Soft mists of air escaped through Jia’s lips as her feet tapped against the ground, marching her jogging speed with Mingshen’s. Mingshen increased the pace and length of his strides and Jia started to fall behind. But she didn’t let him.

"I think you are treating this as a race," she scowled.

"And you are losing," he winked.

She narrowed her eyes. "Do not challenge , Yang Mingshen."

He sexily raises his brow. He then looked at a distance and said, "Let’s see who reaches that swing first."

They stopped and Jia huffed a bit breathlessly.

"Aish, you are already lacking oxygen~ Do you really want to humiliate yourself with this teensy race?"

She sneered. "Seems like sobody is afraid of his own proposition now."

They stopped, ready to start their race. Mingshen tilted his head. "What will the winner get?"

"If I win, which I will for sure - you will take your words back about my..." she pressed her lips, unwilling to ntion it.

"You are free to demand a passionate kiss from your super sexy handso husband and this is what you ask?" he gasped.

"I will let that kiss be reserved for Miss. Xie," she smiled.

He frowned. "I won’t marry her."

"You should. She is a keeper."

He pouted like a child. "But I want you~"

"Do you agree or not?"

"Nope. Depression is your diagnosis. It cannot be betted."

She glared at him.

He bead. "But I know what I will ask! The permanent ticket to reside in my lab with . Two lovebirds living under the sa roof~"

She smiled in disdain. "Is it still night ti in your head? Because only dreams can get this ridiculous."

He shrugged. "A deal’s a deal. We will run three laps and see who reaches the swing first~"

She furrowed her brows. "What’s the point of three laps? One or three or ten, you are going down."

He smiled. "We will see about that."

They got in their positions and on the count of three, both leapt to speed. Mingshen’s large strides naturally put him at an early advantage but Jia wasn’t the one to give up. She was nimble enough to quickly match upto his pace and soon, they were neck to neck.

The park was spread across quite a wide circular area and for a normal person, even one lap would be deathly tireso. But Mingshen and Jia’s bodies were honed to fitness with their regular exercise.

Or at least that was what Jia thought.

The first lap went without a hitch. From the middle of the second lap, Jia began to feel her chest slightly swell. Her brows slightly crinkled, but she ignored it. She increased her pace and easily entered the third and final lap with Mingshen.

"Not bad~" Mingshen smiled playfully.

She scoffed. "Underestimating would always bite you."

"Oh trust . I don’t dare to underestimate my Spicy~ But right now, you aren’t at your best."

And with that, Mingshen unleashed his max speed and in a matter of seconds, he was already leaps ahead of her. Jia pressed her shoes hard and fast against the ground but at halfway point of the final lap, her chest began to puff even more tiredly. She inhaled and exhaled shallow breaths. She ran and ran but the outco was clear.

Forty-five seconds later, Mingshen successfully reached the swing first and won the race. Jia followed behind, huffing and puffing, with beads of sweat playing their own race down the side of her cheeks. She breathed hard and felt as if she severely lacked oxygen. She felt lightheaded for a mont but it didn’t last for long.

But her contemplation did.

Why am I feeling so tired already...?

And why was my body feeling so heavy?

Jia had done way more rigorous exercises than simple laps around the park but at most, she felt slightly out of breath after those regins. But right now, Jia was panting hard as if she was made to run non stop for days.

She supported her weight by holding her knees and a sense of frustration trickled in. Drops of sweat plopped on the ground and she remained in a daze, staring at it.

Suddenly, an ice cold sensation spread across her forehead and she jolted back. It was Mingshen, pressing a chilled bottle of water against her forehead. He slightly glistened in sweat and with only marginally out of breath, he exuded his devilish charm that was too tempting to ignore.

The female morning runners could barely keep their senses alive with such a beautiful specin greeting their sight early morning.

"I won," he chuckled. "And you need so hydration."

She wasn’t sure if the tiredness mixed in with her frustration or the latter poured into the forr, but she definitely wasn’t in a good mood.

"Don’t need it."

"Your ego might not, but your body does. Drink."

The first sentence was playful. The last word was a stern command.

She grudgingly grabbed the bottle and swallowed down a few gulps, feeling relief wash down her parched throat. Jia felt ashad of losing the race but she wasn’t soone to back out of a bet.

"Ask sothing sensible and not to be your lab rat!"

Mingshen raised his brow. "You lost."

Her brow twitched. "I am not blind."

"You would have been a tough competitor before."

"Just one race doesn’t prove anything."

He ignored that. "When was the last ti you actually exercised?"

She had almost finished her water bottle and her breaths were beginning to stabilize. "I always exercise."

"I want a specific day."

"Are you trying to prove a point again that actually doesn’t exist?"

Though she retorted that, her mind was racing to figure out when she had exactly exercised last.

"Practical experiences teach you more than theory," he smiled.

Two weeks ago?

No, I definitely went for a run on the day Ehuang was brought into his lab, right?

"So when?"

When was that day? No wait, I don’t think it was that day. Was it further back?

"It’s just work that keeps busy. It’s not a big deal."

Inside, Jia was panicking.

Shit, when was the last ti I got out of the house for a morning jog?

"You are panicking," Mingshen stated with a knowing smile. "You haven’t been exercising at all, have you? I am your doctor. You cannot hide anything from . I could tell you were feeling heavy."

Her expression darkened. "Are you implying that I am turning fat? I am in perfect shape!"

"Only if cheese was so gracious enough to not date the weight, this world would have been so peaceful," he sighed.

"You...! You only called out to make a fool out of myself!"

"I had decided to race you ever since I saw you try on the sexy red dress in the mall."

"Huh?" She was dumbfounded. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"You looked uncomfortable wearing it and not because you felt it was too bold but because you thought you didn’t fit in it weight wise. And it made wonder...

Huh...since when did Spicy start to worry about her weight?"
