However, there was a deep and long gash on his back, and his clothes had been ripped open by the sharp edges of a rock.

He had lost a lot of blood.

But this man’s expression remained unchanged, still wearing an air of indifference, as though the injured party wasn’t himself.

Didn’t he feel any pain?

"Wait!" Dong Huiying quickly pressed an acupuncture point on his back, then rose to her feet.

She caught sight of so herbs nearby that could be used to stop bleeding and imdiately gathered them.

Haoming blinked gently.

The mont she touched him, the pain in his back disappeared.

He kept his face cold, looking like a man with facial paralysis, but his heart was filled with confusion. It seed he couldn’t understand why the pain had vanished.

What had she done to him?

So strange.

Just then, Haoming suddenly startled and hurriedly reached into his pocket, pulling out a sopping wet, snow-white ball of fluff.

It was the rabbit he had picked up from the mountain the day before.

After he fell off the cliff, he had nearly drowned, but thanks to Dong Huiying, he had barely survived.

But the rabbit, along with the squirrel and sparrow he had shoved into his embrace earlier, weren’t so lucky.

He took out the three lifeless little animals in turn and lined them up by size.

Haoming blankly stared at the three small corpses when suddenly, his eyes reddened.

He rembered Xiao Huang, his dog that he had raised for many years... Xiao Huang had been skinned and deboned by a woman, turned into a pot of dog at soup. But he had been out at the ti and by the ti he returned, all that was left was a scattering of gnawed clean bones.

Suddenly, he buried his face in his palms.

Dong Huiying, clutching the herbs, returned to find Haoming in this state.

She looked at the three neatly arranged little animals on the ground and suddenly fell silent.

This man had a kind heart, but those who are kind often get hurt by their own kindness.

"...Liang Haoming?" she hesitated before walking toward him.

Haoming lifted his head and quickly restored his stern expression, as if reluctant to let her see his vulnerability.

Dong Huiying sighed and then positioned herself behind him, tearing his already torn clothes further, making the gash wider before gently tending to his wound.

If only she had needle and thread... His injury was too deep and the wound too long; it had to be stitched up, but now the two of them were at the bottom of a cliff...

Her face grew troubled, deeply worried about the situation.

After crude treatnt, Dong Huiying pressed several acupuncture points on his back again, this ancestral knowledge of hers was out of concern that Haoming might die from excessive blood loss. Currently, bleeding was the most terrifying thing!

Afterward, she looked around and found a piece of flat stone, beginning to dig into the ground with it.

He watched her expressionlessly, her body was already drenched, and digging in the soil made her look even more disheveled, like a little flower cat that had rolled in a mud puddle.

She dug a hole and then turned to look at the man behind her.

"Let’s bury them, so they may rest in peace!"

Haoming’s heart suddenly missed a beat.

Large geese circled overhead, there at the bottom of the cliff, listening to the sound of the gentle breeze, with the glistening surface of the Cold Pool behind him. He gazed at her, her small face covered with streaks of dirt.

A profound and unfamiliar feeling surged through him suddenly and fiercely.

He didn’t know what it was, but he seed to have nodded slightly...

Not long after, near the edge of the Cold Pool and close to the forest, a small mound appeared.

A man and a woman, one tall, one slightly smaller, both drenched and covered in mud – their images far from fine, epitomizing dishevelnt.
