Dragon King's Harem Chapter 373. Unpredictable I

“You’re not escaping this ti,” Viperax growled, his voice low and nacing.

He reached the figure, grabbing it by the back of its cloak and yanking it off the wall.

The figure tumbled to the ground, writhing in pain, its movents jerky and desperate. Viperax jumped down beside it, landing with a thud, and without hesitation, he grabbed the figure once again, his claws digging into the thick fabric of the cloak.

“What are you?” Viperax demanded, his grip tightening as he lifted the figure off the ground, its feet dangling helplessly. “Who sent you?”

For a mont, the figure’s eyes t his—those eerie, glowing orbs that had haunted him throughout the chase. There was sothing unnervingly foreign about them. Viperax expected an answer, perhaps a revelation that would explain everything, but instead, the figure let out a cry of pain. It sounded so weird.

The sound only served to stoke the fires of Viperax’s anger. He slamd the figure down against the hard ground, the impact sending a shudder through his own body. His claws pressed deeper into the figure’s shoulders, pinning it in place with a force that would have shattered bone in a lesser creature.

“Answer !” Viperax roared, his patience at its limit. His breath was ragged, each exhale filled with a mix of fury and anticipation. He needed to know what he was dealing with—whether it was Argod’s agent or sothing else entirely.

The figure gasped, its breath ragged and shallow, as though it was struggling to stay conscious. Its mouth opened and closed, emitting strange, guttural sounds. “Kak... Ack... Kak...” it rasped, the noises more animalistic than intelligent creatures like him. It was a contrast to the earlier voice, which had seed capable of speech.

Viperax frowned, his confusion mingling with his frustration. The sounds it made were bizarre, as if it had lost its ability to speak entirely.

Impatience boiling over, Viperax snarled and yanked the cloak off the figure’s head, intending to finally reveal the face of his mysterious torntor. But as the fabric tore away, what he found beneath shocked him to his core.

It wasn’t that witch tribe guy, nor was it any humanoid creature at all. Instead, he found himself staring into a Nightshade Ravager’s eyes—its twisted, bestial face snarling back at him, its fur matted with blood. The creature’s eyes, no longer glowing, were filled with a mixture of pain and rage. It wasn’t a sophisticated spy or Argod’s agent—it was the Nightshade Ravagers’ alpha or chief.

“How… How co…” Viperax muttered, his voice barely a whisper. The realization hit him like a physical blow. The creature that had led him on this chase, that had outmaneuvered him at every turn, wasn’t the cunning humanoid he had assud. It was a beast, an animal, sohow masquerading as sothing more.

His mind struggled to comprehend how this was possible, how a re monster could possess such intelligence and cunning.

The Ravager wheezed, its breath rattling in its throat as it continued to struggle weakly in Viperax’s grasp. Its once fierce eyes were now dull, the life slowly draining from them.

Viperax stared down at the creature, his mind a whirlwind of disbelief and frustration. This isn’t making any sense at all! He couldn’t accept it—couldn’t accept that this beast, this animal, had been the one to outmaneuver him and lead him on such a relentless chase. There had to be another explanation, another person out here orchestrating this madness.

Viperax’s grip on the Ravager tightened involuntarily, his claws digging deeper into its flesh. The creature let out a pitiful whimper, its body trembling under the pressure, but Viperax barely noticed. His mind was elsewhere, racing through possibilities, trying to piece together the fragnted clues.

'This can't be it,' he thought furiously. 'A Nightshade Ravager isn’t capable of this kind of strategy. Soone or sothing else is pulling the strings. There must be another person out here!'

His eyes darted around, scanning the darkened swamp for any sign of movent, anything that could hint at the presence of another figure hiding in the shadows. The forest was dense and full of hiding places, but the longer he looked, the more his frustration grew. There was nothing—no sign of another enemy, no indication that anyone else was watching them.

His soldiers, who had been watching him with a mixture of confusion and concern, shifted uneasily as they noticed his intense scrutiny of the surroundings.

They had followed him through this harrowing chase, witnessed the transformation of their king into his fearso lizard form, and now they saw him grappling with a wounded creature that didn’t fit the enemy they had all imagined.

One of the soldiers, emboldened by the silence, took a cautious step forward. “Your Majesty, is everything all right?” the soldier asked hesitantly, his voice laced with uncertainty.

Viperax didn’t answer imdiately. His mind was too tangled in thoughts, trying to unravel the mystery that had ensnared them. His breath ca in heavy, frustrated bursts as he continued to scan the area, his eyes narrowing in suspicion at every shadow, every flicker of movent that might be a trick of the light.

“Clear this area!” Viperax barked suddenly, his voice sharp and commanding, cutting through the tension like a blade.

The soldiers imdiately snapped to attention, their confusion replaced by disciplined obedience. “Search for any suspicious things! Everyone and everything!” he ordered, his tone leaving no room for hesitation.

The soldiers dispersed quickly, spreading out in all directions, their weapons drawn and ready. They moved thodically, their eyes scanning the ground, the trees, the darkened spaces between. They prodded at bushes, checked behind rocks, and looked for any sign of traps or hidden enemies.
