Dragon King's Harem Chapter 316. Afternoon Tea III

“Bad things,” Evelina replied, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she raised both of her eyebrows.

"And I bet he has reported the incident to his king and is planning revenge," Jyne chid in. “But it will be him who gets his punishnt,” she added, a smirk playing on her lips.

“Okay, that sounds juicy. Mind sharing the details with us?” Sela asked, her curiosity piqued as she leaned in, eager for the inside scoop.

“With pleasure,” Jyne declared, her eyes gleaming with excitent. Leaning forward, she began recounting the tale of the arrogant noble's ill-fated challenge to His Majesty's authority.

"Give a break…" I whined, exhaustion dripping from my words like a leaky cauldron.

My head slumped to my desk, a gesture of surrender that matched the defeated posture of my entire body. My eyes, tired and devoid of enthusiasm, stared at the two remaining piles of docunts as if they were personal torntors, hell-bent on making my life miserable.

This was not the majestic image of a dragon king that my subjects would expect, but I had just returned, and here I was, drowning in a sea of bureaucratic torture.

The view from behind the window showed it was night already.

My desk mirrored the disarray of my mind, strewn with a chaotic tapestry of papers that begged for order. A quill lay abandoned.

Beside the desk, a small table groaned. Piles of drink glasses stood witness to my futile endeavors. The plates bore the residue of my half-hearted attempts at sustenance.

It was a feast of disarray.

*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*

A sharp knock echoed through the chamber, breaking the silence. The sound jolted from the hunched slump over my cluttered desk.

In an instant, I straightened my back, the weariness montarily replaced by the innate regality that ca with the mantle of a dragon king. My eyes sought to exude an air of authority.

"Co in," I called.

The door creaked open, revealing Al's figure in the doorway. He stepped into the room, a bundle of papers clutched in his hands.

"Good evening, Your Majesty," Al greeted respectfully.

I reciprocated with a nod. My attention honed in on the papers in his grasp.

Once he saw , he cringed. "Ew... You look dead, Your Majesty," he blurted out.

I shot him a glare that could've lted stone.

"I'm dead on the inside," I deadpanned, my tone a mix of sarcasm and exhaustion. I gestured at the docunts he clutched in his hand. "And you want to give those things to ?" The very sight of paperwork was enough to add an extra layer to my misery.

He cringed again. “Well... I just wanted to deliver it,” he suggested. He knew better than to push it when I was in a foul mood.

"So it's not urgent, right?" I clarified, a glimr of hope in my eyes.

"No, not at all," Al replied with a nonchalant shrug, his quick steps closing the distance between us.

He approached the table, holding a pile of docunts in his hands. As he reached the table, he strategically placed the papers just on the edge.

“I will just put it here,” he declared, an innocent grin playing on his lips.

I eyed him suspiciously as he delivered his sly line.

Glancing down at the docunts, I saw the unmistakable red stamp that scread urgency. I shot him a look, my annoyance was clear. “You said this wasn't urgent,” I pointed out, my irritation thinly veiled.

Al t my gaze with that sa innocent grin. “Well, not as urgent as you should check now. But if possible, check it at least tomorrow morning," he explained, attempting to smooth over the inconvenient truth.

“Right…” I hissed. “Tell the servant that I will have dinner in an hour. And make sure to prepare a lot of at,” I added with an authoritative tone. In the realm of dragon kings, at was the panacea for a foul mood.

"With pleasure, Your Majesty," Al responded, a playful twinkle in his eye. He darted out of the room, leaving alone with the ominous stack of docunts.
