Nobody knows whether this new redy is effective.

Upon hearing that Xia Wenjin was unconscious, Huangfu Jingchen was frantic with worry. Regardless of how dangerous the Severe Epidemic Area was, he insisted on staying by Xia Wenjin’s side.

Seeing that Xia Wenjin had grown even thinner, almost nothing but skin and bones, his heart ached terribly, and he was even more concerned about her condition.

When the Undying Poison Doctor walked in from outside, he hurried over and asked, "Senior Poison Doctor, Wenjin, she..."

The Undying Poison Doctor also looked a bit grave and said, "I overstated matters this ti. This epidemic is quite troubleso. In the past three days, we have researched seven new redies and tried them on different people, but could not achieve the best effect. This current redy hasn’t been tested yet, but Wenjin can’t wait any longer. As soon as the dicine is ready, give it to her directly."

Hearing the Undying Poison Doctor’s words, Huangfu Jingchen’s heart sank to the ground, and he asked with a trembling voice, "Can this new redy... cure her?"

The Undying Poison Doctor rarely sighed and said, "I don’t know yet!"

"If it doesn’t work, what will happen to Wenjin?" Huangfu Jingchen didn’t want to voice such a pessimistic thought, but his heart was exceedingly worried, which couldn’t stop him from asking.

The Undying Poison Doctor paused for a mont before slowly saying, "Her body has reached its limit, and her breath is already as weak as a thread. If this redy is effective, she can reclaim a life. If not, she...won’t have another chance."

Huangfu Jingchen’s legs went weak, and he almost collapsed to the ground.

What does it an to not have another chance?

Yet he knew in his heart that the Undying Poison Doctor was not joking. From the ti Xia Wenjin fell ill until now, it has been more than ten days. Initially, those who fell ill died within seven or eight days, but thanks to her redy, it has been delayed to more than ten days, but it is still limited.

Delaying until the end, the body can no longer endure it. Without a true redy, death is inevitable.

Kong Chan once said she wouldn’t live past sixteen, and could it really be so accurate?

No, it won’t be!

Seeing Huangfu Jingchen’s expression, the Undying Poison Doctor gently patted his shoulder, saying, "It’s better for you not to be here. After all, the dead are not a pleasant sight! If she is awake, she probably wouldn’t want you to see her die!"

These words were too cruel. The Undying Poison Doctor, having seen much birth, aging, sickness, and death, didn’t feel there was anything wrong. However, he didn’t realize that each of these words was like a sword, piercing straight into his heart, leaving it bloody and painfully unbearable.

He shook his head and said, "No, I will stay here. No matter what happens, I want to be with her!"

The Undying Poison Doctor shrugged indifferently and said, "Suit yourself!"

He went to prepare the dicine.

Decoction of the dicine would take an hour.

Normally, such a task could be done by another physician, as it only required attention to the heat, but the Undying Poison Doctor decided to personally attend to it.

For no other reason than that the young girl had called him master for a few days, and indeed, what she learned was from his lineage.

He had soone move the dicine stove into the room and simred it slowly with charcoal.

Huangfu Jingchen stayed by Xia Wenjin’s side all the while.

Xia Wenjin never woke up again, remaining in a comatose state.

Huangfu Jingchen was not afraid of transmitting the epidemic, staying by her bedside, washing her face, and wiping her hands, then continuously sat by her side watching her.

The Undying Poison Doctor boiled dicine for a whole hour, while Huangfu Jingchen stayed at her bedside for that hour.

Though the Undying Poison Doctor was preparing dicine, he would occasionally look over at Huangfu Jingchen, seeing him seemingly dazed, just staring at the unconscious person. Initially, the Undying Poison Doctor scorned him, but later, his eyes showed so softening.

The affections of these young ones seem quite moving too.

After the dicine was finished, the Undying Poison Doctor poured it into a small bowl, exactly one bowl.

He handed it to Huangfu Jingchen, "Feed her, drink this, live or not, all depends on this bowl of dicine!"

Huangfu Jingchen quickly stood up, cautiously taking it. The dicine was still very hot, but he seed not to notice, cradling it in his palms, unwilling to let go.

Once it cooled a bit, he took a spoonful, blew on it gently at his lips until it felt about right, then carefully brought it to Xia Wenjin’s lips, gently feeding it to her.

Though Xia Wenjin was unconscious, fortunately she could still swallow. During the swallowing process, much of the dicine spilled, and he gently wiped the dicine stains from the corners of her lips with a handkerchief.

A bowl of dicine took fifteen minutes to feed, and Xia Wenjin drank most of it.

Huangfu Jingchen turned back, eagerly looking at the Undying Poison Doctor as if asking for more?

The Undying Poison Doctor glared at him, "Do you think it’s water? It’s enough if the dicine takes effect. Drinking more won’t fill you up!"

"When will there be results?" Huangfu Jingchen asked timidly.

Seeing his appearance, the Undying Poison Doctor was both angry and amused, "You brat, who are you putting on a show for? When you were threatening with the little mink, you were quite bold. How co you weren’t this humble then?"

Huangfu Jingchen, with a grin, didn’t dare to talk back.

How could it be the sa? At that ti, he only wanted to invite him to treat Wenjin, putting his own life aside, thus daring to go against him.

But now he relied on him to save Wenjin.

With Wenjin’s current condition so dire, how could he not be careful and polite to the one person who could save her?

He humbly said, "Senior, will Wenjin be alright?"

"Whether she’ll be alright, I don’t know. I can’t guarantee anything now." Seeing his look, the Undying Poison Doctor didn’t want to tease him and said, "Let’s wait and see. This dicine is to nourish her five organs. By tomorrow morning, if she wakes up, she’ll have regained a small life. This epidemic would then be overco. If she doesn’t wake up by tomorrow morning, you should take a trip to the county!"

"Why go to the county?" Huangfu Jingchen was anxious. Could there be another expert who could treat Wenjin?

The Undying Poison Doctor glanced at him, "To do what? Naturally, to order a fine coffin to properly bury her!"

Huangfu Jingchen: "..."

The Undying Poison Doctor said he would only treat Xia Wenjin, and indeed, he only treated her, without looking at any other patients.

Of course, if the redy used for Xia Wenjin worked, then all patients could be healed too.

He yawned and said, "I’m going to find a place to sleep. If this girl doesn’t wake up in the morning, don’t bother calling . I’ll leave quietly."

Huangfu Jingchen thought he was joking, but his face was serious, and that hint of gravity in his eyes was unmistakable.

This man was so self-assured; if there was still hope, would he slap his own face? The situation probably really had reached the worst.

Hearing this, Huangfu Jingchen felt as if his heart was being cut by knives.

He hated himself for not realizing earlier that Wenjin had contracted the epidemic. Why didn’t he seek renowned physicians earlier? Or perhaps, why didn’t he go against Wenjin’s wishes and just take her away sooner?
