the ga was over. Nobody would be able to save him. It wouldn’t matter that entering ng Rin’s room was a simple coincidence.

Bai Yingtai would be labeled as a culprit. Period.

Jia said, "But what about the violence against Hou Tengqi?"

"Of course Bai Yingtai is barred from approaching Hou Tengqi but there are a lot of variables here, you know? And Miss. ng helped with that a lot."

Mingshen blinked. "How?"

"She tried to explain that it was a misunderstanding. Now would a woman really defend her own assaulter? Who would be that crazy?"

"That other friend was very passionately suggesting a threat," he rolled his eyes.

Mingshen raised his brow. "And you know how much backlash you would have to face once the Hou family knows this? The mother was quite adamant about my employee’s dark future. You will beco her enemy."

"I will disappoint Uncle Cheng very much if he feels that I am a scaredy cat which I am not~"

Jia stared at the bail papers and released a sigh. "This is going to cause a big uproar."

Mingshen smiled. "Life is more fun when there is drama and yelling. So can I get my employee back?"

Mulan frowned. "Shouldn’t you be thanking and also offering to take out on a date as your gratitude?"

"I appreciate the help but I didn’t ask for it and besides, you had your own motives. It isn’t out of goodwill. So you don’t score a date with Yang Mingshen."

"Well, marriage between our families is only beneficial and I always grab the things that benefit ," she winked. "I will be waiting for your date invitation. Bye~"

She turned and zood away from everybody’s view. Jia was left in awe. "I think you finally found your wife."

"I already had ages ago. Isn’t she standing right in front of in that sexy cop uniform~"

Jia gritted her teeth. "Xiyang."

"Y-Yes Mam!" Xiyang hastily stood straight in attention.

"Take these papers and close the formalities with Bai Yingtai’s release."

"Yes, Mam!"

Jia didn’t stay any longer to entertain Mingshen’s whims and left the bureau. Jia’s avoidance to talk about her depression was evident. Mingshen tapped his finger on the desk, staring at her leave.

A call that rang on his phone broke his daze. "Yes?"

It was Shilin on the other side who didn’t have a good news to give.

"Boss, Senior Lu and I searched all the nearby hospitals to that hotel but there didn’t co a single patient with an injury to his ankle like you gave to him."

"He cannot let it go untreated. It’s not an injury that will be fixed with an in-house doctor call. He must have had to go to a hospital."

"We checked it thrice. No such patient was admitted to any hospital."
