"You know Anhe has a very love-hate type of a relationship with beauty," Li Beiye said, opening another packet of chips. "She likes to be beautiful of course. But she doesn’t like other people being beautiful."
"So she gets jealous?" Huojin asked.
She took a pause. "Is it now? I wonder."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because everybody in her group is pretty. Jinping is a slight deviation. I am not saying he is ugly but certainly not up to Anhe’s standards. Daxia has an innocent type of beauty. You know, like the girl next door. Aang and Yibo are handso and charming. Shilin, of course, is way beyond in looks and personality than the two. It is obvious why she brought him in."
"And Yong?"
"She is not a part of their group."
"But she went with Anhe and the gang to the amusent park."
"I admit it is quite puzzling to , especially after the row Yong had with the principal a few months back."
His ears perked up. "What row?"
One of the guys, Qigang, shrugged his shoulders. "Nobody knows. But Principal Geng was very furious at Yong. There was a heated confrontation between them behind closed doors."
Huojin smiled. "There must be so rumors."
Mingyu smiled back. "A little bit here and there. The guess is Yong went to complain sothing against Anhe. It turned ugly and Principal Geng suspended her for a month."
Huojin slightly cocked his brow.
Interesting.
"There are no guesses at all as to what the complaint was about?"
Beiye chuckled. "I highly believe Anhe bullied her in so sort of a way. I told you, right? Anhe doesn’t like beautiful people. Or should I say...not all types of beautiful people, especially won. And oh my Yong is very pretty. It’s hard to not look at her. She doesn’t like her type."
"There are types?"
"You don’t look at won at all, do you?"
"Sadly, work keeps busy."
"Shall I help you with the start?"
"Sadly, work is keeping busy at this mont too."
The guys giggled at her continuous failed attempts. Beiye was hardly fazed by it.
She continued. "So like I said, Anhe is very particular about beauty. She wants to make beautiful people her own like she does to Daxia, Aang, Yibo and Shilin. But if they don’t conform to her rules, she can break them too. Like how she recorded her sex acts with Aang."
Huojin looked at her carefully. "How do you know this? I believe this fact would be private between Aang and Anhe."
Beihe’s eyes lit up with mischief. "I have my ways. They are limited though."
Huojin gave up on that and asked instead, "Okay so you ntioned that Anhe has experience in framing people. She has videos of Aang and she could be possibly framing Jinping too to kick him out of her gang."
"Yup."
"And the reason for this confidence being?"
She smiled. ". I belonged to Anhe and her gang before I was similarly kicked out."
Huojin raised his brow. "Please explain more."
Beiye leaned her palms back on the grass and laughed. "It’s not a fancy story really. We t last year. She extended the hand for friendship first. I was cool with it. Last minute assignnts, karaoke, ice cream treats, late night parties. It was fun."
"Until?"
"Every year, we have a modeling contest in our fest. She wanted to participate. I had no interest. I just wanted to lay back and enjoy myself. One day, we were talking on the stairs and she fell - or according to her, I pushed her. She sprained her ankle, which made it impossible for her to ramp walk.
I was called into the principal’s office. Obviously, the father was extrely angry at for hurting his precious daughter so ’violently.’ Anhe was doing a fine job crying in the background. I got suspended. My side of the story wasn’t even heard."
"Why would she say that you pushed her?"
The third guy Bai said, "Even though Beiye wasn’t participating, there were still rumors floating around that she might change her mind about the contest. There were more rumors flying around that Anhe had no chance against her if she did join."
Huojin wore a look of befuddlent. "How did that work for Anhe? She got injured so eventually, she was forced to back off from the contest. Did she not want to win?"
Beiye let out a sardonic laugh. "You don’t understand Anhe at all. I wondered the sa. Everything was going just perfectly. We never had any spats, not even during the fest ti or whenever we talked about the contest. No jealousy or insecurity. But suddenly, I beca the bad woman. I was mocked and loathed for hurting her. I was shunned. I was a backstabber and the worst friend. People are so stupid for believing in her."
She seed genuinely perplexed. "Do I really look like I need to resort to such cheap tricks? Frankly speaking and without any grudge against Anhe, she doesn’t hold a candle to . And I am not being narcissistic. Just et Anhe and you will know. I don’t need to push her. It’s the opposite."
Qigang whistled.
Huojin choked. The confidence shone right through her voice.
"Did you confront her?"
"Yes," she released a bored sigh, "Even between us two, she kept insisting that I pushed her. Maybe she was afraid that I was recording the conversation. She never gave herself away. But along the course of this past year observing her interacting with people, I feel I understand her thinking.
It was never about the silly competition or any jealousy against . I believe she had plotted this all along right from the first day we t. She wanted to be my friend precisely to ruin . It was just simple suppression of a girl who she knew was very pretty."
"That’s...a strange reason. Being pretty is not a cri."
"For her it is. She makes it feel that way. Yong is also very similar to . When I heard about her dispute with Principal Geng, I knew Anhe definitely did sothing in the background. It was then I beca sure of it. She cannot stand Yong or my type of beauty. But even if Daxia is cute in her own way, Anhe doesn’t have a problem with her. So it’s sothing very specific."
Beiye smiled. "So you see. She expertly brought down, worked against Yong too, recorded her acts with Aang and used Jinping for her own needs. Now she wants him out so tell after listening to everything. Is it so difficult for Anhe to falsely accuse him? She might even drag in Yong too, you never know. You cannot trust her words at face value."
Huojin studied her intently. "You never felt like taking revenge?"
"Of course, I did. I am not a pushover. She has ssed with a very wrong person. The way she recorded and frad , I would do the sa."

"Which I would like it to get erased if possible but it’s okay. I have other ans for Anhe to delete it herself."

Wickedness shone in her beautiful black orbs. "I wouldn’t have easily shown this to anybody, but you are special. So I will give you a peek. It took a while to get this."
She unlocked her phone and after rapidly tapping so icons, slid it towards him. Huojin looked closely and asked, "What is this?"
