Now reading: Chapter 677: “Keep Me Company First.” from The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated, a Action novel by Ruqing Rusu.

As Shien Buztout and Shafney left, the events at the Succubus City gate spread throughout the city.

Countless tribes learned that a powerful human had entered Succubus City and even caught the Succubus’s attention, seemingly favored by her.

This news caused an uproar.

“The Succubus is actually interested in a human?”

“She even approached him personally?”

“Impossible!”

“A re human, what qualifies him to be favored by Her Highness?”

This was the thought of almost everyone.

As the most powerful tribes in the Succubus Territory, those gathered here were undoubtedly admirers of the Succubus. Living so close to her, most had seen her once or twice in their long lives, becoming captivated regardless of gender.

The Succubus was their highest deity, the object of their adoration, worship, and even fanatical love.

They didn’t expect to gain her favor, only hoping to catch a glimpse of her.

Many even collected her portraits or images to ease their longing.

The Succubus was the goddess, the dream lover, of countless people.

Now, being told that their beloved goddess was interested in a human caused an even greater sensation than when Shien beca Lucy’s fiancé.

Even the powerful figures of the major tribes lost their composure.

“What’s that human’s background?”

“To pique Her Highness’s interest, he must be extraordinary.”

“I want to see what kind of person he is.”

So started investigating Shien with this in mind.

“Could that human be…?”

“Most likely.”

“Besides such a being, what other human expert could attract Master Shafney’s attention?”

So had already guessed Shien’s identity and began to ponder.

So even started to act, seemingly planning sothing irrational.

This included those close to Shafney.

Thus, the commotion continued to spread, and many, with or without ulterior motives, took action.

anwhile, Shien, following Shafney, arrived at the Succubus Fortress.

This was the Succubus’s residence, or rather, her personal quarters.

This fortress, standing at the highest point in Succubus City, also served as the center of power for the Succubus Territory and Succubus City. Only the Succubus’s executives and their subordinates, who managed the territory and city, were allowed free access. Others needed special permission to enter.

The fortress gate even had two guards. These two guards were gigantic, at least ten ters tall, like two massive statues, wielding towering spears, their faces stern and resolute.

If one sensed carefully, they would discover that these two guards’ levels were astonishingly high.

They were both level ninety.

Yes.

Level ninety.

These two guards were Legendary-level experts.

“Master Shafney.”

“Master Shafney.”

When Shafney and Shien appeared, the two giant guards moved, kneeling before Shafney with a resounding thud.

That montum, that sound, showcased their extraordinary power.

“Holy moly…” Even Shien was stunned. He had never seen such large beings, let alone genuine Legendary-level experts.

Shafney ignored them and introduced them to Shien.

“They are the only two Legendary-level experts of the Rock Giant Clan, and also two of my eight executives. Impressive, right?”

Shafney said with a smile, as if showing off to Shien.

“Rock Giant Clan?” Shien looked at Shafney questioningly, then, caught off guard by her beautiful smiling face, his heart skipped a beat, and he quickly looked away.

“You haven’t heard of the Rock Giant Clan?” Shafney asked, chuckling, seemingly not noticing Shien’s reaction, “They are the rarest race in the Demon Realm, with only a few dozen mbers. However, they naturally reach level eighty upon adulthood. If it weren’t for their small numbers and long childhood, taking at least a thousand years to reach adulthood, they could definitely rival the Dragon Race.”

Such a powerful race, and their only two Legendary-level experts were executives under Shafney.

“You actually have such powerful executives guarding the gate?” Shien was speechless.

Unexpectedly, before Shafney could answer, the two Rock Giants spoke first.

“It’s our honor to guard the gate for Master Shafney!”

“Insignificant being, don’t you dare insult us!”

The Rock Giants roared, their voices shaking the heavens.

Shien’s ears rang, almost deafened by the sound.

“That’s what they said,” Shafney said, seemingly amused by Shien’s reaction, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

“You two oafs,” Shien said, rolling his eyes and picking his ears.

The Rock Giants were instantly enraged.

“Who are you?”

“You don’t seem to be a demon. How dare you approach Master Shafney so closely? You deserve to die!”

A terrifying aura erupted from the two Rock Giants. It felt like a heavy mountain descending, pressing down on Shien’s shoulders.

