Prince ng began to sense sothing was amiss. She sent a secret letter but received no reply. Initially, she thought there might be so issue on Dong Huiying’s side, but after sending soone to inquire, she learned that the estate in the suburbs of the capital had turned her people away at the gate. Prince ng was baffled by this and couldn’t fathom what was happening.
"Prince?" The butler noticed the prince’s worried expression and stepped forward to ease her concerns. "Are you upset about Marshal Baowei’s situation?"
Prince ng furrowed her brows and said no more.
Imperial Doctor Li was also present, donning a look of realization. Yet, observing the prince, it seed she was completely unaware, showing no sign of having considered this issue.
The butler and Imperial Doctor Li exchanged a glance, and then, unable to hold back, they both chuckled bitterly.
Oh, Prince, you have beco quite accustod to being overbearing.
In fact, it wasn’t just the prince; even the doctor and the butler, having long accompanied the prince, naturally grew accustod to certain assumptions. Only at this mont did the two co to understand.
"Prince, tis have changed," the butler remarked, not without a sigh. "I think perhaps our attitude here caused so displeasure for Marshal Baowei."
Prince ng was surprised: "Attitude? What’s wrong with my attitude?" She was puzzled by what Dong Baowei might have to be unhappy about.
Back when Dong Huiying entered the Prince Mansion disguised as a nun, Imperial Doctor Li had at least interacted with her for so ti. Now, she couldn’t help but speak up: "Prince, could you have offended soone close to the Marshal? Although I haven’t spent a long period with the Marshal, he’s not one with a narrow mind in my estimation."
The butler continued: "In any case, we need the Marshal’s assistance now, but rely sending a secret letter in the dark is indeed a bit rash; perhaps the Marshal believes we aren’t respecting them enough?"
The two spoke in turns, making Prince ng’s head swim.
"So, does the butler suggest that I, the Prince, should humble myself?" Prince ng asked, tightly furrowing her brow. "Dong Baowei was once connected to my ninth sister, and I am still a prince."
The butler was speechless, and Imperial Doctor Li found the situation both amusing and exasperating. Their prince was indeed stuck in a stubborn mindset.
"Things are different now, Prince. Your distrust and questioning of Marshal Baowei, along with your rather... casual attitude, it’s only natural that the Marshal’s people would overthink things."
Prince ng cald herself and reflected deeply. Indeed, she found it difficult to let go of her pride, and on the topic of the Marshal, she was inevitably sowhat rash.
After a long pause, Prince ng sighed: "I always believed I wasn’t soone who would use my noble status to oppress others, but it seems I’ve made such a mistake. Reflecting on the past argunts with Yun Ge, perhaps they also sensed sothing wrong in my attitude."
After all, royalty carries the pride of royalty. Even though the circumstances are not as favorable as before, their inherent nobility not only commands admiration but subconsciously places themselves on an unreachably high pedestal.
"Oh well!"
Prince ng rose: "I will personally invite her!"
The butler hesitated, contemplating that the prince’s earlier rashness had likely offended them; this journey would not be easy, and the prince would probably have to endure so frustrations from the Marshal’s side.
After disguising herself, Prince ng left the capital through a secret passage, leaving a stand-in behind in the Prince Mansion.
The stand-in resembled Prince ng exactly.
She ordered her n to prepare the carriage and imdiately headed to the estate outside the capital where Dong Huiying and her entourage were temporarily lodging.
