Shu Yu went to his elder brother’s room, originally intending to feed him, only to find that Lan Gu had already taken over this task. He raised an eyebrow, his expression calm, but his words carried a hint: "In the future, such matters should be left to or let the mistress handle it."
Lan Gu was taken aback.
Shu Yu continued, "Lan Gu, you are, after all, a woman, and considering your age, you could well be our elder. But there are many examples out there of older wives and younger husbands, so it’s better to avoid suspicion. Besides, I rember that Chris has feelings for you, Lan Gu. Being too close with other n might make him uncomfortable, not to ntion our mistress possibly overthinking it. If she misunderstands, it might not bode well for anyone’s mood."
Lan Gu was montarily confused, then realized that Shu Yu was subtly asserting the family’s mistress’s authority, fearing that she might entertain any inappropriate thoughts towards the Master, hence issuing a gentle warning ahead of ti. This way, it would prevent any misunderstandings by the mistress if she were too attentive to the Master, which could upset her mood, consequently affecting his happiness.
Lan Gu was genuinely helpless. Is he overthinking it? As he said, these brothers are all old enough to be her sons. Her relationship with the Master is both one of servitude and like a senior caring for the young.
However...
Forget about arguing over it. Moreover, what he said does make sense. And as for Chris... Lan Gu’s face blushed a little.
"Your words are wise, Second Lord. It was presumptuous of this servant."
Shu Yu nodded slightly, then settled in the room without leaving.
Lan Gu’s mouth twitches; is she being watched for no apparent reason? Never mind, best not to feel uncomfortable.
"Then, this servant will take her leave first." Lan Gu referred to herself as "servant," but she was actually holding back laughter, finding this Second Lord inexplicably interesting.
After Lan Gu left the room, a servant reported that Chris had arrived. Her heart fluttered, unexpectedly blushing like she did in her youth.
Before eting Chris, she deliberately changed into a sky-blue wide-sleeved flowing fairy dress. She had worn this dress once before; Chris had complinted her, saying that this sky-blue suited her well, and the style of the attire matched her perfectly.
Lan Gu herself... actually didn’t quite understand her feelings. A young foreign man, from a different land and much younger than her, yet his enthusiastic innocence sohow won her over over ti.
Perhaps it was because Chris had been educated differently, growing up in a more open-minded Western society, where he boldly expressed his likes and feelings. His straightforwardness was sothing Lan Gu had never encountered, nor had she ever been pursued so passionately and sincerely.
Furthermore...
When the Blue mansion was initially preparing to deal with Charles, Chris could have stayed out of it. After all, no one knew the full extent of Blue mansion’s power at the ti; the hidden aces, connections, networks, clandestine businesses, accumulated wealth, and manpower were all secrets.
On the surface, if the Blue mansion faced off against Charles, the chance of losing was far greater than winning.
But Chris got involved.
Not for anything else, but for his burning feelings, for Lan Gu, the visible owner of the Blue mansion.
He was willing to plunge into this muddy water, risking it all for her.