However, almost instantly, Shien’s shoulders returned to normal, his expression calm and composed.

“Eh?” The two Rock Giants were surprised. They hadn’t expected this seemingly small human to withstand their combined aura.

Ignoring their reaction, Shien looked at Shafney.

“You brought here just to have them intimidate ?” he asked, his gaze towards Shafney turning unfriendly.

“If I wanted to intimidate you, I would have done so myself, why bother going through such lengths?” Shafney seed to enjoy Shien’s hostility, nodding in satisfaction, her smile unwavering.

“That’s true…” Shien agreed, relaxing his brow.

The two Rock Giants, however, changed their expressions, their aura intensifying instead of receding.

The reason was simple.

(Master Shafney seems pleased…?)

(Does Her Highness like this human?)

As these thoughts crossed their minds, jealousy flashed in their rock-like eyes.

They couldn’t help but unleash their full aura, suppressing Shien.

Feeling the increasing pressure, Shien frowned again.

He looked at the two Rock Giants, a cold glint in his eyes.

“…!” The Rock Giants froze, as if targeted by a terrifying beast.

“You…”

“He…”

They looked at Shien with uncertainty and suspicion.

Under their gazes, Shien gradually suppressed his surging magic power.

“What are you trying to do?” he asked, his tone unfriendly, clearly directed at Shafney.

Shafney had been watching from the side, not intervening, simply observing with amusent.

This gloating attitude irritated Shien.

Shafney, however, looked innocent.

“I didn’t order them to do this,” she explained pitifully.

Unfortunately, Shien no longer fell for her act.

“…I told you not to play with just because you find it amusing, right?”

Shien took a deep breath, glanced at Shafney, then turned and walked away.

Seeing this, the feigned innocence and pitiful look on Shafney’s face disappeared.

“Wait,” she said, quickly grabbing Shien’s hand, “Alright, my bad. I couldn’t help but tease you, but I didn’t expect you to be so short-tempered, almost like Airi. No wonder you two get along.”

“Sorry, I have a bad temper,” Shien said, quickly withdrawing his hand as his heart raced.

The Succubus’s hand was incredibly smooth and soft, the sensation shocking, making Shien feel a tingling sensation, as if he had been electrocuted.

As expected of a Succubus, everything about her was incredibly seductive and alluring.

Shien was truly worried that if he stayed with such a poisonous woman, he would unconsciously fall for her.

(Could this be her goal?)

Shien looked at Shafney with vigilance.

His wary gaze made Shafney chuckle.

“See? I told you, you and my little Airi are a perfect match! Even your wary looks are the sa!”

Indeed.

Airi was always wary of Shafney, treating her like a tiger.

No wonder Shafney found it amusing.

But Shien’s score in her heart unconsciously increased by two points, becoming ninety-two.

This man was truly interesting, just like little Airi.

Thinking of this, a smile reappeared on Shafney’s face.

“Co on, let’s go have a chat at my place,” she said, extending her hand towards Shien again.

“What do you want?” Shien quickly dodged.

“Nothing,” Shafney blinked, “I just want to take you back and chat.”

“Chat? Then don’t get handsy!” Shien said, still wary, “Also, I don’t want to chat with you. I just want to contact Airi and have her co and get .”

Shien didn’t want to stay in this Succubus Territory for even a mont longer.

“Don’t worry, soone will co and get you,” Shafney said, as if not hearing his urgency, “Little Airi has already told her sisters, and now, all six Demon Lords are looking for you.”

“Really?” Shien perked up, “Then have they found those who ca with ?”

“Well, more or less,” Shafney smiled faintly, “Your little darling dragon happened to land in the Dragon Demon’s territory and was seen by little Airi’s subordinates. She should be on her way to pick her up now.”

“Little Airi’s executive, Giacinta, is also fine. Although he fell into the Ghost Demon’s territory, he’s not a fool. He’ll find his way back after eting up with those twin magical beings who always follow him.”

“And that little Evil God, she’s also fine, just landed in the Poison Demon’s territory. It’s said that she’s running around anxiously, attracting the attention of countless tribes, being surrounded multiple tis, yet annihilating all the demons blocking her path, causing quite a commotion. It seems Kamina is quite angry, and she’ll probably go and have a ‘chat’ with that little Evil God herself.”

Shafney’s casual words, although reassuring at first, made Shien worry again.

