She withdrew her small hand and asked emotionlessly, "Is it fun to play for a fool?"

"Ah?"

He opened his mouth, staring at her dumbly.

Dong Huiying glared at him, "Next ti you try to deceive soone, rember to control your emotions first. Your heart was beating so fast, did you think I was a quack and couldn’t tell you were guilty?"

With an aloof deanor, she made Liang Yuening anxious, but she couldn’t be bothered to spare him another glance and simply flounced away.

Yuening was stunned, unable to comprehend why the sa thing went so smoothly for his second brother, but when it ca to him, all he got was a cold shoulder?

After Dong Huiying returned to her room, in the south room, a window was pushed open.

Shu Yu stood by the window, casting a glance at Yuening who was still standing in place.

"Idiot."

Shaking his head and parting his thin lips, he coughed twice before casually shutting the window.

Yuening: "..."

Where exactly was he dumb? He had no clue himself.

Suddenly feeling intellectually inferior to his brother without understanding what he did wrong, he hung his head in powerlessness.

...

The next day.

Liang Yuening seized an opportunity and approached his second brother who was sitting at the courtyard entrance with a white cloth tied around his head.

Shu Yu held a cup of hot water, looking utterly relaxed.

"Second brother..." He was a bit awkward, but he truly didn’t understand. Why did that woman show pity towards his second brother when diagnosing the pulse, while to him she was cold as ice?

Shu Yu sipped his hot water, then asked languidly, "Want to know why?"

His eyes lit up, and he imdiately nodded like a pecking chicken.

Shu Yu said with profound aning, "You underestimated her dical skill, I truly have a headache."

"Uh..."

Yuening was disheartened again.

Shu Yu looked at Liang Yixuan, their youngest brother, who was feeding chickens in the yard. The chickens, ducks, and geese had all been bought by Dong Huiying from the town before.

He seed casual as he observed, "I’ve noticed the weather has ward up recently. The river water is a bit cool, but not too cold, it’s quite suitable for a bath."

Yuening glanced at him, looking as if he heard but didn’t understand.

Shu Yu frowned slightly, then sighed softly. "Yuening, I think she’s right. You really are ill, your mind is ill, and that’s an ailnt that cannot be cured. Just accept it!"

Imdiately after, he no longer paid attention to his slow-witted younger brother and went back inside.

With his frail constitution, an occasional stroll outside was fine, but he mustn’t be exposed to the wind for too long; otherwise, if he beca ill, not only would he suffer, but he would also cause his younger brothers in the Liang family to worry.

Shu Yu coughed lightly all the way back to his room, while Yuening thought about his second brother’s contempt, the inexplicable verbal lash he had just received. He tapped his head and then cast another glance at Dong Huiying, who was washing vegetables in the kitchen...

Wait a second, river water? Washing vegetables?

In a flash of inspiration, he had an epiphany.

That night, everyone in the house was asleep, and Yuening snuck out of the house like a thief.

He stripped himself clean and, gritting his teeth, plunged into the cold, glimring river water under the moonlight.

He soaked in the river for most of the night, his face nearly blue with cold, until dawn, when he sneezed and climbed ashore, shivering.

That should do it.

"Achoo!"

Hastily dressing, he sniffed his blocked nose, but his eyes were surprisingly bright.

In the morning, after Dong Huiying had washed up, she cooked a pot of white rice porridge and prepared two side dishes.

She got up earlier than usual that day. By the ti breakfast was ready, the Liang Family Brothers were still asleep.

The rice porridge and dishes were kept warm on the stove as she stretched her limbs and did so leg presses. Having ward up, she dashed out of the Liang family’s ho to start her morning run.
