Dragon King’s Harem Chapter 384. Who Am I to Judge What The King Does in His Own Tent
Argod’s PoV
The morning ca. I blinked my eyes a few tis, trying to shake off the grogginess. The ceiling of my tent ca into focus, reminding that I wasn’t back in the palace, but still here.
I shifted slightly and felt an unexpected warmth on either side of .
Glancing to the sides, I saw Jyne and Evelina curled up against , their arms draped lazily over my chest. Both were still fast asleep, their soft breaths slow and steady, their faces peaceful.
They had their own beds, comfortable enough, even in the camp, but for so reason, they’d chosen to sleep here, with . I sighed again, shaking my head. ’Well, at least they didn’t kick off the bed in their sleep.’
The bed, though smaller than the ones I was used to in the palace, had sohow supported the three of us through the night. I couldn’t help but feel a bit lucky that I didn’t toss and turn much in my sleep, otherwise, it might’ve ended in a very awkward tumble onto the ground.
Carefully, I pushed their hands away from my chest, making sure not to wake them. They stirred slightly, but their eyes remained closed. I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes and trying to get my bearings.
Outside the tent, I could see the shadows of soldiers moving back and forth, hear the soft clank of armor and the low rumble of carts being pulled.
’Is it really that late already?’ I thought, suddenly realizing how much I had overslept.
I usually woke up earlier, but after last night... Well, it wasn’t surprising. The tension and the frustration of watching Al’s reckless stunts while being chased by Viperax and his soldiers had taken more out of than I cared to admit. I’d felt more exhausted from watching than if I’d actually been in the thick of it myself.
I glanced at the entrance of the tent as it flapped slightly, catching a glimpse of Al peeking inside. His eyes t mine, and he quickly realized I was awake.
"I’m awake, Al. Co in," I called out, my voice still hoarse from sleep.
Al stepped inside cautiously, stopping a few feet from the bed. His expression was... awkward, to say the least. He stared at for a mont, and instead of the usual greeting, his lips curled into a strange, uncomfortable smile.
"You surely had a blast last night, Your Majesty," he said, his smile widening into sothing more mischievous than awkward.
"Huh?" I frowned, not understanding what he ant at first.
But then, I glanced down at myself, and the reason for his comnt beca embarrassingly clear. My shirt was unbuttoned, completely undone, revealing my chest. I hadn’t noticed it before due to the blanket, but now, seeing it, I could guess that Evelina and Jyne had gotten a little too comfortable during the night. ’Great.’
I scowled and started buttoning my shirt back up, trying to ignore the amused look on Al’s face. But of course, he couldn’t leave it alone.
"Well," he continued, "you need an heir sooner or later... so I kind of understand." His voice was laced with a teasing tone that made want to throw a pillow at him.
I shot him a glare. "I didn’t do anything last night, Al," I said firmly, fastening the last button on my shirt and straightening myself up. My patience with his jokes was already wearing thin, especially after the long night we’d had.
Al raised his hands in mock surrender, his grin still plastered across his face. "Sure, sure. I an, who am I to judge what a king does in his own tent, right?" His tone was light, but there was no mistaking the mischievous glint in his eyes.
I let out a long, tired sigh, shaking my head. "Honestly, after last night, the only thing I want is so peace and quiet. You’re lucky I didn’t strangle you for that stunt you pulled."
Al’s smile faltered for a mont, his expression turning a bit more serious as he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Yeah... about that," he said, a slight grimace creeping into his features. "I know I pushed it. But it worked, didn’t it? Ahahaha..." He ended the statent with a prideful laugh, clearly trying to lighten the mood.
I gave him a flat stare, not at all amused. "Yes. But you also almost gave a heart attack." My voice was dry, and I wasn’t in the mood to humor his prideful grin. It had been a close call, and he knew it.
Al raised his hands in mock surrender, the grin still playing at the corners of his lips. "Fine, point taken. But we’re here now, and everything’s set. The preparations are all in place." He tried to sound more professional, but I could hear the playful tone lingering underneath.
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Are you sure? I don’t want any surprises this ti. Everything needs to go smoothly. No last-minute issues, no unexpected problems." My words were firm.
Al straightened up a bit, taking on a more serious deanor, though his casual nature still peeked through. "Eir has double-checked everything. Security’s tight, the team’s in position, and the route’s been cleared. No surprises." He paused for a mont, then added with a smirk, "Well, unless you count . But that’s part of the charm, right?"
I gave him a side glance, still not entirely convinced. "Charm isn’t going to help if sothing goes wrong."
He chuckled but quickly waved it off. "I’m kidding. Relax, Your Majesty."
I gave him a slow nod. My thoughts went to the victims we just saved. "Good. Because if this goes south..."
"It won’t," he interrupted, standing up straight again, that confident smirk creeping back onto his face. "I promise. I’ve got everything under control. You just need to trust us."
I took a deep breath and nodded again. "Fine. I’ll get ready then."
"Great. I’ll be outside," he said, turning toward the tent flap.
