A somber silence ensued. Jia rembered the day when Mingshen had confronted Ehuang’s parents to locate She’s next gathering location. At one point, Mingshen had lost his cool when they had crudely questioned as to who would ever want a daughter in their life?
The blaze in his eyes was unmistakable back then.
Frankly, Jia was shocked. Mingshen had t quite a lot of unsavory people in his life who held an abomination of thoughts and beliefs. She hadn’t expected him to react so strongly because he inherently took people to be that foolish and stupid. But that day he did react. That was the most insulting question anybody could have asked to a family who was struck with a tragedy like this. A mother who had carried her daughter for nine months, a father who had held his dead daughter in his hands and a brother who lost his sister he would bickered with all day long...
That was as humiliating as it could get.
Behind that chirpy and sunny aura and lips that always held a wicked grin, Jia never imagined that he was also holding onto sothing as painful as this.
It also occurred to her why Mingshen was always so uncomfortable around Zhuo Syaoran. He was a victim in his own sense that fateful day, yet when faced with the loss of your sister who could have been alive only if Yang Cheng would have gotten at the hospital in ti - it was natural that Mingshen wouldn’t really be thrilled by the company of such a man even if he understood his situation.
She glanced at him.
Mingshen might not hate Zhuo Syaoran being a doctor himself. He understood Yang Cheng’s predicant all too well.
But as a brother...
Zhuo Syaoran would always remind him that he lost his sister because of him. Yes, it would be unfair to bla him but it was never easy to placate the heart with rationality.
Jia didn’t know what to say. Condolences would only fall flat before the small tombstone before them.

After the very characterful na options decided by his parents, Jia truly hadn’t hoped the na would be Mingshen’s choice. On the contrary, she assud him to have a very bizarre choice.
"You thought I would have a very bizarre choice, didn’t you?"
Jia looked away. "Considering your reputation, I expected an even more...colorful na from you."
He shrugged. "Not like I put too much thought into it. I am super handso. Genes dictated that my sister would grow up to be very beautiful too. Eu-h ans exactly that - very beautiful. And she would have hated us a little lesser for having a normal na."
Jia silently let out a breath of relief.
"Hold on," she looked at him in horror. "Who had thought of your na then? Mingshen is...a normal na."
I am sorry Uncle, Aunt.

"Apparently, she insisted on naming . She begged Mom to let her na . Mom didn’t understand why but she was happy to. She loves her a little too much, so much that Uncle Weizhe is very displeased at tis."
Suddenly, Jia didn’t wish to know what nas the couple had thought for Mingshen.

She placed her hand on his, pressing her fingers against his with a firm squeeze. She knew she couldn’t say or do anything to ease that loss but she could stay with him, offering her silent support. She felt his fingers faintly move and with that, the light in his gaze flickered.
"Mom and Dad still cannot muster their courage to visit her grave. They want to but they cannot. They know they will completely break down. I couldn’t leave her alone. Better to please her than let her haunt ."
Despite his attempt at humor, Jia didn’t fail to notice the tremble in his voice. She saw him clenching his jaw as if holding back from letting go of sothing. He eventually turned his head away and the last thing she saw was the trace of a tear sliding down his cheek.