“Kamina, the Poison Demon?” Shien frowned, “She’ll attack Lilith?”

“Probably,” Shafney said nonchalantly, “Kamina’s temper is no better than yours or little Airi’s. That Evil God running amok in her territory, it would be strange if she wasn’t furious.”

Hearing this, Shien was silent for a mont, then his furrowed brow relaxed.

“What?” Shafney, wanting to tease him again, asked, “Aren’t you worried?”

“Worried about what?” Shien replied calmly, “I know Lilith’s strength better than anyone. One-on-one, unless it’s Sara, the Moon Demon, no one can easily harm her.”

“That’s because you don’t know how terrifying Kamina is,” Shafney said, trying to provoke him, “She’s the Poison Demon, her entire being is poison, capable of creating incredibly potent toxins that even Transcendent Level beings can’t ignore. Even a single drop can turn the land into a poisonous wasteland, instantly killing anyone who steps on it.”

This was the Poison Demon’s power, a terrifying ability feared by countless people.

However…

“I believe she can’t defeat Lilith,” Shien said firmly.

“So confident, huh?” Shafney looked at Shien, her eyes flickering, then she smiled, “Then let’s see if my sister is more powerful, or that little Evil God by your side.”

Saying that, with lightning speed, Shafney grabbed Shien’s hand.

“Now, co with and keep company first.”

Shafney pulled Shien into the Succubus Fortress with a joyful expression.

“Wait! Let go!” Shien shouted.

“This…” The ignored Rock Giant brothers were dumbfounded.

What was going on?

They were being ignored?

Who was that human? Why was he so close to Her Highness?

The Rock Giant brothers looked at each other, confused.

“Master Shafney!”

A stream of light zipped past, also ignoring the Rock Giants, and entered the Succubus Fortress.

The Rock Giants began to question their existence.

Were they not big enough?

How could they be ignored like this?

Succubus Fortress, Top Floor.

This was the highest point within the Succubus Fortress, the personal living space of a single person.

Besides a massive eting hall in the center, the rest of the floor was mostly dining halls, baths, and personal entertainnt facilities, resembling an incredibly luxurious residential area.

But only one person used these facilities.

That was the owner of this Succubus Fortress, the ruler of this Succubus Territory, the Succubus herself.

At this mont, Shafney, the Succubus, returned to this floor and entered her room.

Naturally, Shien was also brought along.

“Thud!”

With a soft thud, Shien fell onto an incredibly soft bed upon entering the room.

He wasn’t the one who did this, but soone who pushed him onto the bed without a word.

“You…” Shien’s face was filled with disbelief and uncertainty. Disbelief because she actually did this, and uncertainty because he couldn’t help but let his imagination run wild.

Slling the sweet fragrance of the soft bed, Shien had to admit his mind was filled with lewd thoughts.

“Hee hee.” Shafney, looking at Shien on her bed, a playful and mischievous smile on her face, approached him with obvious intent.

“W-What are you doing?” Shien couldn’t help but inch backwards, even hugging himself, his face filled with terror, like a damsel in distress.

Ignoring his fear, Shafney climbed onto the bed. That movent perfectly showcased her alluring figure. Even from Shien’s perspective, he could see her perky buttocks, her slender waist with its seductive curves, and her long, fair legs. Her every move was captivating.

Shien was certain that if anyone saw this witch in this pose, they would lose control and pounce on her.

Even Shien felt increasingly tempted, almost wanting to give in.

But he had a feeling that if he did, he might lose his life.

Even if he didn’t die, he would be completely captivated by her charm, forgetting all about Lucy, Diere, Airi, and lika.

This woman, even as an ordinary person, could conquer the world with her charm.

Shien was truly afraid of this poisonous Succubus, struggling internally.

Seeing him like this, Shafney’s smile widened.

“Stop resisting and just give in. Let see,” she said, making Shien almost spit out blood.

“What… what do you want to see?” Shien’s voice trembled.

“That thick and big thing on your waist, of course,” Shafney said matter-of-factly.

“Pfft!” This ti, Shien wasn’t just about to spit out blood, but his nosebleed was about to erupt.

“I’m not that kind of person!” Shien desperately tried to maintain his last shred of dignity.

Unexpectedly, Shafney looked at him with disdain.

