Jia had her palms and face glued to the helicopter’s window as she watched the outside view in awe. As the helicopter soared over the shimring city below, Jia gazed out of the window, srized by the breathtaking view.
The evening sky was painted in hues of burnt orange and soft lavender. The bright yellow sun now seed to lt one with the sky. The buildings, now specks of light, sparkled like stars beneath them. The rhythmic hum of the helicopter’s blades filled the air but all Jia could feel was a serene calmness as the world seed so distant from their altitude.
She had passed and navigated through many of these routes in her daily life but those sa paths now seed to converge themselves into one big scenic beauty. The trees looked like a huge green stretch akin to a forest. A strange feeling encapsulated her chest. People below road the streets where their everyday lives took them but here she was watching them from miles away.
Mingshen was seated beside her, his posture relaxed yet commanding. He glanced her way with an unreadable expression, the soft setting light catching the sharpness of his jawline. He caught the slight trembling of her hand against the window as she stared down.
"No jumping down allowed."
Jia looked back, speechless. "You just have to ruin the perfect mont, don’t you?"
"What were you thinking about?"
"That it’s very beautiful up here but then I got reminded that without you, it would have been much more peaceful."
"It would have been boring," he pouted.
"Boring is fun."
"You have a very bad taste of entertainnt."
"It’s my birthday. Let have a bad taste. I am entitled to it. At least for today..." she mumbled the last part to herself.
He smiled. "You sell yourself too short, Spicy. Everyday should be a fun day. Why are you limiting yourself to be happy on only certain days? Be a little more selfish. Be like ~"
She couldn’t help but throw a judgental stare at him. "...Thanks for the offer but no thanks. I am fine the way I am."
"You are not," he whispered in his lips, which she didn’t hear.
Jia then asked, "I have a serious question though. I sincerely appreciate you doing so much for my birthday today, but...why?"
Mingshen frowned. "What kind of a question is that?"
"A very valid question."
"Aren’t we super close partners?" He asked, dissatisfied with Jia’s line of questioning.
She wanted to twitch her brow.
"We are work partners for sure, but I doubt the super close part. I don’t even want to imagine your credit bill for today but don’t people do so much for a really very special soone?" She slightly tipped her head to the side.
"Who said my Spicy is not special to ?" He looked hurt. "Spicy, I keep confessing my feelings for you, but you don’t even listen to them! Otherwise, why would you ask such a cruel question?"
"..."
The sun set further, casting an even darker grey shade in the sky.
"I an, isn’t sothing like this reserved for your future wife? For example...Miss. Xie Mulan? She is quite passionate about becoming your wife."
He sneered. "I am only passionate about getting the answers of her ga company out of her. She is not my type anyway."
"...You have a type in won?" she looked aghast.
"I don’t have a ’type’ in won. There is only one woman I am interested in who is you."
"I ant romantically."
"Which part of today’s kiss did you not get, Spicy?"
She imdiately glared at him. "Don’t remind of that!"
He smirked.
She drew out a long sigh. "I am serious. I an the type of a woman who you would want to marry-"
"You."
"...Make love-"
"You."
"Have children with-"
"You."
"..."
Jia couldn’t understand what kind of an expression to make. In a normal situation, this was as good as a confession, but she just couldn’t take Mingshen seriously.
"So you have dropped the whole organ donor fiasco with ?" She suspiciously asked.
He paused at that.
"Aha! You finally show your true colors!" She flared her nostrils.
"Well, your heart is indeed very rare and valuable but I feel it would be better if it beat in your chest rather than that woman’s. There is only one Spicy. I don’t want to see Spicy’s traits in anybody else," he frowned heavily.
"..."
What kind of reasoning is that?
She shook her head and resud watching the beautiful scenery.
Mingshen blinked at her. "Why do you not believe when I say I don’t mind being physical with you?"
Her eyes slightly widened. "You are really asking that question?"
"Why not?"
She wanted to believe that Mingshen was pulling her leg but his serious expression made her think otherwise.
"...Do you love ?"
"Love?"
"Like Wei loves Lihua."
"No."
"There you go."
He frowned. "I don’t understand. What does love have anything to do with my desires?"
"..."
"I an...you have feelings like wanting to kiss or make love towards the person you like, right?"
"I like you."
"I believe the ’like’ you are referring to leans more towards fascination towards your definition of strange creatures and an unhealthy desire to ss with ."
"True."
"So you don’t love romantically."
"Also true."
"So you understand now."
"No, I don’t."
"..."
Her patience was thinning.
"So you want to say that you want to do all those things with but you know you don’t love ."
"Yes."
"You do realize that is the definition of a playboy, right?"
"I am not a playboy."
She breathed hard. "I want to jump out."
"Not allowed."
"Then leave alone! This conversation is over," She glared and turned his back on him.
Mingshen frowned again.
Why does Spicy not understand the simple equation? Is she slowly losing her intelligence? He thought to himself.
He then shrugged.
We are heading to the Zhao villa anyway. I will make sure to ask little chilli about this. She has limited brain cells but she should understand her sister’s language better and translate it for .
Hopefully.
