The three of them stood at the edge of Huayuan, the infamous red-light district shrouded in mystery and secrets. The night air buzzed with muted whispers as everybody’s attention imdiately fell on the trio. Narrowed gazes watched them acutely as if they just stepped into a series of landmines.
Mingshen pouted. "I was expecting so passionate looks from the won here."
"Yeah they sure are giving you passionate looks. They are just murderous instead of romantic," Jia smiled.
The entryway was marked by a tall, crimson archway adorned with intricate gold carvings of varied flowers. Red paper lanterns swayed gently above, casting a warm glow on the path. The faint scent of incense mixed with the aroma of sizzling food wafting from nearby stalls.
Beside them, Bojing appeared uneasy, his hand nervously clutching the strap of his small bag. From one of the higher floors of a tall building, he saw a group of won giggling and waving their hands at him with shy yet mildly seductive gazes.
I-I have a girlfriend, s-so I cannot...! I am sorry!
Bojing looked up at them once tearily and bowed until his back nearly arched till its limits, giving his sincerest apology.
The won wearing beautiful and free flowing Hanfu dresses above blinked at that gesture, confused and puzzled.
"Why is that beauty bowing?"
"Why is that beauty crying?"
Bojing straightened up only to find another woman approaching him with a raised brow.
"Oh my, what do we have here tonight?"
So young won accompanied her, stupefied at Bojing’s flawless beauty.
"Are you really a man?"
"How are you more beautiful than a woman?" A young woman wearing a floral qipao gasped in wonder.
"You even have the perfect body."
A bolder woman giggled and hung her arm around his with a coy look. "Who are you looking for, beautiful mister? If it’s not a particular soone, then why not co with ? I will take you to so amazing place~"
She leaned and whispered in his ears. "Where it will be only just the two of us..."
A shiver ran across Bojing’s back and his lips parted and shut. His brain was close to short-circuiting, who had no clue on how to escape from the flirtatious won surrounding him.
"I...I..." his voice could only escape as a ek whisper as tears continued to fill his eyes.
Jia looked at Mingshen. "Aren’t you going to help him?"
"What am I his guardian or sothing?"
Jia made a face and gave up on him. She approached the won with a polite smile. "Can I get him back?"
"S-Sis!" Bojing exclaid, his eyes screaming at her with hope.
The attitudes of the won imdiately took a one-eighty degree turn with their countenance clearly expressing their scorn. The hostility was obvious.
I think I should have avoided coming here in a cop uniform, Jia pressed her lips.
The woman who led the group to Bojing sneered at Jia. "Finders keepers."
Bojing was close to shedding a waterfall.
Her brow slightly twitched. "...Bojing is not an object to keep to yourself."
"Do you tell that to the n outside there about us too?"
"I stand by my principles whether inside or outside Huayuan. Nobody should be treated as an object."
She smiled. "And the irony is that we make money out of it."
Jia said nothing.
The woman eventually let go of Bojing but not without giving him a wink and slipping a small piece of paper in his hand.
"I am ready whenever you are~"
At this point, Bojing almost fell on his knees with their bold moves. Being a shy person by nature and an extrely loyal boyfriend, his heart sped like a train as if he was committing a grave sin.
He covered his tear-stricken face. "Will I be g-going to hell?"
Jia ruffled his hair. "You belong to the fluffy heaven silly."
"Will Zexi be mad?"
She rolled her eyes. "It’s fine, Bojing. You are panicking as if you cheated on her. Just take it as so harmless flirting."
She turned and witnessed a second instance of ’harmless flirting’ buzzing around Mingshen’s space. He had complained about the lack of attention from the beauties in all directions but he surely wasn’t lacking any of it now.
He was now the centre of attention of another group of won flocking around him with a mix of curiosity and awe in their gazes. Two won even stepped closer on his either side and slightly brushed their arms against his.
"Who are you? Never seen you here before~"
"Yeah you have an unforgettable face and..." one woman eyed him from head to toe with a sultry gaze, "definitely an unforgettable body."
Mingshen smiled. "As expected of your intelligence, you have a good eye. In fact, all of you here. I humbly accept the complint~"
She winked. "I can humbly accept your ’request’ too, you know?"
He bent closer to her with his black eyes staring straight at her. "Ah, that is a tempting offer indeed. I am sure every di of my ti will be worth spending it with you."
The woman boldly matched his pace and distance as she whispered, "Then what are you waiting for?"
"Waiting to explore my bodily functions with the woman accompanying ," he chuckled.
Every woman in the group simultaneously craned their necks towards Jia. Jia blinked twice with the sudden attention on her, nevertheless she smiled at them.
The woman flirting with Mingshen looked back at him with a frown. "Cops bring bad luck."
He smiled. "When has good luck been abundant anyways? Good luck is an illusion."
She arched her brow. "Why do I find truth in those words? I thought I got super lucky seeing you tonight. My body and wallet - both would have gotten satisfied."
"Alas, I cannot fulfill your first wish but definitely the latter if you don’t mind."
She snorted. "I am expensive."
"Which part of says that I cannot afford it?" Mingshen raised his brow.
"How much can you give ?"
"How far can you imagine?"
"Without anything happening between us?"
"That doesn’t matter," he shrugged.
"Oh my, such a big heart," her eyes glinted with an increasing curiosity.
Mingshen smiled knowingly. "You are wrong over that one. The devil never has a heart."