“Whether you’re that kind of person or not has nothing to do with ,” she said, “Moreover, no matter who you are, once you’re here, you’re at my rcy.”

“You’re quite confident,” Shien said, laughing in exasperation, “Do you really think I won’t fight back?”

“You can try,” Shafney smiled, seemingly enjoying the challenge, “It wouldn’t be fun if you didn’t resist at all.”

“I…” Shien looked at Shafney as if she were a cougar in heat.

He hadn’t expected this Succubus to be like this.

Didn’t everyone outside say she was noble?

Weren’t they all infatuated with her, willing to give everything for her smile?

It was said that she even disdained kingdoms offered to her, and countless famous heroes were willing to betray their races to fight for her, yet she rejected them all rcilessly.

Was this the true face of such an alluring being?

Shien felt a surge of indignation.

He even wanted to remind her that he was her sister’s fiancé and that she was wronging Airi.

However, he suddenly rembered their previous conversation.

“I’m married!”

“I don’t mind.”

“I’m your sister’s fiancé!”

“I mind even less.”

Damn, this couldn’t be used as an excuse, and it might even excite her further!

Just as Shien felt both indignant and helpless, Shafney suddenly made a move, catching him off guard.

“Got it!” she exclaid joyfully.

“…!” Shien shuddered, his indignation turning into resignation.

He had been caught.

I’m sorry, Lucy.

I’m sorry, Airi.

I’m sorry, Diere.

I’m sorry, lika.

I… I’m about to…

To…

To…

…Huh?

Shien suddenly stopped trembling.

Because he didn’t feel anything being touched.

Instead, a tallic sound ca from his waist. It was the sound of his Holy Sword being drawn by a slender, white hand.

“Is this your Holy Sword?” Shafney asked, holding the sealed Holy Sword, her eyes filled with curiosity.

Shien’s lips twitched.

So she wanted to see the Holy Sword?

Why didn’t she just say so? Why did she have to do all those suggestive things?

“Fuck!” Shien cursed.

Shafney, however, didn’t care.

“Big sister and little Airi praised you so much. I want to see how capable you, the Hero, truly are.”

Saying that, Shafney ran her hand along the Holy Sword’s blade.

“Clang! Clang! Clang!” Three sealing rings fell to the ground.

Shafney, with her imnse power, had directly removed the seals on the Holy Sword.

“Clang—!”

In the next instant, a brilliant light, as bright as the sun, erupted from the Holy Sword, filling the entire room.

“Tsss…!” Shafney’s hand, holding the Holy Sword, was burned by the divine power, smoke rising from it.

“…!” Shafney’s expression changed, and she instinctively released the Holy Sword.

The Holy Sword fell, then suddenly stopped mid-air as if gaining a life of its own, spinning and flying into Shien’s hand.

The Holy Sword returned to its owner.

However, the divine light flowing on the blade was still dazzling, making Shafney’s eyes flicker.

Shien finally reacted.

“Are… are you an idiot?”

Shien looked at Shafney as if she were a child in need of care.

That look displeased Shafney.

“Who’s an idiot?” she asked, her face showing her displeasure.

“Well, aren’t you?” Shien pointed at Shafney, “If you’re not an idiot, why would you do such a reckless thing?”

Everyone knew that the Holy Sword was the nesis of the Demon Race, its power the most effective against them. Ordinary demons would die upon touching it, and even immortal demons would be slain by it.

Even the Demon King, if struck by the Holy Sword, would undoubtedly die.

Hero Mitra could kill the Demon King thanks to the assistance of the Supre God Omnis, allowing him to pierce the Demon King’s heart with the Holy Sword. Otherwise, he, a Hero on the sa level as Lildas, wouldn’t have been a match for the Demon King.

Under such circumstances, Shafney actually unsealed the Holy Sword and even touched it directly, despite being a Demon Lord. The consequences were obvious.

Yet, she did it, which, in Shien’s eyes, was a reckless act.

However…

“You’re the idiot,” Shafney said, clutching her burned hand, “Who knew you were such a monster?”

“Hey!” Shien protested, “Are you so embarrassed that you’re resorting to personal attacks now?”

“Do you think I’m just saying this casually?” Shafney was so angry that she laughed, “I’m not that bored.”

Saying this, Shafney glanced at the Holy Sword in Shien’s hand.

