The bleak atmosphere felt like a death had occurred. Xie Zi Han could only stare at the recording, trying to grasp the figure of the woman, who was his daughter and who, for so reason, had been saying so very vile things in the video.
Needless to say, a furious Mulan stepped forward in an attempt to crash the laptop and hit Beiye in her face. But an arm extended between her and Beiye and then a mont later, Huojin’s cold gaze landed at her.
"I advise you to stay where you are, Miss. Xie. Or do you want to add physical violence on top of all the cris you have committed?"
"You shouldn’t be confronting but this shaless woman instead, who is tarnishing my reputation! I will sue her for defamation!"
Beiye’s icy eyes narrowed. "There will be no case of defamation, my dear Boss. Truth doesn’t count as defamation."
"This is all a lie. How dare you join hands with Shi Ningkai and betray right to my face! I trusted your abilities and gave you a job and this is what you do?"
"My brother trusted you too," she took a cold step forward and if Huojin wasn’t standing in between them, then Beiye would have reached for her neck.
"But he just turned out to be your guinea pig for so brain experintation and now he is lying in a coma."
Her gaze darkened. "I just make gas, Beiye. I didn’t tell your brother to get addicted to it. Addiction to anything is bound to make you sick. You can’t just hold a business responsible for that."
She sneered. "Oh really? If I expose your codes and all the test scripts - thanks to Zexi’s job well done, you won’t be able to show your face anymore, Miss. Xie. The so-called addiction you are blaming on my brother are all your calculated moves. In the na of ’imrsion experience’, you were setting up nothing but a glorified mind trap."
"That’s bullshit."
Since it was useless talking to her, Mulan turned toward Jia. "Inspector Song, is this really how it will go? Won’t you step in and do sothing against all these false accusations?"
Jia walked toward her, staring her straight in the eye. "Of course, I will do sothing, Miss. Xie."
She sighed in relief.
"Which is bringing light to the fact how you tried to kill your own employee, Zhang Luqi."
Mulan stared back at her.
"Rember Zhang Luqi? Who was one of the core mbers of your Survival Gas developnt team but who was kicked out of it. And why was she kicked out? Because she figured that sothing was really ssed up with the ga. She had done her research and figured out how your code through the ga could affect a person’s cognitive abilities. She had done her howork but you didn’t like that. Which is why..."
Jia closed the distance with a deadpan gaze. "You didn’t stop at just sacking her out of your team. You went a step ahead to kill her."
Mulan said nothing for a long ti. Then she slowly parted her lips.
"I see. You wouldn’t stop Beiye because you have also joined hands with her."
"This joining of hands only happened to expose all the culprits tonight, Miss. Xie. Whether it’s Hou Tengqi and his family, the Zhuo family, Commissioner Zhong, Dr. Shi Ningkai or..you. Which is why the car crash happened near her husband’s office right when she was about to reach him. And that’s why Zhang Luqi is in a coma right now. Not the sa result as a death but a coma is also awfully convenient, isn’t it?

Mulan’s hard stare from Jia never left.
"It’s thanks to Li Beiye, Tang Zexi and her husband, Zhang Feiyu who helped with the investigation. You thought that with Zhang Luqi in coma, her laptop was virtually useless. Zhang Feiyu knew nothing much about her job anyway. It would only lie in the dust. But I guess you underestimated the emotions of a grieving husband.
If we bring Zhang Luqi’s notes and files with Li Beiye’s evidence to light, you, the CEO of Quantum Gas, wouldn’t be able to turn the other way around anymore, Miss. Xie. You wouldn’t be able to deny the fact that a dangerous ga was being built right under your leadership. Which is a sha really."
Jia wryly smiled. "As a young CEO, you beca a role model for the youth and won. People looked upto to you and got inspired by you. Tang Zexi was one of them. Imagine her disappointnt."
Mulan smiled. "I see what’s going on here, Inspector Song. You aren’t trying to be a good cop or sothing and want to expose by being righteous. You felt I was a threat to you."
"Excuse ? You are a threat but to society at large. If businessn and businesswon like you were allowed to exist, then the world is dood."
"The whole world? Or your world?"
Jia raised a brow. "You don’t even remotely affect my world, Miss. Xie."
"I do, because I wanted to marry Mingshen. But clearly..." her eyes narrowed. "You have more than just a cordial relationship with him and so you want out of his life. You don’t want anyone else to threaten your future position in the Yang family."