“Although the Hero’s Holy Sword is effective against the Demon Race, its true power is only unleashed when the Hero himself reaches Transcendent Level, our level. Before reaching Transcendence, its power is limited.”

Airi had also said this before. When the Hero reached Transcendence, the Holy Sword would also undergo a transformation, becoming a crystal of power on par with the Supre God and the Demon King. Such a Holy Sword was the true strongest divine weapon, capable of slaying even the Demon King, and the demons would be powerless to resist.

However, before the Hero himself reached Transcendence, the Holy Sword’s legendary power was only partially revealed.

“Such a Holy Sword is naturally the most feared weapon for ordinary demons, but for us Demon Lords, who have already transcended, it’s not much of a threat,” Shafney said with certainty.

“Back then, before Mitra transcended, his Holy Sword couldn’t effectively harm us Demon Lords either.”

Therefore, before Shien reached Transcendence, the Holy Sword shouldn’t be a threat to Demon Lords.

At least, that’s what Shafney thought, and others probably thought the sa.

But the reality was that even though Shien hadn’t transcended yet, his Holy Sword could still injure Shafney.

What did this an?

“It ans your Holy Sword possesses incredible power, even surpassing that of Mitra, capable of threatening even Transcendent Level beings before the Hero himself transcends.”

Shafney looked deeply at Shien.

“And the power of the Holy Sword represents the Hero’s potential and talent.”

The greater the Hero’s potential and talent, the stronger their Holy Sword.

Conversely, the weaker the Holy Sword, the lesser the Hero’s potential.

That’s why Shafney wanted to see Shien’s Holy Sword. She wanted to judge his future and potential through its power.

The result surprised her greatly.

“Such power before even transcending… It’s scary to imagine how strong this sword, and you, will beco after you transcend.”

Shafney said, her gaze scanning Shien’s body.

Seeing this, Shien’s heart tightened.

“Don’t tell you want to ‘kill for the greater good’?” He looked at Shafney with vigilance.

“What do you an, ‘kill you for the greater good’?” Shafney said with a smile, “You’re not my family.”

“I’m your sister’s fiancé,” Shien quickly reminded her.

“Not yet married,” Shafney also reminded him gently.

“Not through your sister’s door,” Shien retorted, “If anyone’s marrying through a door, it’s your sister marrying into my family.”

“It’s the sa thing,” Shafney said with a smile, “Anyway, you, the Hero, are dangerous, even more dangerous than Mitra. If you grow stronger, you’ll be a huge threat to us. Just rember that.”

Hearing this, Shien was speechless.

Could it be that this Succubus really intended to eliminate him, to nip this Hero with unlimited potential in the bud?

Interesting…

“If you can, feel free to try,” Shien challenged her.

“You think I wouldn’t dare?” Shafney’s smile remained, but her eyes turned cold. A terrifying pressure enveloped Shien.

Shien’s shoulders slumped, then he straightened up abruptly.

“Clang!” The light on the Holy Sword shone brilliantly.

“Boom!” Dazzling flas also erupted from Shien.

Without hesitation, Shien activated [Samsara of Heaven’s Decree] at full power, his magic power burning fiercely and transforming into strength.

Shien’s aura surged, increasing tenfold, rivaling Shafney’s.

“You…” Shafney was stunned.

But Shien smiled.

“Do you think I’m at your rcy just because I haven’t transcended yet?” Shien looked directly at Shafney, “You haven’t read many novels, have you?”

“Novels?” Shafney was slightly taken aback.

“That’s right,” Shien said calmly, “If you read more novels, you’ll understand one thing.”

“What?”

“Protagonists can always challenge those stronger than them. It’s a basic setting.”

“…” Shafney was speechless.

Shien seized this opportunity to deactivate [Samsara of Heaven’s Decree], calming his surging magic power.

After all, his [Samsara of Heaven’s Decree] had a ti limit, a fatal weakness he couldn’t reveal to this Succubus.

It was enough to scare her. There was no need to show his hand completely.

But just as Shien thought this, Shafney suddenly said,

“This power of yours is forcibly increased. The consumption must be quite high, right?”

These words made Shien’s heart skip a beat.

Shafney smiled again, a joyful smile.

“If you don’t even have this much stamina, then you can’t satisfy .”

“…” Shien was completely defeated.
